Borch in for Dye

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) BMac = the s*** He's been unbelievable lately. If he could add a few more mph to that heater, he could be, dare i say, a RH Santana! I don't see how you can leave this guy off the postseason roster.
-
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) So if it ends up Boston-Sox and Yankees-Angels, who gets the night games? Does the NY factor trump all? Well let's see.....Ny vs. La or Chicago "White Sox" vs. Boston?? I think the answer is fairly obvious unfortunately.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Can I ask why? Ortiz vs Rh's = .....As much as Marte has been inconsistent, I think he's the only guy in our BP, besides Cotts, who could possibly get him out w/ the game on the line
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Against Ortiz, I'd put Cotts and Politte in before Marte. Cotts, IF available, yes. Politte NO.
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) who said Cleveland won't win tommorow and the yankees will beat the red sox and cleveland won't win the Wild Card. You guys are pretty much saying that the Sox will automaticly win. I think we will probably lose tomorrow as our BP needs rest. But I would highly doubt Boston loses w/ the Yanks playing their scrubs....... But then again, you never know...............
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Well that was a fun argument for nothing. We both got our points across, agree to disagree. I guess what I'm saying is I'd rather have Marte vs Ortiz then Hermansen/Politte/Jenks or Viz. But that's my opinion
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) The only time I want him coming in to face a lefty is when it's just him and Viz left in the bullpen, anyone else in our pen besides Vizcaino should be in to face a lefty way before Marte. To be honest, neither of those two are going to get much work at all in the postseason if you ask me. I understand you don't want to see Marte come out of the BP unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. I'm not going to sit here and keep defending him, I agree he's been disappointing, but he also has the ability to K a LH if we need him....And Actually I meant we should have taken El Duque over Viz not Marte.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) This argument started cause you said we need Damaso as a lefty specialist, and I said that's not where he should be used. Well that was 2 pages of pointless argument. If he's on the playoff roster than what do you suggest we do w/ him? He should ONLY come in to face a tough LH if Cotts is unavailable or has been used.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) First off, era for a reliever against one side is probably the most pointless thing ever. he gets righties out for then lefties as they hit WAY WORSE worse against him Marte Vs LH's 23 ip, 24 hits, 15 bb, 32 K's, 1 hr. Vs Rh's 22.1, 21 hits, 18 bb's, 22 K's, 4 hr
-
My point is Damaso can at least come in and POSSIBLY k a tough LH in a pressure situation. What Can Viz do again?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Who gives a crap about k's so he can strike them out when he rarely gets them out, problem is he can't get them out. A .387 obp for a lefty specialist..are you kidding me??? Damaso is much better against right handers because he can actually throw strikes to them. Also, needing two left handers to force the opposing manager to make moves is just crap in my mind. He has a much higher era, more walks, less SO's and more Hr's vs Rh's
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Lefties are hitting .261 with a .387 obp against Damaso, that is absolutely horrid. He can not get left handers out. 32 K's in only 23 innings cannot be overlooked. Plus, Oz leaves him in there too long. He should only come in to face 1 or 2 lefties, and NO Rh's in crucial situations. I also think Cotts should be 1st choice, IF available........ But you do need 2 LH's to force the opposing manager to think about making moves.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) NO, Marte can't get a damn lefty out to save his life, in no way, shape or form should he come in to get left handed hitters out, I don't give a damn if he throws with his left hand or not. We need 2 LH's out of the pen. Period.......BTW, vs LH's, Marte has a 2.35 era in 23 innings w/ 32 So's and giving up ONLY 1 Hr.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) It's pick your poison with any al playoff team, that's why they're in the playoffs. My point is... would you rather face Boston's offense or the Angels pitching?
-
QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) I know it's not official yet, but today's events make it very likely that we'll play the Bosox in round 1. That is the one team I wanted no part of. I realize their pitching is weaker than NY or the Angels, but Ortiz and Manny send a shiver up my spine. Plus they are the defending champs. I certainly wasn't rooting against the White Sox this weekend, but I was sort of hoping they would lay down for the Tribe. I like our matchup against LA much better. Now the Tribe will have to win 2 straight and Boston will have to lose 2 straight for that to happen. I still think we can beat Boston, I just like our chances better against the Angels. If you ask me, it's pick your poison. Would you rather face Damon/Ortiz/Ramirez/Varitek? Or Colon/Guerrero/Lackey/ Rodriguez?....... If you ask me, I think were better off facing Boston w/ homefield advantage. But if our offense doesn't show up, were screwed. Where if we face the Angels, and our pitching doesn't show up, were screwed. Flip a coin.

QUOTE(GreenSox @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:12 AM) I'd like to see ElD on this playoff roster. He's a great postseason pitcher and could be a terror out of the pen for us. I agree, Viz should have been the odd man out. Marte needs to be our situational LH. Cotts/Politte should share the setup duties, while Hermansen/Jenks close it out. That leaves Viz, who to me, is pretty much useless if you already have El Duque/ MCcarthy for long/middle relief and/or extra innings. Not to mention, I don't trust Viz to get a big out if we need him, so to me his value is nill.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Haha the Cleveland announcers....."This is just like a playoff game"....yeah because I'm sure the other team in the playoffs puts in their b squad to get work in. It is for them, and the pitching has lived up to that as well. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) How can you be pissed at Marte? Hafner hit a soft single to left, and Martinez hit a decent pitch down past a drawn in 3rd baseman. That is true. I'm not going to blame Marte for this one. He got beat on some pretty good pitches, and he didn't walk anybody -

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) What are you talking about? If we play for real today, we would have creamed the Indians today. With our AAA lineup, they still have such a tough time to beat us! I highly doubt we would have creamed them. Milwood has been nearly lights out against us all year. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) Damnit Marte...it would have been nice to win this one easily and not care at all about the game tomorrow. When it's 1-0, nothing comes easy. Timo needed to get that run in and failed. -
