QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Says who? He's one of the best relievers in baseball now. He's been fine in the setup role this season when given the chance. I don't think I've every seen Cotts in the 8th or 9th inning with a save opp. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Simply boggles my mind. Cotts hasn't allowed a run in 15 outings. Yet, Marte continues to get the call before him in most of the crucial situations. Cotts is a 5th-7th inning middle reliever...not a setup or closer.... -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) No, it's our teams game to blow. Contreras doesn't have a lot of success going deep into games. I meant pitching wise...he has no control over our awful offense... -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) I'd pull Contreras here, but I'm sure he won't be. Two well hit balls by the Yankees, and with Marte warming up, I think he'd have good success against Tino. It's Count's game to blow... -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Crap, so the Giants aren't selling. And neither are the Marlins...0% chance AJB gets traded according to Buster and Stark.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Good....gives us a chance at Baez and Huff. Exactly...

ESPN Baseball tonight says Tampa out of the Manny 3 way trade...

I guess this rumor is done since no news has been reported in 6 hours...

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the White Sox are trying hard to get Aubrey Huff and/or Danys Baez from the Devil Rays. The White Sox may have to part with Brandon McCarthy to get either and definitely if they want to get both. Even though they're loaded with outfielders, the Rays may also want a member from the group of Brian Anderson, Chris Young and Ryan Sweeney. 2004 first-round pick Josh Fields, a third baseman, is another player sure to be involved in talks. The Baseball Tonight crew has learned that Manny Ramirez will not be traded, ESPNews reports. OK. Ramirez was scratched tonight and the Red Sox still aren't saying why. His hamstring may be giving him problems again, but it's not just that. Jul. 30 - 7:15 pm et

The Red Sox and Mariners are talking about Eddie Guardado, but Seattle wants two of Boston's top pitching prospects. The Red Sox aren't going to pay too high of a price for Guardado. A source told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer that there is now a ''50/50 or less'' chance that the closer will be dealt. Jul. 30 - 7:38 pm et

anything new on the score with this rumor?
-
From Rotoworld: ESPN's Jayson Stark believes the Twins have a chance of acquiring Alfonso Soriano from the Rangers using J.C. Romero, Kyle Lohse and Bret Boone. The Mets and Cubs also remain possibilities for Soriano, although the best guess now is that he remains a Ranger until the offseason. Jul. 30 - 6:44 pm et

Since we have a day game tomorrow, I don't expect any deals for us till after the game. -
from rotoworld: Manny Ramirez - OF - BOS The Providence Journal's Sean McAdam says there are five teams involved in talks with the Red Sox regarding Manny Ramirez and that the three-team trade with the Mets and Rays is the least likely scenario right now. McAdam said two other NL clubs and two AL clubs, one the White Sox, are looking at Ramirez. We're guessing the Cubs and maybe the Dodgers are the NL clubs. The Angels would make sense as the other AL team. Jul. 29 - 9:54 pm et
