He certainly did. He and Warren kept us in it in the first half...could have been real ugly if not for those 2. Frazier and Meacham also with poor shooting nights meant the bigs were the ones that had to do everything tonight. -

It's not like Mcbride had a decent game before that play, he was brutal the entire game. Grab some bench, he offers nothing Meacham doesn't have right now. Also, we got beat by a freshman tonight in the 2nd half at home, not good. -

1 from three point land? Yikes. Got it to a doable margin at half after a brutal start, let's see what we do with it. -

Ibekwe out tonight for Maryland...so both teams without one of their better players. And hopefully this is the first and last time i have to say this...go Duke. -
Yasny, Last year was not 2005. Nor did it involve the 2005 Pods. He didn't spark anything last year, period.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) so, basically you are forming your opinion based on NFL draft projections. Cade McNown would have LOVED you. I'm basically going against your earlier statement that says Smith is the better pro prospect than Quinn. I'm using opinions that are better than either of our opinions to make a case. Smith is a pro prospect of some sort, but evaluating the guy more on wins/losses and 'leading a championship team' is not the criteria to really use here. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Ok, what is it that Smith lacks? He has a cannon for an arm, has shown he has gret decision making skills, completes a large amount of his passes, has great touch on the deep ball and has shown he is the best big game QB in quite some time in college football. What part of that doesnt translate to the NFL? Too many people just place Troy Smith in a category without actually seeing him play, he is not a run-first QB with so-so passing skills like Vince Young. He is a pocket passer who has shown he is more dangerous through the air than on his feet. He has completed 67 percent of his passes this year and has thrown 30 TD's. Please explain how running a Pro-style offense, in a tough conference, against 2 #2 ranked teams, and leading your team to a national championship doesnt translate to the NFL. I guess we'll just wait for the nfl draft, or if you like people can start posting nfl draft rankings from various places. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) Hahahaha. I think the ND blinders have carried over to the NFL for ya. If Troy Smith goes in the 2nd round of the draft, you can have my season tickets for the sox. If you have your choice of QB in the most important game of your season, anyone who does not pick Troy Smith is blind. Brady Quinn has played against 2 good defensive teams this season, Michigan and USC. Throwing up yards and TD's vs the service trio doesnt apply to how you will do in the NFL. There's a difference between a great college qb and a great nfl qb. Brady will go before Smith in the draft, no doubt. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) I'd just like to point out that even Rich McBride agrees with me in regards to Dee Brown (and so does Shuan Pruitt, although he isn't as direct). http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/story.asp?id=252564 Ehh, those two don't have a clue what they are talking about either though. Yup, i guess the Illini are a much better team without Dee Brown and James Augustine. I would have loved to have seen how did they last year without both of them. Perhaps they could have made another final four appearance. Probably would have been a lock - if only Weber benched both of them last year! You also misinterpreted those quotes, IMO. You read them and saw what you wanted to. We all know Dee wasn't a true point, but i think what Rich is saying is look, we found someone to replace him, not "man, he's finally gone, we are so much better without him." You also are taking Pruitt's quote to only mean what you want it to, not 'chester is a good pg, he looks inside'. You are making up your own context. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) Well I know that wasn't me. And I posted "Drew.Tate.Is.Good" after every game in '04. -------- Yeah, Iowa had punting problems. Ferentz likes to play for field position, but you can't play for field position when your kicker and defense suck ass. And Yes, Fenstermaker was worse than Illinois everyday punter, the one they kept trying to replace. Look it up. I know it wasn't you. Can i factor in our rugby style punts into the punting 'competition'? -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) [/grabbing some popcorn, knowing my team sucks] All i commented on was a lucky play. Also, some of the Tate hate around here comes from someone saying they'd take him over anyone but Troy Smith i think it was. No not big ten, the country. Some people went off on that. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) I mostly agree, but ask LSU how clutch he is. With a little bit more arm strength, i could have thrown that pass. That's not clutch, that's just blown coverage. Cmon... -

QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) having an argument between a 4/5 team is way less relevant than trying to decide the 2nd and 3rd best. A 4 team playoff is where it should be. You'd be surprised, i think. Same principle...right now you are deciding which 2 teams get a shot at the title, in this scenario you'd be deciding which 4 can even win it. 2 victories and the #4 team takes it. It'd be a lot more relevant than you think, and still filled with controversy. I'm probably for it, but it's not like deciding the 64th team. -

I know the regular season isn't a perfect playoff, but the regular season is what makes college football awesome, because it almost is a playoff. Win every week or you are pretty much out. Otherwise, with an 8 team (or more) playoff, basically every Michigan/OSU game will be meaningless in the grand scheme of things. And ditto for every ND/USC game, et al. It's just like, 'see you in the playoffs.' College football would suck. That's why i've tried to support the BCS year after year and hoping they make enough changes to keep it working well enough to avoid a march-style playoff that casual college football fans want. -

BCS isn't perfect, but i don't want anything more than a 4 team playoff (even then, who's 4, etc? still controversy). If anyone wants to go to 8 or 16 or whatever else, i will stick with the BCS no matter how bad it may suck year in and year out. -

Again...how is it a foregone conclusion Michigan is the 2nd best team in the nation? And all that matters is that they aren't #1. 42-39, drive home safely. -
