  1. love it when I'm wrong. Jon Garland, thank you for doing your part.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) What's that....the bad nightmare that you can't wake yourself out of? yep. i guess having a 3.5 lead just hit me. holy s***.
  3. Isn't this about the time in the game when Valentin air mails an easy throw to Konerko?
  4. Gene, any chance you can bust out that freaky space monkey thing next inning? The one that worked against Arizona? Talk to him, see if he'll come out. Can't hurt.
  5. Boy, the twinkies announcers are just loving the sox collapse
  6. There is no groveling in baseball. That said, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEASE WIN THIS GAME!!
  7. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Tadahito Iguchi was not in the White Sox' starting lineup Thursday, and his frequent days off are becoming more of a negative than the beneficial rest that is intended. ''It would have probably been better if I would have played instead,'' Iguchi said through an interpreter about all his time off this season. ''I have a lot of days off, and when I have a lot of days off, I can't get into a rhythm.'' Manager Ozzie Guillen has maintained that he gives Iguchi frequent days off because he isn't used to the grind of a 162-game season. Iguchi played in Japan's Pacific League, which has a 135-game regular season. The Central League season is 140 games. Iguchi played 124 games last season, meaning he had only nine off days. The Japanese Leagues had a strike last season that wiped out two games. He has played in 119 games with the Sox, putting him on pace to see action in 133. ''I don't really know what direction Ozzie is thinking in,'' said Iguchi, who pinch-hit in the eighth inning Thursday and hit a three-run double on the first pitch he saw. ''I don't know about this year, but as far as next year, if this keeps happening, it might be something I want to talk to him about. This is my first year in the major leagues, so maybe Ozzie is thinking about how to handle me.''
  8. Here are two very fun perspectives on the collapse: Reinmuth Vanderberg
  9. I haven't been sober long enough to know. I started drinking some time in August, right around the time the lead dropped below 10 games. But once I get through detox and these pink monkeys stop chasing me around the house, I'll let you know. If anyone's seen my wife and kids, please let me know.
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) They have to beat Cleveland. very true. I like the pitching match ups going in: Millwood vs. Garcia/Bmac Westbrook vs. Buehrle Elarton vs. Garland Lee vs. Duque/Bmac Lee has been lights out and will be tough to beat no matter who we throw out there. Hell, he's a cy young candidate. I can see 3 of 4 if we swing the bats. Cause they are going to score, that's all there is to it.
  11. I have many friends who are Angel fans who sound a lot like people on this board, dismayed at getting swept by the lowly Mariners. When I mention the Sox sucking they just shrug and say stuff like, "so what, they'll be fine." The sox are going to have to turn it up, Cleveland's not going to cool off anymore than the Sox did in May or June.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Anyone remember this guy? I've been asking for someone to please bust this out for a long time now!
  13. Ain't gonna happen. The Sox are going to have a great series in Minny and come home Monday on a high note. We owe them a sweep. Cleveland's going to take the lowly Royals for granted and lose 2 of 3. And then we're going to procede to beat the everlovings*** out of Cleveland and reassert our dominance in the division and in the league. You think I'm full of s***, but take a look at how well the Sox are swinging the bats. Crede's hitting, Uribe's hitting, even Carl seems to be coming around. Dye's hitting, Pods is hitting and Iguchi is f'n clutch. We all know what Pauly's doing but because he can't handle pressure he'll be dropped back to clean up this weekend. Even AJ has shown some life at the plate. The pitching has stumbled but will be picked up by the hitting.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) Good points. The thing is, there's nothing you, me, or 99 pct of soxtalk posters can do about it. All we can do from here on out is hope for the best. just hang on and hope the ride's a fun one
  15. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) thats not good. I remember he had like 45-50 steals before he got injured and was out for the extended period of time but he is still getting caught on the bases. Up is down, down is up. It's all so damn strange.
  16. Sounds like it has come to the point where Ozzie's washing his hands of this mess, throwing up his hands and saying "I don't have an answer." It just seems like every September we're reading quotes like this coming from the white sox..."we just stink, I don't know why." I'm so sick and tired of watching this team fade. f***. A 15 game lead on August 1. I don't blame Buehrle, he pitched okay, I don't know why he's saying that. Vizcaino gave it up big time, and Jenks is throwing 85mph sliders belt high when he could throw fastballs at 98. It just makes no sense. You don't play as well as this team did for most of season by accident. That's not a fluke.
  17. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) How about this scenario: The Indians handle the Royals the way good teams are supposed to and sweep them. The Twins handle us the way they usually have in the second half and sweep us. Monday night's game is the biggest of year with the Sox leading the division by 1 1/2 games. Just saying. If I were Cleveland and coming into Monday's game knowing that I could walk out of Chicago with the division lead? Man, talk about being psyched
  18. Keep Ozzie, lose Joey Cora. WTF is up with that guy lately? Carl gets a late sign and overruns third. AJ gets waved home and is thrown out easily after a double clutch by the second baseman. Not even close.
