I guess a 1-2-3 inning was too much to ask for. Gotta create drama where there once was none. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Maybe it's me, but the Tigers are a better team with Thames in the lineup than they are Young. I agree. Young never impressed me. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Jones gives up more deep fly balls that are caught on the warning track than any pitcher I've seen in a long time. Also, His home park is one of, if not the best pitchers park in baseball. Many of the fly ball might be 5 rows deep at the cell. -

I am a little surpised the Tigers have not been bitten by their lack of a dominant closer more often. -

Is Todd Jones the brother of former closer Doug Jones. They are both equally good. -

Todd Jones is the worst closer by far on any contending AL team. -

7 innings and three runs is more than I would have asked for out of Freddy. Not pretty, but it worked. Now Sweaty Freddy, hit the shower. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) JD hasn't hit a bomb in awhile. Man. It does not seem like we have a hit a lot of homers recently, yet we are winning. Coincidence? -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) This is the exact type of start I take from Freddy all year long. He's not the dominant pitcher he once was, he's gave us innings and will try and give us another while keeping the team in the game. Thats all you can ask for out of Freddy at this point, he doesn't have the stuff to go out and WIN games, but he's fully capable of keeping you in games and giving the team a chance to win the game. I don't disagree. Though I would be hesitant to use "good" and "Freddy" in the same sentence. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) Just like if we followed your philosphy Cintron wouldn't have pushed the envelope in the first inning and went for 3rd. Had that happened we wouldn't have scored a run that inning and who knows what could have happened. Dye got picked off, he almost never does, s*** happens. BA running in that situation is text book baseball. If it doesn't work, oh well, you got Pods leading off the inning and thats what you want. Of course they went down 1-2-3 the next inning but oh well. It is really nothing worth getting bent out of shape about, and I don't think either of us are. I guess I can only tolerate so many outs being made on the bases in one game. ...even if it seems to be more than this game. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) And with your philopshy we'd be s*** up a creek anytime we ran into a good pitcher. You are right, let keep stealing when we have not shown we can steal on I Rod all series. The problem here is that we are not so much facing a good pitcher as running ourselves out of innings. -

QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) it's called being agressive, get over it cardinal rules of baseball are 1st out at 3rd and last out at 3rd, other than that, i know of no rule about trying to steal second, he was trying to get him into scoring position. what don't you understand? it was a good idea. You can be aggressive. I prefer to win baseball games.
