from rotoworld: Manny Ramirez - OF - BOS The Providence Journal's Sean McAdam says there are five teams involved in talks with the Red Sox regarding Manny Ramirez and that the three-team trade with the Mets and Rays is the least likely scenario right now. McAdam said two other NL clubs and two AL clubs, one the White Sox, are looking at Ramirez. We're guessing the Cubs and maybe the Dodgers are the NL clubs. The Angels would make sense as the other AL team. Jul. 29 - 9:54 pm et

Wagner Rumor from Phillies Post Game
AWhiteSoxinNJ replied to AWhiteSoxinNJ's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) I don't buy this at all. Phillies are in the race for the WC, and they've been telling their fans they won't trade Wagner. I'm calling BS. The Phillies will lose him regardless...plus with the comments he's recently made, he's not very liked right now... -

They replayed the comments on Comcast Sportsnet Philly tonight... John Marzano has been reporting the Sox-Phils trade for a few days now so I hope he isn't just repeating old news... -

QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) hawk just said that nevin was traded for chan ho park, problem is both players have a no trade. Nevin's no trade clause doesn't apply to Texas, but Chan Ho does have one, and will likely wave it according to Rotoworld: The Padres and Rangers have agreed to swap Phil Nevin and Chan Ho Park, with Park heading to San Diego if he is willing to waive his no-trade clause. The Rangers aren't on Nevin's no-trade list. Park can veto the deal, but he's expected to accept it. Obviously, it'd be a great switch for his ERA and the Padres are more likely than the Rangers to advance to the postseason. Right now, there doesn't seem to be much room for Nevin in the Texas lineup, although a Richard Hidalgo trade could change that. With the roster as is, he should only play against left-handers. Torii Hunter injuried tonight... Torii Hunter - OF - MIN X-rays on Torii Hunter's left ankle were negative. The Twins are calling his injury a strained tendon. He'll fly back to Minnesota tomorrow for an MRI. At the very least, it seems he'll miss the rest of the series against the Red Sox. He could miss considerably more time, depending on what the MRI discovers. Jul. 29 - 7:58 pm et -
Huff hits #13 tonight...

How many times has Buster come out and say "a deal could be done as soon as tonight"? This won't happen, just like the two AJB deals, how Wagner is gone soon, etc. I highly doubt the Mets will take on the contract along with Carlos B's aswell.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) With most of the big names not likely to get moved -- AJ Burnett, Jason Schmidt, and Billy Wagner -- I don't think there is anyone on the market worth trading Brandon McCarthy for. Not Aubrey Huff, Eddie Guardado, etc., etc., and definitely not Danys "Blown Save" Baez. We don't know for a fact that they are not getting move, it could be teams blowing smoke to drive up the price. This is the closest this team as to winning and years, if the deal is right, McCarthy is a goner, its the nature of the trade.

More stuff... Danys Baez - R - Devil Rays The White Sox have reportedly stepped up their interest in Danys Baez. ''[baez's agent] said that the last few days the White Sox are being really aggressive,'' Baez said. ''I'm just waiting for Sunday.'' Jul. 29 - 9:46 am et Source: St Petersburg Times

Another thread from the same message board states the following: The Phillies have supposedly told a bunch of teams that they're keeping Wags because they believe they are still in contention. They certainly told the White Sox. "According to a source in the Sox organization, the Phillies, who still believe they will make a playoff push, are standing firm on their decision to keep Wagner. The source also said board chairman Jerry Reinsdorf had given permission to pick up the remainder of Wagner's $9 million salary for the 2005 season. However, none of that mattered to the Phillies." http://www.philaphans.com/forums/showthrea...&threadid=26843 Lets hope the Phillies keep losing this week...

Found this on a Phillies fan message board. Its from the Daily News Live on Comcast Sportsnet in Philly. (Daily News Live is the Chicago Tribune Live verison in Philly). The Phillies analysist John Marzano said the following: Marzano has an incredible source in the White Sox Organization that told him that White Sox have contacted Ed Wade and told him that they are willing to do anything possible to obtain Wagner. They would give-up multiple prospects or aquire someone the Phillies wanted through a 3rd party. Ed Wade told them that they are in the pennant race and would not be taking offers for Wagner. Here is the thread with it from the Philles message board: http://www.philaphans.com/forums/showthrea...&threadid=26883
