  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 09:29 AM) Its not like Mackowiak has really been better with the bat...maybe I should go double check and see for sure but whenever I see him he is getting out. Your Correct... Ozzie keep playing the Kid.
  2. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Yes, I watched many in person. He got to allot of deep balls playing deep, but did not get to allot of balls that should of been caught that fell shallow, maybe that's something they factored in as well, who knows. You actually see more when you see them in person than over the tube. Not to mention, his throwing was very bad at times.
  3. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) Did you watch the games last year? If you did, which I'm assuming that you did, I don't know how you can deny the fact that he deserved a gold glove. Yes, I watched many in person. He got to allot of deep balls playing deep, but did not get to allot of balls that should of been caught that fell shallow, maybe that's something they factored in as well, who knows. You actually see more when you see them in person than over the tube.
  4. Yes.. I have a Rowand Jersey. Yes I like his ethic, but is he in the top 6 CF's in the game... NO!
  5. Kalapse, we shall see at the end of the year. If i'm wrong i'm wrong I have no problem with being wrong. That's why they play the game, nothing is given. Some of you make him out to be a little short of great, from what i've read. he's nowhere to great... read back for yourselves... you can start on that Rowand gold glove thread last year! Some stuff there is pretty funny.. that's where the "Rowand is god" statement flourished.
  6. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) LOL
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) That breaks up the streak that the Sox and Yankess had for the first 10 games of the year of WLLLLWWWWL, damn Yankees didn't hold up their side of the deal. If they only had Rowand, he would of caught that single somehow! Joke for all you Rowand lovers
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Torii Hunter being the superior offensive player is debated to say the least. Just because Andruw Jones plays the same position doesn't mean Rowand can't win a GG this year. As a matter of fact I think Arow has a damn good chance. to each his own, His chances are slim to none at best. We shall see at the end of the year. I keep forgetting.. rowand is God.
  9. He's a better offensive player and defensive player period... Yes. match them both up in the same amount of games.. Hunter comes out on top! Thank you Andruw Jones... we wont have any conterversy this year or the next few.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Hunter has played in more seasons, so duh, he'll have more. Just using one from your book, duh. hence last years?
  11. Bottom Line.. Rowand 2006 in Philly , Thome here. Winning is the bottom line.
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) Win Shares last year Rowand: 11.4 batting, 7.6 fielding Hunter: 8.5 batting, 3.8 fielding lol with 59 more games played.. try career.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) Aaron Rowand career 103 OPS+ Hunter 100 OPS+ not to mention Rowand's amazing personality and ability to become one of the biggest fan favorites the team has ever had. That is great.. that great ops got him to Philly. Hunter has won more games for the twins than Rowand has for the Sox... bottom line is winning, thats why thome is here and Rowand is in Philly.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Okay, looking at the numbers, where exactly does Hunter excel over Rowand at the plate? Rowand's stats Hunter's stats For one, Rbi jump out at me... Rowand played 59 more games than Hunter did last year, and still trailed in Rbi and Hr's? Now if you take the defensive plays that Hunter has done over his course... theres no contest there. Rowand had a good year last year playing very deep... Hunter has always played well on Defense. I believe Hunter has taken away more homers in 1 season than Rowand has in all his career. If you look closer at the seaonal average, hunter drives in more runs.. scores more runs and most of all plays better defense!
  15. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Yeah I'm not really 100% sure about that... Stack the same amount of games Rowand has played with Hunters when he started... I think you would change your mind very quickly! Hunter is a better defender and offensive player that Rowand will ever be. I dont judge on bias opinions here, I love the Sox just as much as any Sox fan.. but to state that a Sox player (check that Ex Sox player) is better than a " Proven" other player is nutz. If I had to pick between Rowand and Hunter for my team, I dont even blink... I take Hunter. That's what makes this game fun... some guys just pick guys they like, while others take a player that helps out more.
  16. Well, it's safe to say we wont have any controversy... about him getting robbed ever again.
  17. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) Hunter didn't even play 100 games.. Confirmed agreed... but you take a healthy Hunter over Rowand anyday.
  18. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Caruso, he did beat the CUbs in 1 game extra inning affair
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Except for the fact that Torii Hunter only played 98 games last year and shouldn't even have been considered for the GG, where as Chavez played a full year of stellar defense. Hunter shouldn't just automatically win every year just because he's been good in the past, if he plays less than 100 games in the season he shouldn't be in the running. Chavez is a great defensive 3B and him beating out Crede last year was acceptable. Very true... the man that got robbed was Wells not Rowand.
  20. Bucks down 8 with 8 minutes left, and Sixers also lose.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) There is a reason that we play all those games b4 April Pacers lose in O.T.
  22. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Stronger case is Crede vs Chavez... I'll take Hunters over Rowands defense anyday! Not to mention his bat as well.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Its all about the name, not the play in the field. I think that Torii Hunter and Aaron Rowand proved that last year, or Derek Jeter and Juan Uribe. Stronger case is Crede vs Chavez... I'll take Hunters over Rowands defense anyday!
