  1. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Hey, that's good to know. I go past there on my way home from work. I'll just stop in, ask for a Sox schedule, and they'll probably ask if I want smoking or nonsmoking, and I'll just say, 'Nope, just wanted my schedule, seeya'. He said there was a holder of them by the cash register.
  2. Co-worker just told me he got his at Bakers Square on Roosevelt Rd in Lombard.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) And their fans would do the Sox proud as well Brian alone could..

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Unless you get more than 5%, you're really not getting jack when you consider the cost of living goes up by like 3-4% every year if I'm not mistaken. So, sure you might get a 4% increase, but if everything is 4% more expensive this year than last, you broke even. I'm pretty sure you're mistaken. For starters.. housing has gone down the past 2 years. By your logic.. those that don't get raises at all would be living in boxes on lower Wacker which is not true.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) How many people work for you? Sounds like we're in a pretty similiar job. Directly (as in help me) 4, but I get the joy of reviewing and recommending raises for 9 cause my boss is L-A-Z-Y.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) You should tie their scores to their percentage. If they do average work, they get the company 3%. If they are above, they get above, according to the rating system. That's how it works out in the end. I just have to detail how I got there which is a pain in the ass. They don't even really look at it.. unless I give out, what they think is, too much.. then they are in my office wanting me to explain..

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Well most empty suits think because you carry a degree you will know more than anyone and that in itself is BS. I would rather have someone who has experience and actually knows their job than someone with a degree and may not know the job as well. I see that all the time here at my job...the more degrees you carry the more they love you but its seems most times the more degrees they have the less they know about the job here... Definitely. I had to interview a girl a few weeks ago.. ink still wet on the degree... she didn't know one thing about People Soft - which we use a lot... interviewed another woman in her mid 40's who had no degree but could literally write PS queries... they wanted me to hire the one with the degree.. :banghead

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) That is totally wrong. It's all about $$$$. If you are making the company $$$, then they should pay you more $$$. Not becasue you've been there longer. Positions like staff accountants don't make the company $$ though.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Yeah that is pretty s***ty that someone who has been there for 10 years is making the same or maybe even less than someone who has been there less time. Their explination is that I have a degree.. the thing is.. several people under me don't have one.. but know a lot more than me and are more valuable to the company because they know more stuff. I have never been a fan of a piece of paper = more $$. IMO experience should be a larger factor in pay rating.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) Sounds to me like you could have a simple formula. Rate them on a scale of 1 to 5, and let that be their percentage. That's how I do it.. but then I have to take my % formulation and stick it into the scale that the executives want it in. It's so confusing. They don't use a straight %. Some empolyees get weird %'s like a 3.4.. or a 5.2.. it's strange.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) s*** if you're giving out 5% raises your employees will be loving you me thinks. Plus are you hiring?? hehe You don't want to work here.. the staff accountants I oversee aren't paid scale. It's sick. Most of them have been here 10+ years and their salary reflects those wages. I'm the highest paid in the financial department that's not an executive and I've only been here 5 years. Not that I'm complaining, but that's messed up for those at the same grade level who have been here lots longer than I.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) In my opinion, Steff, you are doing things the right way. It's a lot of effing work... but it's fair. I have some slackers and I don't think it's fair to just give them a raise if they aren't pulling their weight. When I meet with them they are aware of the pool amount and I give them a detailed explination of why I subtracted points and we discuss it. That way when they get their % they are not surprised.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) That's typical of the company I work for though... They are really backwards when it comes to productivity. FWIW we have gotten 3% for the last 3 years. I have a pool and can distribute up to 6%. Anything I save the company loves of course.. :rolly I don't have any empolyees that I feel deserve the full 6%.. but several are right at 5%. Sounds like that might be too much..

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) That's so typical in today's business world. Really...??? I use a point system to measure employee performance and base their increase % on that.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Our company has given us accross the board increases ever since I have been here. Reviews, attendence, work ethic; none of that matters here. And now no one cares or works particularly hard because of that. Really...? That's weird. I have to have my people's increases in today and I'm wondering what the rest of the world is getting.

Anyone gotten one lately...? I'm wondering what the average increase % is these days..
  18. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) He's a jerk on the show, but Trump does like some things about him. He likes people that are fired up and excitable. Not some drone spouting off statistics and numerous degrees. And 90% of that "jerk" persona is edited to keep people watching. Angie even said that he was not at all as bad at they edited him to be.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) I'm a couple of shows behind, but from what I've seen from this season, the contestants are definitely on a lower level talent wise, than with the previous 2 seasons IMHO. I agree with that 1000%.
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Poor people skills make him not likeable. If you don't have people skills, you really don't have bussiness skills, just my opinion. He's still on partly cuz he's a jerk. Jerks get ratings, even if it's just people rooting against him. I know plenty of successful people with horrible people skills. One has very little to do with the other in many fields. Especially in real estate, which he is in. Do you even watch the show..? He's a very smart guy.
  21. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) How many mistakes can this tool on Comcast make? Dr. Zero? WTF? FWIW, I don't like them at all.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) I know he has three saves but he only has two cheap ones. He closed out the first game of the year with one full inning pitched. I get it now.
