  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Why all the Tate hate? Im not even a real fan of Iowa but Drew Tate has been one of my favorite QB's to watch in the short span ive been watching college football. I know he has no real future in the NFL.... but I think he is a pretty damn good QB. Because of this quote:
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) Illini basketball is upon us. Fixed
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Hey, that jersey came in handy in Cinci. Oh yeah, that was so money in that situation.
  4. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Well then we have to agree to disagree. I watched the entire game at and half time I thought as long as Illinois doesnt start doing anything stupid Wisconsin just choked away a 1 loss season. The special teams was terrible. Illinois has the worst punter Ive seen in a long time. The game calling in the second half was abysmal, outside of that 1 play where Juice completely missed the player, the entire half was uninspiring. If Zook calls more option / qb draw, etc, the game is over. Wisconsin had no answer for Juice scrambling, and clearly had no idea how to handle the option. The fact is, Illini had a huge lead at half. If they just play average in the second Wisconsin would have lost. They went into a shell and played terribly. You knew Wisconsin's offense was going to come out strong, Stocco just kept missing open players in the first half. But Illinois had a chance, and it was not the players who blew it. Maybe it was the first interception in the second half that made Zook lose confidence. But after that play, it looked like a completely different offense. I'm not blaming it all on the players, so i don't know if we're completely disagreeing. I just wouldn't throw it all on him. IMO, more of it goes on the players...maybe it's 60/40 IMO, something like that. I know you probably haven't seen some of our other losses...but the coaching staff was brutal in the 2nd half of some of those games. So in comparison, this one was a lot better. I just think the players didn't help Zook's cause at all in that 2nd half, even if the play calling could have been a bit better. I mean the plays i listed above...if you turn one or two of those around, we probably win for sure. That's all i'm saying, but i understand where you are coming from.
  5. Can't say i'm a fan of those stripes, they look very out of place.
  6. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) ? Illinois could of run the option all day on Wisconsin. Unexpectedly in the second half Illinois stopped doing it. Not to mention the fact that Zook decided to start trying to run between the tackles against Wisconsin. I really dont see how you could say the players lost the game for Illinois, when it was the players who got the big lead, and then it was Zook who started playcalling like Dennis Green. Of all the losses, this is the one you can least throw on Zook. There were quite a few things the players did to lose it, including: Cumberland drops a td Juice misses Halsey for a td Halsey fumbles a punt Yelton can't punt worth a damn Brutal Juice interception None of those are his fault. On top of that, that play call that didn't lead to the easy halsey td was a beautiful call that he doesn't get credit for because his players didn't execute. I'm not the biggest zook fan by any means, but the players need to do something out there, regardless of what plays are being called. This is the one loss out of all of them that i don't throw right on zook.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) It's called bad management. Instead of having nobody on the team, you "improve" by building one around only a couple of guys that can't get hurt. They went from the 90's Clippers (giant suckfest of nothing) to the 2000's Cubs (relying on a couple injury prone guys). And how the hell were they supposed to go about that in one summer? Look, they lost their 2 top forwards, and their 3rd best one is just coming back form injury. Any team's scoring would go down with those injuries. The hawks are building the right way, and injuries have cost em early on. This past off season was a good one by Dale, regardless of how many goals they aren't scoring right now. You weren't going to turn this team into a stanley cup contender in one summer with bandaid fixes. We're a few years away, and we knew that going in. Nothing's going to happen til toews and skille get here and are impact players. BTW, if you could tell me how the injuries to havlat, handzus, or ruutu have anything to do with injury prone, please enlighten me. Because none of them did, if you saw how they went down. So don't use that weak argument.
  8. Another interesting Delaney comment: "We have a phenomenal conference. Players compete, coaches compete, fans are enthusiastic. We don't need complicating factors on top of that. It makes great (newspaper) copy, but I don't need it, and I don't want it. I'd like the players to like and respect each other, the coaches to like and respect each other. If you don't like each other, at least respect each other and be candid."
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) Well, to be fair, the Illini WR's make up for all the drops by not getting any sort of seperation from the defenders. Very good point my friend
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) I disagree. The Illini's biggest weaknesses have been, by far, WR and special teams. If those 2 facets of the team were just below average (instead of awful), 2-7 would be at least 5-4, more likely 6-3. However, yeah 3 of the top 5 d linemen in the nation would be nice. Wait just a minute... Are you saying constantly dropping passes makes the WR core a weakness? Depth at WR, to respond to Rex Hudler...yeah, not a problem here,
  11. QUOTE(Wedge @ Oct 28, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) That's being generous. I can think of like 60 teams better than ND. Good one
  12. What a pathetic 2nd half showing. Yeah so we didn't get blown out, big deal. Win a damn football game. If we do anything in the 2nd half we win the game, instead we play like a bunch of high schoolers. Frustrating as hell.
