  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) Pods won last year because of Red Sox fans and Soxtalk. We won't have help from any other fans in all of baseball because everyone hates AJ besides us and the Twins, and they'll vote for Liriano. It will be a whole lot tougher this year than last year. Well s*** maybe we should just sit in the corner and cry about it then like a bunch of f***in' pussies who feel like it's owed to us because we won the World Series last year. The second we start losing fire as a fan base like we (and I mean WE as in SOXTALK) is the second this team stops winning. And it may sound silly, but I actually believe that. Because whatever happens here is indicitive of what happens with us a whole fan base.
  2. I find myself agreeing with Greg Hibbard a lot of the time. It's hard to find normal, rational, non-over reactionary, non-homer but critical fnas on team message boards, but if there is one, it's probably him.
  3. Bluto : Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Otter : Germans? Boon : Forget it, he's rolling. Bluto : And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... [thinks hard] Bluto : the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go! [runs out, alone; then returns] Seriously...I saw THIS BOARD literally put Pods on their back and put him on the All Star team. I mean literally. Scott Podsednik was in the All-Star game because of us. And now we're going to sit around and talk about how other players are more deserving? Hell, I'm actually a Twins fan also and I know that Liriano definately deserves to be in the All Star Game, but f*** me if I'm just going to sit here and vote for him as opposed to A.J.. You think Pods was the most deserving player to make the All-Star game last year? Probably not. But that didn't seem to be a problem for us. But now all of a sudden we have standards? Seriously if there is any player on our team who deserves to have US all show him all of our support - who is it...I would have a problem saying anyone other then A.J. I don't know about the rest of you, but let's try and get another...Soxtalk..put 'em on the booaarrdd!!! YES!!!
  4. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) generalizing about all cubs fans is almost as bad as generalizing about all sox fans... EXACTLY.
  5. I'll take 'em in a heartbeat. Won't even think about it. More power to them if they want to come over. Doesn't affect the joy I am able to get out of watching them. Accept maybe help by filling the money jar.
  6. Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I'm taking my nephew to the game against Minnesota on Saturday, August 26th. He's from Minnesota (like myself except he didn't tak up the Sox from his Grandpa like I did) and I like to take him to a game every year. Last year I took him to a game at Miller Park against the Twins and we had a great time. He loved that I was able to take him tailgaiting. And it was a great exprience except for the few a-hole fans that decided to yell at us for wearing Twins gear (hey I'm from Minnesota and those late 80's/early 90's teams when I was a kid were a hella lotta fun to be a fan of.) So anyway, I asked him whether he would rather go to Wrigley (which I thought he would take) or whether he'd rather see the Sox play the Twins at Comiskey and he chose Comiskey (he lives in Rochester and I live in Madison). So I could have gotten tix early on that were fairly crappy from Ticketmaster but chose to wait. Well I'm wondering now what the best way is to make myself at least not look like a schmuck (and hopefully look like a stud uncle) and get us some tix for the Sox/Twins game on Sat, Aug 26th. Any suggestions would be helpful. When I took him to Miller Park last year the two coolest things were this: 1) driving into the lot smelling the grills. Right away he thought this was awesome and 2) He actually looked up once we were inside the stadium and said "this is cool...I've never seen the sky inside a stadium before" I don't expect the kid to become a Sox fan, but I love being able to show him what baseball is like in different stadiums while he is still young. Thanks for the help...
  7. Is anyone else surprised at how cheap they got him?
  8. QUOTE(HighHeat45 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) In the first post he said there will be a link to the old board though, so you might not be able to find stuff like that. What? You think I actually read the whole post before making my feelings known by responding? What fun would that be?
  9. I think I'm at a point where if the Sox management wants to do someting - you know what - I'm really not in any position to criticize whatever the hell they do and I'll trust whatever they choose to do. Especially for something like radio guy. Although I really do hope they chose a good one. We're the 2005 World Champions!!!!!
  10. All I gotta say is we better not freakin lose any and I mean ANY of the good memories of being able to go back and read game filled with Bonnie Tyler, Thunderstruck and other nonsense. No website is worth losing that. Sorry. And I'm all about moving forward, but if you're going to blast away the old, can you at least give a long heads up so I'm able to copy many pages of old stuff to be able to check back on for my own sake. (the Rally Crede - the night the Rally Crede was born - basically every game thread from the last 15 games on, etc...)
  11. BTW - What happened to "if the White Sox win the World Series the Rally Crede thread will stay up on top through the whole offseason?" The Rally Crede is disappointed.
  12. Every time I hear Thunderstruck, Don't Stop Believin' or Holding Out For A Hero the juices get flowing big time. Those songs will NEVER be the same for me.
  13. You could probably pay for that DVD burner on this site alone if you do it via PM.
  14. I might agree with these guys except Don't Stop Believin' in playing so loud in my ears that I can't figure out what he's actually trying to say.
  15. Not sure where to say this without starting another thread- but I thought that if we won the series the Rally Crede thread was going to stay where it has for the last month, over the whole offseason? I don't see why it shouldn't, being that it's basically the reason we are now the WORLD CHAMPIONS!!! WHOOO!!!
  16. Thou shalt not worship false idols that are not the Rally Crede.
  17. Well - it's worked in the past... Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods? Where's the great white Hercules to fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what i need I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night he's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast and gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life Larger than life Somewhere after midnight In my wildest fantasies Somewhere just beyond my reach There's someone reaching back for me Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat It's gonna take a Superman to sweep me off my feet I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night he's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast and gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life Larger than life I the mountains neath the heavens above Out where the lightning strikes the sea I can swear that there's someone somewhere watching me Through the wind and the chill and the rain and the storm and the flood I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night he's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast and gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life Larger than life
  18. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) If we hadn't known he was available to take a coaching job before the first playoff game where he was in the broadcast booth, he and his pals made sure we were made aware during it. Shameless lobbying during the telecast. I will say, however, I was amazed at how good Lou cleaned up. A shave and a jacket suited him real nicely. We talk about Lou Pinella like he's Shooter from Hoosiers or something.
  19. The Rally Crede scoffs at those who criticize Scotty Po for a not so great throw the minute after he hits a walk off home run in the World Series.
  20. I don't get why everyone in here gets so freaked out and pissed off when we get down a run or two. If you haven't figured out it's our year by now and this team has that "it" no matter how much they are down, I doubt you will figure it out until a week after we've got this goofy looking trophy in our stadium lobby.
  21. If we were the Cubs when Jermaine Dye dropped that ball they would have started talking about the curse and the team and the fans all would have started to think about it and freak out. It goes without saying, but I'm very happy we're not the Cubs.
  22. I just noticed the same thing. Anytime something big just ends their quick on their highlights. That was pretty poor.
  23. This Rally Crede thing has gotten completely ridiculous. By that, I mean that it's ridiculous because it has actually become real.
