for her safe return.. http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/NW...W.3ec9ff1f.html FBI joins search for missing Lakewood girl 05:52 PM PST on Sunday, December 4, 2005 KING Staff and Wire Reports LAKEWOOD, Wash. - The FBI is aiding in the investigation into the disappearance of a 10-year-old Lakewood girl. While the ground search has been called off, agents were with Lakewood Police Sunday and provided sonar equipment to search American Lake. Police also say two girls called police, saying that they saw Adre-Anna Jackson on Friday afternoon in the parking lot of Woodbrook Middle School. Adre-Anna disappeared Friday after she left her apartment for a five-minute walk to Tillicum Elementary. Her family said they didn't realize she was missing until late Friday afternoon because they didn't know the school was closed because of snow. On Saturday, Lakewood Police searched the girl's apartment, as well as nearby American Lake for clues to Adre-Anna's disappearance. From Friday night through Saturday afternoon, up to 120 searchers and family members knocked on doors, handed out fliers and searched nearby parks and neighborhoods for the girl, but turned up few if any leads, said Lakewood Assistant Police Chief Dave Hall. Police are interviewing family members and those close to Adre-Anna. The girl's disappearance, for now, is being treated as a missing person's investigation, Hall said. Adre-Anna's mother, Yvette Gervais, said the fourth grader was carrying a black and pink backpack. She was wearing blue jeans, possibly a blue shirt and white tennis shoes. She's just under 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 78 pounds. She has brown hair with reddish highlights. She may have been wearing a puffy black coat or jacket. The girl lives in an apartment with her mother and stepfather. Neighbors said they would often see her out alone and at least one of them suspects there is trouble at home. "This is not an abduction," said Samaria Walker. "It's better really to look closer to home."

I would guess it wont be the last time he's singing that NSync tune.. I think he's a scumbag, and she's an idiot. Thankfully, she's got enough $$ to get that kiddo some therapy. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/story_page.../showbiz4.shtml SPLITNEY CALLS IN THE LAWYERS By Rav Singh BRITNEY SPEARS has had secret meetings with lawyers to discuss divorcing husband KEVIN FEDERLINE. The fed-up singer called them to her Malibu mansion earlier this week as her marriage crumbled. But it didn't stop there—she also sent back his £100,000 Ferrari 360 Modena to the dealers and got it towed away. A source close to the singer, 24, told me: "Britney has gone through hell and back recently with Kevin. "He's been going out and partying, leaving her at home with their son Sean Preston. "Britney has given him a lot of space but he's been taking advantage and doesn't seem to care. "She called in the lawyers because she's had enough. "It was her birthday on Friday and she flew to Vegas with friends to celebrate without Kevin." Two days before that she kicked him out after he brought a dope-smoking mate back to the house. She also fired two of her bodyguards for letting in the man, whom she has dubbed the "weedman". Kevin then checked into the Beverly Hills Hotel, but rather than feel remorseful he carried on partying until the early hours. Not to be outdone, Britney called her friends and went to the swanky LAX club in Hollywood. An insider told me: "She was knocking back Grey Goose vodka and Red Bull. "She was dancing with her mates and bumped into JOHNNY KNOXVILLE from Jackass. They were laughing and joking together. "It was great to see her happy and smiling. She's been looking miserable for ages."

http://wmaz.com/news/top_stories.aspx?storyid=20466 Camera in School Bathroom Web Editor: Raymond Ruda Originally Created: 11/30/2005 6:53:06 PM Last Update: 12/1/2005 7:56:47 PM November 30, 2005 - 6pm A Jasper County mother says her 8th grade son found a video camera taping in the school bathroom this week. But now, he is the one in trouble. Cindy Champion says her son, Mac Bedor, and a few of his friends took the camera out of the ceiling because they felt it violated their privacy. Champion says her son brought the camera home to show her that afternoon. She says when she contacted the Jasper County Comprehensive School, she found out high school principal, Howard Fore, put the camera there. She says Fore told her he put the camera in the boys' bathroom to catch students vandalizing. Champion says her son is now suspended for taking school property. CINDY CHAMPION, MOTHER: "I had told the high school principal, Mr. Fore, that he needed to come up with another solution. That this wasn't appropriate. His response to me was he was going to continue to film." Jasper County Superintendent, Jay Brinson, sent a faxed response to Eyewitness News. Brinson says high school principal, Howard Fore, placed the camera in the bathroom last Sunday to control vandalism. He says Fore put the camera there "to discover the identity of those doing the damage." Brinson says the principal did tell Cindy Champion that the camera would be installed again. But in his statement Brinson says, "The camera was not placed back in the restroom, and will not be placed back in the restroom." Eyewitness News tried to contact the Ocmulgee Circuit District Attorney about the legality of placing hidden cameras in public school rest rooms. He covers that area. Eyewitness News was not able to get in touch with him. But, Eyewitness News did talk with Bibb County District Attorney, Howard Simms. He says cameras in public school bathrooms are legal because schools have more leeway on privacy issues.

http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/120...ended02-ON.html Teens describe ways to kill teacher in journals Associated Press SANTA ANA, Calif. - In classroom journals, two star football players wrote in graphic detail about brutally killing their high school English teacher, covering her in gasoline and lighting her ablaze. But in court papers, they say their teacher told them those entries would never be read, so they should be considered private thoughts, not threats. Scott McKnight, 17, and Sam Smith, 18, were not criminally charged, but were suspended and face expulsion. An Orange County Superior Court judge was scheduled to rule Friday on whether the full journals should be sealed or open to the public. McKnight and Smith and their parents say in a court complaint that teacher Alyssa DiSomma violated their privacy by reading the journals. They argue they should be allowed to attend school as they await their expulsion hearing. The students were suspended Oct. 20, after DiSomma reported the entries to school officials. The case has divided Tesoro High School in the affluent suburb of Rancho Santa Margarita, where the teens were ranked among the top football players in Orange County. The entries refer to gluing the teacher naked to a wall and cutting off her feet, and killing her family while she watches, according to court documents that quote partial excerpts. The teens' family members have said the two wrote the entries as a prank and egged each other on. "I am planning on coming in your room late one night while you're still working," reads one partial entry. "I will smother you in gasoline and light your head on fire." Orange County Superior Court Judge Corey S. Cramin judge ruled that the journal entries could not be considered private. The court also upheld the teens' suspension. "Private thoughts lose their identity as such when they are reduced to writing as part of a class assignment and turned into the teacher for grading," Cramin wrote in the ruling last month. The court said it couldn't keep McKnight and Smith from playing for the Tesoro Titans pending their expulsion hearing - but the two were benched anyway because of California Interscholastic Federation rules. By the time the disciplinary process is finished, the season is likely to be over. An expulsion hearing was postponed until late December at the request of the boys' attorneys. David Smollar, spokesman for the Capistrano Unified School District, said that efforts by the boys' attorneys to "play to public opinion" have hurt the district's ability to conduct a normal disciplinary process. Privacy issues aside ... I guess the parents aren't concerned about their kid's writings. I can hear their defense now: "They were just having a little fun, Your Honor. Afterall, boys will be boys." :headshake

Sosa: Several teams interested for 2006
Steff replied to greasywheels121's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) I dont. But I wont discount the interest that was brought to the game in that homerun race, it definitely created a "must-see" sort of atmosphere for the last two months of the season, which is pretty important for baseball in the end of the season. However, I also cannot discount that the same fans that could have been drawn in by the homerun race could have been turned away by the headlines caused by steroids. Like the old saying goes, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." Solid stance - and likely dead on for those who were "brought back". I guess it's just hard for me since I never lost interest.. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) It's such a tough area with kids. With adults, it's easy. If one adult says to another, "I'm gonna beat your ass," then that's assault. Kind of weak, but it does threaten imminent harm. But, as bizarre as it seems, this culture gives some leeway in that regard to parents disciplining kids. And that line is not consistent in the law, or easy to determine. For me, I'd probably have to see something more than a slap or a spanking, but I can't say for sure where the line is. More so than any aspect of that job, I hated having to intervene where kids were involved. Just made my stomach ball up every time. I'm not a hitter.. so that line bugs the hell out of me.
