  1. I'd like to see someone with some speed on 2nd right now...and AJ replace Widge behind the plate.
  2. No.....not the great Fausto Carmona!!
  3. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) I hate Fox HD, it looks like absolute crap. You got that right -- all blurry and pink. You can barely see Sabathia grabbing his crotch.
  4. I completely agree that an offense like ours ought to be able to accomodate a defensive specialist in a key outfield position -- especially when we have a left fielder who cannot be counted on to make a routine play. Anybody remember Jim Landis? (ok, I was a little kid) Like Anderson, that guy won games for the Sox with CF defense. It seems the issue here is not Anderson's lack of offense, but instead this '06 team's inabiity to execute offensively when needed. We cannot advance runners and score runs in key situations despite having a killer lineup. This team and these coaches ought to take a good look in the mirror and address problems we've seen. For example, we still can't bunt. :banghead :banghead :banghead These problems bring a higher focus to the weakest link -- in this case, Anderson. I think this kid will make it big once he comes out of this fog.
  5. This game is on crapppy WCIU SoxNet....(ouch...hit first batter) Why did they just say that Comcast was offering this in HD? I have Comcast HD and its nowhere. What am I missing?
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) Went over there this morning, the setup was very cool. Nancy was on the organ, got to meet her which was awesome. Got my pic taken with that beautiful trophy and found out that I am ineligible for the online ring raffle. Kalapse, I was there at the same time! I found later that Farm - i - o wasn't coming until after 12 noon. Send me an email and tell me where you work -- we might be in the same biz. Ventura23, good lookin' helmet you got there! Go Bucks!
  7. After two chilly failed attempts to have my picture taken with the Sox 2005 World Series trophy, I'm pleased to report that my employer, Motorola, is making it happen! Tomorrow, a bunch of Motorola Sox fans will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with tthe 2005 Sox trophy at work. Ed Farmer will be there (should I ask him about the Al Cowens incident?) and they'll post our photos online and allow us to download them and print our own copies. I'm syched! On 2 occasions in the Western suburbs this winter I stood outside of US Cellular stores in the cold only to be shut down. Here, I can do it at work and meet "the droll voice of the Chicago White Sox" at my place of employment. It's nice to work for a big Chicago employer that sponsors the Sox! MOTOSOX!
  8. What scares me about Bobby is his pitch placement. When he's thowing 96 - 100 in the high end of the strike zone he's UNHITTABLE. He's ineffective when he throws that same fast straight pitch between the knees and waist. We saw hitters hit ropes off those.
  9. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) Welcome to soxtalk It seems some of the posters like to have a "whipping boy" in VA fan. Thank you Beck for a positive, constructive response. I've been lurking for quite awhile....especially while I'm home on vacation. I really appreciate this site's excellent and knowledgeable posters!!
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) I'm too lazy to read the whole post, but I'll just say, please stop with these VAfan. You are proud that you're "too lazy" to read a post longer than a single thought? I'd keep thoughts like that private, were I you. BTW, it was a terrific post -- what's up with all the animosity here?
  11. I gotta confess: Freddy Garcia -- afer all his meltdowns and mental issues -- makes me nervious EVEN WITH A 6 RUN LEAD. Who comes out of the pen for the Sox?
  12. Colon can't pitch cause he's too damn fat. finger ! Thank God we couldn't afford him and had to settle for our top 4 : Scotty P on base again!!
  13. Forgive me fellow SOX FANS for I am a sinner. While thoroughly enjoying this season, screaming aloud at the sensational defensive plays (Rowand), the late inning, game-winning homers (Perczynkski, et. al.), dominating pitching (Buehrle, Garland, Contreras, Cotts, and Politte) and timely execution (TEAM), I have doubts. REAL DOUBTS about this team -- the best Sox team I've seen since 2000. (Been a rabid fan since early 60's). I worry about: > this teams' inability to score more runs -- especially against rinky dink 4.75+ ERA-havin' pitchers. > our brain-cramping pitchers (Garcia/Contreras) who can totally blow 2 innings, then be perfect for 6. > our shortstop who, while being an above average fielder with a "plus" arm, cannot hit for average or achieve a consistent on-base percentage > ditto for our 3rd baseman > what happens when Harpo (aka Harold Baines) has to manage if Ozzie gets kicked out. (will he come out of his coma and speak??) > our lack of an established, strong-backed, dominating closer. > Ozzie's overuse of the bullpen > Ed Farmer. Period. So, I've confessed and I feel better. It musta been the Prozak (or was it the Cialis?) Let's hope and pray that our Sox "bone up" to overcome our dirly little doubts. Best to you all.
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) I can't believe people are actually suggesting that Ozuna is better than Willie. He can't draw a walk, he can't hit the ball to the wall, he doesn't have the speed Willie does, nor the range everywhere. There is a reason this guy is 30 and has not even been close to seeing the majors in a few years. He is a decent ballplayer...gets a few hits when you need him to, plays decent D, and has decent speed - all great aspects for a good backup player. Willie, on the other hand, is streaky, but gets much more hits, has a little bit of power, has better speed, can draw a walk, and plays outstanding defense at 2B. I can almost guarantee that Willie Harris is a starter somewhere at some point in his career. Scouts, GMs, and coaches will be too intriguied by his defense, speed, and plate abilities to deny him the chance. I was sweating at that game today in 'Sun N Fun" Section 145 Willie failed to execute a bunt in extra innings (let's face it...he can't bunt) athough -- to his credit -- he threw a strike from SS to the plate to nail a runner. Willie doesn't have what it takes to win. Raw talent, undisciplined, and incapable of delivering. If someone sees value in Willie, let's strike a deal and get someone we can build with!
