  1. Not for trading Willis. I'd sell high on Olivo, yes. Maybe get a good C prospect from a team in need of a C right now who doesnt want to go with youth. Impossible to sell high on Mitre, since he is quite possibly the worst pitcher ever. Borowski, I'm glad we kept, although I am not sure I'd bring him back. I am in favor of Kensing, Martinez, or Tankersly getting a shot at the closers role next year.
  2. I was hoping we'd trade The AJ for him and Anderson last season. Sucks really.
  3. BTW I wasn't dogging any of your starters or their talents, just saying there is sometimes no use bringing them in while McCarthy doesn't get a chance.
  4. Why does your team continuously bring in old pitchers, sometimes at high cost, and let McCarthy, a stud youngin never get a chance? It doesnt make sense to me.
  5. We drafted Resop. Your thinking of Bowyer. I really did dislike that trade. Luiy could of brought back more value IMO. As for Olivo, I know he's one of your boys but I really am not that high on him. His offense is an abberation IMO and he makes Piazza look like a gold glover. For a guy that could easily go back to a .200 hitter and plays crap defense, the fact that he might make $3 mil or more in arbitration this offseason makes me think he's too much of a risk to take.
  6. The dodgers are putting it on us tonight thanks to good ole Matt Herges...and poor fundamentals. Anyone remember when Herges was good? He's shown flashes of it, but cant consistently harness it.
  7. Garcia and Delgado are both bullpen arms with nice upside. Delgado had TJ surgery, but like any other TJ patient the velocity came back nice and strong. The could both, theoreticially, proges fast. The only bad part of the Boston trade is we lost Big Tex, who is my favorite player. I also liked the Cubs trade(except Mitre, whom I consider one of the worst pitchers to ever make it to MLB). Nolasco has poise and thats nice to see from a young pitcher. And Pinto, off and on, has performed well in long relief with the big club this season. The only trade I personally didn't care for was the Castillo trade. Mostly because of the return we got.
  8. BTW...I've always heard of Olivo's strong arm, but none of you ever mentioned that he was so horrible in every other aspect of defense from behind the plate. Cant block balls in the dirt, cant catch the ball, cant block the plate. While his bat is a big pleasent suprise, his defense alone almost makes me hope we find a different option at C in the offseason.
  9. One of the most expected transactions of the year.
  10. How bout we just play you guys there this year? BTW, if I am not mistaken we go to your house next year in interleague, which is good as I was looking forward to another trip to US Cellular.
  11. Thanks all. I myself have been very impressed, and am having more fun watching this season than the previous two.
  12. We were not supposed to be good this year. We were supposed to challenge for the worst record of all time. We had a team full of kids and a rookie manager. Yet, so far, we are defying the odds. I thought I'd ask you guys what your opinion was on my favorite team. If we have defied your expectations, what you think the future of this team, do you think we can realisticially compete for the rest of the year(and next year for that matter)...basicially, what are your thoughts on the team Beinfest has assembled?
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) 2 years ago Carpenter was 15-5 with a 3.46 ERA and was 4th in the NL in WHIP. Last year he won the Cy Young and he is dominating so far this season. Sure doesn't look like a 1 hit wonder to me. He didn't really deserve the cy young last year though. And 2004 he wasnt anywhere near dominant, and he was horrible his entire career before that. I'm not sold that 2005 was the real Carpenter, he still strikes me as a 10-15 win high 3 low 4 era type pitcher.
  14. I personally just have trouble seeing Carpenter as dominant. I see a guy that was horrible in Toronto, and then just becomes dominant? To me, the guy is still a 1 hit wonder. As for Mulder, he hasn't been all that great for a while.
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) What do you think making a waiver claim for Joe Borchard MarlinFan? At least Jacbos has a fairly good K/BB ratio I suppose. He does need to start hitting soon though. Borchard would be making an addition just to make an addition. He's fairly inexpensive, but at the same time not a good hitter. He wouldn't help or hurt the team IMO, just another empty uniform...but we already have that in Eric Reed, Joe Boworski, Sergio Mitre, Brian Moehler, and Matt Herges, who are all complete garbage and worthless as far as being professional baseball players.
  16. Alot of teams top pitching prospects(or top 2 for that matter), wouldn't be in the top 5 of our current pitching prospects. Dont forget Uggla either, a beauty steal from the rule v. I am hoping Kris Harvey can continue to progress, and end the year at Carolina. He's got a cannon and a good bat. I'd like to see him in LF next year(I am in the slight minority, but think he can be ready next season), and have Willingham behind the plate. And, I dont like Jacobs. He's looking more and more like a bust, I personally would like to trade him before his value depreciates totally.
  17. I'm glad he's doing well, but I dont want him on this team past this season. I like the total youth movement, and I think in the long run a 1 year stop gap is what Olivo has to look forward to season to season.
  18. I'm prob the only sonb**** dumb enough to have 2 Valley teams in the elite 8
  19. I've changed mine to Duke, Gonzaga, Illinois, and Ohio State... Ohio State over Duke in the final
  20. Marquette over UCLA in sweet 16, UMW over Oklahoma, Ohio St. over Villanova, Gonzaga over Memphis, NC State over Cal, SIU over West Virginia and Iowa, Mich St over UNC, Wichita State over Tennessee and Mich St. Illinois over Uconn
  21. Go Creighton! Creighton, Maryland, Louisville, Minnesota final four Creighton/Louisville final Creighton 61-55-NIT Champs
  22. We'll just have to stomp some big east ass(altho, I think all 4 will lose in 1st round)
  23. Ok, and make your sig "Salukis Are the most dominant team in Illinois collegiate basketball"
  24. I find it kind of...depressing that, in all but Bradley's 1st round game, the MVC drew all big east. I would love to see all 3 win(and in the bracket i filled out, they do), but ESPN would go flippin nuts if the Valley...the conference that for the most part they have called overrated and undeserving of so many bids...beat the Big East, who they thought all along should get more teams in at the expense of the Valley.
