  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) I don't get too excited about 27 year olds' stats in AAA although I agree, he can't be any worse than Rios. KW did say earlier this year he was a lot better player than most people thought. That bolded part so much.
  2. Have to at least try a low ball offer, but like others said, RP not our biggest need right now.
  3. 23rd in defensive efficiency, though... (balls put into play converted into outs).
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) Let's just leave our new Carlos Lee in the minors forever. That should help so much. Fixed your comp.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) I got to see him play yesterday in Washington... that guy's pretty awesome. Dude. we were at the same game! What a clunker, though.
  6. It's kind of amazing how average we are and how many deserving guys we have. We've really been stars and scrubs this season.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) Why should they? The only exception I would accept is if they want public funding for a stadium or something like that. Otherwise it is nobody else's business, except MLB. You're right, but it'd be really interesting to look over, even if I have no right. I find that stuff fascinating.
  8. NBA Thread is like a teen drama sometimes, and I kind of love it.
  9. I'm college basketball-stupid. Can Butler play the 2 at all?
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) I'm listening to Cowley on the score and he basically just called Gavin Floyd stupid (said he needs a lot of help to do cross-word puzzles, if he couldn't pitch, he'd be taking orders at Windy's). I've heard the crossword thing from him before. I lol'd
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) I think Lids just sells Charlotte's, not Birmingham's or the others. Team sites should have them. I remember the Silver Hawks (South Bend DBacks A ball) had them.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) He's 17 for his last 42 at the plate. So he had success in a small sample of plate appearances. Where should we put his statue?
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) I can't understand why AJ is taking so much heat on this board for most likely wanting Ozzie to take that piece of garbage out of the game. Because AJ sucks at baseball and I'm pretty willing to blame him for anything.
  14. It has to be Ozzie for me. Managers are just less important than GMs, and Kenny's just been terrible the last few years.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) .305 BA 1532 R 2552 H 443 HR 1531 RBI 148 SB .938 OPS - 18 seasons .267 BA 1006 R 1885 H 294 HR 1182 RBI 24 SB .806 OPS - 16 seasons Player A is more likely a HOF than player B. Position and quality of defense matter...
  16. About the same, which is not a good thing.
  17. Third Base in general is kind of an awkward place HOF wise. The defensive difficulty of the position is underestimated so voters expect too much offensively. I'd say Ventura is definitely a fringe HOFer IMO.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) There really is no excuse for Pierre to play instead of Quentin. Dunn in RF might end up being a disaster. Humber doesn't exactly miss a lot of bats. BTW, Collmenter sounds like bad news. He's a guy who throws 87 and uses his change 25% of the time. Hopefully, our advanced scouting told our hitters. I feel gross defending this, but Q does need time off sometimes.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) Don't forget the atrocious deals for Juan Pierre, Andruw Jones and Manny Ramirez...they've impacted the Dodgers as much as anything else. ... but enough about the White Sox Though I loved Jones.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) I'm a season ticketholder so I get a lot of letters from the White Sox. When they raise ticket prices, according to them its not about trying to squeeze more out of me or maximizing their profit, its about trying to cover their costs. Then they're lying to you. And honestly, what are they supposed to say?
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) Then they have no reason to raise ticket prices every year. We will agree to disagree because I think guys like Alex Rios, even if he were halfway decent, making $12 million a year, is silly. Seriously, $12 million is a lot of money. If you can sell something for more, you do it. Or did capitalism end?
