We didn't play as well as we need to but part of that is because they played well. This is a very good Angels team. I'm not panicking yet either though. One of those reasons is because I don't think the home field matters too much. We just need to get to 4 before them, wherever the wins come from. I think we can do that.

Where have all the good men gone And where are all the gods? Where's the street-wise Hercules To fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and turn and dream of what I need [Chorus] I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong And he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure And it's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life Somewhere after midnight In my wildest fantasy Somewhere just beyond my reach There's someone reaching back for me Racing on the thunder end rising with the heat It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet [Chorus] Up where the mountains meet the heavens above Out where the lightning splits the sea I would swear that there's someone somewhere Watching me Through the wind end the chill and the rain And the storm and the flood I can feel his approach Like the fire in my blood

Put your faith in the Rally Crede.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Whoever is going to the games in Anaheim, I full expect you guys to buy a rally monkey and tape Crede's head over its head. Sad to say I own a Rally Monkey that my parents bought on their west coast swing of baseball stadiums this summer. You will be pleased to know that mine currently has a picture of Crede pasted over his head, as he has for the past several weeks. I'm considering making a series of compromising photos using my Rally Monkey. My Rally Monkey as a hostage. Being hung. Drinking a lot to make himself feel better. These are just a few options. If you have any other thoughts, please share. If I can get my camcorder camera (which sucks, but at least takes a few pictures) to work I could take a few pics and post a few requests.

On Around the Horn Mariotti actually just did something that was really funny. During their opening 10 seconds a piece they get they cut to Mariotti and he's just sitting there, looking around nervously and says, "these White Sox fans...they're out to get me." That's hilarious. Another funny thing is that Woody just called the Yankees "the little team that could."

Ozzie Guillen doesn't care about white people.

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) LOL. I guess I missed the racial check boxes when I registered. Why don’t you start a poll so we’ll have an idea about our diversity? You know, like: White White/Irish White/Anglo-Irish White/Southside Irish White/lace-curtain Irish White/shanty Irish White/black Irish White/Fighting Irish Other Heh. So that's why there is so much fighting on here!

QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) I hear somebody playing Bonnie Tyler!!!

I still don't know whether cheering is supposed to help the pitcher or the batter. Maybe I'm thinking about it in too much of a football type of way.
-
I'm just curious, and it really has nothing to do with this thread...but does anybody have any good grasp on what the racial mix of this board is? I don't care and maybe it would be better if we didn't know so it doesn't play into people's thoughts, but I'm just curious whether this board shares much of the same diversity that makes the Sox fan base great?

I don't have a huge problem with bandwagoners. If they want to hop on, go ahead. Don't worry. We're never going to turn into the SAUX or the Cubbies. The bandwagoners just have to know that it will be more fun and mean more to the rest of us than it does to them. That's all. Otherwise, hop on board. Give us money. And support this awesome awesome team. Go Sox.

The Rally Crede won the ALDS!!!!

I think the Governor has staked out his place stronly enough that he's not going to pander. If they do well I don't think he's going to be a jerk about it, but I'll respect him more if he just sticks to his roots and says, "that's nice, but I'm a Cubs fan so I'm not going to pretend I'm a White Sox fan." I guarantee he won't be out wearing a Sox hat unless he loses some sort of bet. As Guv he'll probably be cheering for them because it's good for the state, but in his heart of heart he wants them to rot and burn just like we would about the Cubbies. And that's fine by me. I just think it's cool that he's actually really knowledgeable about the sport.

QUOTE(SoufSideHitMen @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) I remeber seein russel crow{sp?} at a home game Knowing that telephone at the hotel incident, I could believe that.

I remember when they switched to black and white. In around 1990-91 it started to become really cool to wear White Sox gear. Gangsta rap was huge and the black and white sox hat was the thing to wear. I had my old school red, blue and white hat that I got the last year at old Comiskey and some punk stole it from me while I was playing basketball at the Y. I don't think I've ever quite gotten over that. That was my first favorite baseball hat.

What about Hef? If we could get Hef I'd be satisfied. Either him or Oprah.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) James Denton from Desperate Houswives is a HUGE Sox Fan. From March: The Boston Herald reports that ``Desperate Housewives'' hottie James Denton has been a White Sox fan, a Dodgers season ticket holder, but its the Red Sox who have stolen his heart! The Wisteria Lane mystery man, who got to take batting practice with Jason Varitek and Bronson Arroyo in Fort Myers last month, said the Sox won him over two years ago with their ``team play and attitude.'' Sort of like the ``Desperate Housewives'' gals . Posted March 20, by Ben Maller Discuss in the Forums | Link So basically most famous White Sox fans realized they weren't taking their career anywhere so they strayed.

My buddy Pete. This guy I know named Brian. My Dad. My Dad is driving 4 hours one way so we can watch the game together tomorrow and then he has to drive back tomorrow night. Just so we can share watching a Sox playoff game together. How cool is that?!?

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) jessica simpson was on 103.5 the other day saying she was a Sox fan. Apparetly she is friends with Podsednik. Podsednik, that dog. I wouldn't mind if she shows up *cough*naked*cough* and they keep showing her during the games.

Here's an article: http://www.boston.com/ae/celebrity/article...white_sox_fans/ We all know Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Stephen King are superfans of the Sox, but how 'bout their playoff opponents? What celebs, if any, support the Chisox? Believe it or not, Styx singer Dennis DeYoung is to the White Sox what Ben is to the Bosox. Yup, while many prominent Chicagoans pledge allegiance to the Cubs -- John Cusack, Bill Murray, Dennis Franz, and Jim Belushi come to mind -- Mr. Roboto reveres the White Sox. (We e-mailed DeYoung yesterday, but Kilroy wasn't there.) The list of Pale Hose partisans doesn't end there. Other notables who strongly identify themselves as White Sox rooters include the Rev. Jesse Jackson, ''Cheers" star George Wendt, talk show host Jerry Springer, professional wrestler Mankind, and, our personal favorite, 1994 Playboy Playmate of the Year Jenny McCarthy, a South Side native. Reached yesterday in New Orleans, Jackson called the Chisox a ''team of destiny" that has ''not only the talent, but the appetite." While it's ''a joy to watch the artistry of [David] Ortiz and[Manny] Ramirez," he predicted a White Sox win. ''You and the Red Sox share something," Jackson said, laughing. ''You're both up against a deadline." That's a nice slam by Jesse Jackson. And Mr. Roboto just got a step closer to that Bonnie Tyler song in my book.

Has Tom Hanks gone to games in the past? I like Tommy and even more now so. I'm sure he'll show up if we get further.

John Hughes sealed it for me. Beethoven's 5th was awesome. I want to see my boy Kanye out there. His new album is literally one of the best albums I've ever heard. And even better than his Rolling Stone album of the year from last year.
-
Tomorrow we're going to see shots of Ben and Stephen King and Robert Redford and a bunch of different celebs and it got me wondering. Who we got? Mayor Daley. Although having the mayor of the city your from isn't really a celeb. Although in a split city I guess it could be. And it's cool having him. I don't even know any other ones. Do we at least have the person most likely to be bigger than Oprah in 5 years, Kanye West? Anybody famous from Chicago that I can think of is a Cubbies fan. I suppose that helps out their careers more than wearing a Sox cap.

Nice thread title. I love this place.

The biggest reason I feel confident and why they say pitching is so important in the playoffs is this. Good pitching can hold up and strengthen during the playoffs. Bad pitching gets more and more shaky during the playoffs. We're already on page 33. Saweeeet!!!
