QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 4, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) I think Konerko breaks out of that slump tonight. Let's hope so... -
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 4, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Likewise... Touche...

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) True, but wasn't Belle always better than Konerko offensively? I mean, even Belle's "bad" season in '96 (though I probably shouldn't comment, I only started following the team real closely in '01 or so) was really good. Ack -- I meant '97 up there... True.. there is no comparison offensively. I was just making a point that Paul could still do well with the condition. Not Belle #'s.. but great Paul #'s..

http://www.newschannel9.com/engine.pl?stat...format=%M+%e,%Y John Pless May 3,2005 36 year old Tony Pope is being held in the Hamilton County Jail without bond on charges he murdered his wife Andrea, her 13 year old daughter Brianna Justice and the couple's six-week old son Christian Pope. According to police and court records, Pope confessed to the killings. Chattanooga Police investigator James Tate said in an affidavit that Pope told him his wife wanted a divorce, but "did not wish for the marriage to end in divorce and stated that he was married until death do us part." Police say Mrs. Pope wanted to leave the couple's Helena Drive home Monday night with her children and planned to stay with a relative. Those relatives became concerned when she did not arrive. Records show a relative called Pope asking where his wife was and he at first said she left with a friend. During a call later Monday evening, Pope said his wife was in the laundry room. Police say relatives then called police to the Pope's home to check on her well being. Officers found the body of Andrea Pope in the laundry room. Upon further investigation officers found the bodies of Pope's daughter Brianna and the couple's newborn son Christian. According to Pope's statement to police, he cut the telephone lines going into his house and covered an outside light's motion sensor with a towel. Pope's statement shows he killed his wife with several blows to her head with a hammer. It goes on to say he strangled Brianna, and after she fell on the floor he kicked her in the chest. Pope said he then went to Christian's crib, pulled him out and strangled him. Pope said he put the infant's body back in the crib and struck him in the chest with his hand. Chattanooga Police fugitive detectives spent the night looking for Pope. By Tuesday morning they got a break. Records show Pope spoke with his boss at East Chattanooga Lumber company about 7:30 Tuesday morning, and talked about fleeing to Florida. Pope was talked out of leaving and remained at the business, records show. Hamilton County Court records show Tony Pope pleaded guilty in 1995 to killing his then-girlfriend Susan Yarbrough by beating her over the head with a frying pan. Pope served six years in prison and was released. Records also show Pope was found guilty in 1993 of simple assault against another woman and got a suspended sentence. Pope is being held in the Hamilton County Jail without bond on three counts of first degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court May 11.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Well, if that hip is declining that badly... then, I don't know know if I want him getting extended. A guy who will enter his 30's with a hip problem? Yuck. Albert was over 30 when he had his monster season with us...
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) Steff, I'm not arguing with you but he still can turn around a fastball. Maybe he doesn't trust that hip causing him to cheat more then he has to?? No arguing.. Paul says it's not 100%.. I believe him.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) Ha, I knew that was coming from you But it's true, most of the time he's able to clear his hip so quickly that he can just adjust to the fastball when he's not looking for it. Next time you get to a game.. try to be down by the section 144 - 147 area.. watch him warm up. Watch him walk. It's the same exact swagger as Belle... Paul is not going down as fast as Albert did.. but he's definitely worse than he was last year.
-
I don't even watch ESPN unless we are playing on it.. Edit: I lied.. I watch it when the WSOP is on it.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 4, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) It's the same problem it seems he always has one he's slumping, he's pulling off the ball, openig his left shoulder up to quick. Right now the down and away off speed pitch is getting him every time and when he gets a fastball he's to quick and is pulling it way foul. He needs to try and work the ball to right and right center, if he starts doing that he'll just react to the fastball and still be able to hit it hard because he can get his hips open real quick to get to a good fastball. Pauly needs to just stop cheating and try to hit the ball to the opposite field, if he does so he should get back in the swing of things soon.

Call the Sox and ask them...???

I agree Jim.. didn't look like 12K there to us either. The Club was packed for sure.. and I'm sure the bar was also. I was shocked to see all the cars in the lot when we left.. there was a bit of a backup out of E. We did not expect that at all. I don't think tonight will be much better and tomorrow will likely be worse. I don't really care.. they have my $$ and my butt is there 50 times a year.
