  1. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) i havent seen cameron play in a while, but if his OF defense is where it was 2 years ago (which is unlikely) id have him in center....one of the most unheralded defensive OFers of the last 10 years...in his prime he was just shy of andruw and hunter I completely agree. The game I watched Linebrink against Atlanta, Cameron just OWNED center field. He moves like a gazelle with a rocket pack, sprinting effortlessly to catch up to balls and steal hits. He'd help Dye who, although an adequate RF, doesn't seem to move real well... I'd put Anderson in LF, with Gooch leading off. It would be a plus OF.
  2. On my drive home tonight, Bruce Levine said that he'd heard that the Sox were looking at Scott Linebrink, right handed middle relief specialist of the Padres, and expected a deal "in the next two weeks" also to include Mike Cameron. Although vague, Bruce thought minor league pitching might get the deal done although it may take a Sox starter to get the deal done. I saw Linebrink last weekend against Atlanta and he looked terrific...I know there's a Linebrook champion amongst the esteemed SoxTalk community. Talk amongst yourselves.
  3. Any of you stat guys know how many double plays Paulie has hit into? Seems like a bunch.
  4. QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) cliff pollite = not a very good baseball player anymore And he's blocking the opportunity others to establish themselves in the Show. Make the move tomorrow.
  5. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) This might explain a lot. We need a good excuse.
  6. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) He is just laying in first pitches right over the heart of the plate. Not caring was too harsh, but he is not focused. Think Cooper can fix him?
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) We need someone to get a hit with RISP. Just a base hit please or a double in the gap. Yet we choke again. Stop launching every pitch into the air. A couple singles or double will work. Yet I forget we score the most on the dong in all of baseball. We live and die by the dong. I agree southside irish (from DG!)...It seems we've lost our ability to execute "Ozzie Ball" that won us a Series.in favor of SmashBall. (Pause to gasp that we didn't defend the bunt!). One base at a time. Singles+bunts+stolen bases=runs, yet we've forgotten how. Today we can't execute on defense. And Beurhle can execute his pitching strategy. The sky is not falling, but it's not looking good. What's it all about Ozzie?
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) It may be time to start getting very concerned about Buerhle. I'm with you...he's slow and hittable. Getting consistently RIPPED. Pitching like a Pony Leaguer. Think the Cards still want him?
  9. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) I think we should seriously look into this. It's clear pitching is our biggest weakness but there's too many egos and feelings that could be hurt, so it's likely that nothing will happen there. We're going to have to out-homer teams to keep winning. And as much as I'd like to pledge my trust and undying love in the hands of Greg Walker and this offense with 4 guys having career seasons, I think this team would look much better with Jones. If Ozzie thought Anderson's hitting wasn't a problem, there's no way he would give Mackowiak's glove 3 starts in CF this week. And Mackowiak shouldn't be out there. EVER. It would be very nice to acquire Jones w/o giving up Anderson, allowing us to play Brian in left, shoring up the OF defense. I've seen way too many balls popping out of Pods glove.
  10. QUOTE(chisoxfan14 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Kay.....So i went to the game yesterday and excitinnngggggg! The minute I got there I had my I Love Willie sign and he saw it the second i stood there, and he started waving, and had this huge smile on his face! So alll batting practice i had to wait while he played 2nd base, outfield, then he went to the dugout, and came out to bat! While he was standing out there talking to another BoSox player, that guy looked at me, and was pointing and talking to Willie then Willie turns arounds and wavessss and i waved, and wanted to cry. then like motioned for him to come over and he game me a thumbs up! So after he got all his batting and such in, He came running over, and gave me a biggggggggggggggggg hug! and I pretty much died right there, my mom video'd it, well tried. She's technology challenged! But he was like HEY GIIRLLLLL HOW'D I'D KNOW YOU'D BE HERE WITH THAT SIGN, HOW YOU DOIN'? I'm like I'm doing great.. I MISS YOUI SOO MUCH, and he's like YOU KNOW WHAT, I MISS BEING HERE! then he had to go, but i'm like will you take a picture, he's like sure for you. and my mom does not knw how to work it, so it's just half of my face, and half of his! But whatever, it's still good. Then before he left, he's like come on girl, give me another hug! I'm liek ahhhh! Ok! Then i had to sit down, and cry! so i did! Everyone around us, were just shocked..THey were all staring at me while i was crying, like wtf, why does he come over to you! and the funny part was thre were these Bosox Fans next to me the whole bp, and were trying to get players to come over, and they didnt' even look, and all i had to do was pretty much stand there! =] But yeah, that man is amazing! I love him sooo muchh!!! So my video is on my myspace, obviously. www.myspace.com/biggestsoxfan Like, OMIGOD, gag me with a spoon! :rolly
  11. For all the Sox Talk's Anderson critics...THAT'S WHY HE'S IN THERE!! He saves runs. Defense = Wins
  12. Looks like Garland is dealing -- throwing strikes!
  13. I had the same thought as other posters: Aside from his early season success, Vasquez is not pitching well enough to hold a starting positon on a World Series team. He has the talent, but has not developed the capablity to keep a team in a game. What is it -- lack of mental toughness? Is he afraid of hitting someone? He seems to be aiming pitches, mostly outside corner and low. Is he afraid to throw high and tight? He looks afraid to me. For $10 mil/year, he's not getting the job done and, I agree, should be demoted to the pen to develop BMac's capabilities as a starter. Put him in the pen and make him re-learn how to pitch in critical situations. From my perspective, he's a blocker -- BMac has more upside and could help us improve the overall consistency of our starters.
  14. Outstanding comeback...guts and Taguchi!!! Now, six straight against the NL weaklings.
  15. QUOTE(Dan @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Ross was touched by the hand of God, havent you known this? I thought you had this one for a second!
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) So, we went 5-1 this week. Excellent week!! Anything less than a 3-3 trip vs the Cubs and Pirates would have to be considered a disappointment. Thank you, Mr. Pessimism, for that much-needed optimistic perspective.
  17. Found this today in MLB Rumors.
  18. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...eball/whitesox/ Ozzie gets it -- I'm glad he's gone public.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) This is Exhibit 1 though of why Tracey can't be a MLB reliever yet. His control is way too erratic. Major league reliever or just major leaguer?
  20. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) What do you expect when your team is getting bent over by the Indians. Frustration! Not personal attacks on posters and F-bombs.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Man, do you ever not get personal? Take it easy on the guy.
