QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) I don't know what I was typing... I did mean first base. Man I gotta lay off the booze at 8 am. LMAO.. Jim just asked if you guys were driving with us.. then followed it up with a "probably not if they want to see the first 3 innings.. " I'll mail those, OD, and the others out on Saturday.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) I honestly can't remember the suite number, I do remember it was on the 200 level, right behind second base. We are going to get a late start getting up there, because the wife has to work until 2:30, but we will be up there for the game at least. I'll get you the info as soon as I know for sure. There aren't any suites behind 2b.. I can't remember the # either but IIRC it's in line with 1b.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) Many people are exploring the husbands life, and using his actions to justify what should or shouldn't be done to Terri. I wonder why this isn't a two way street? Why aren't the parents actions beign explored, since the husband's seem to be so important? I hear ya.. It's all over this thread. JMO that I don't see the point.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) My next question is why is no one questioning the parents motives? With the links to bullemia, there might be some stuff to go off. There could very well have been abuse, and wanting to keep her alive could be an appeasement of their guilt. Why are we only questioning the husband here? IMo, it's beyond placing blame. If someone were to start looking into it.. what would it prove? Do the parents deserve to be implicated in a crime that caused her condition...? IMO, there's no need for that. What's done is done.. can't be fixed. A shame..

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) So bulemia is the eating disorder that was being referred to that she suffered from before she had the potassium issue? Yea.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Actually I had no idea about the bulemia. And my problem isn't with him having another life. If I'm on my death bed with only some shot at a recovery, I wouldn't want my family or wife or whoever waiting around for me. If I had a shot at recovering I'd like them to care for me and be there, but at the same time they can and better move on with there lives. Just like when I die, I don't want people all sad at the funeral crying. I want them talking about how great I was, LOL. Brain cells don't grow back.. she is never going to improve.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) I agree 100%. And it is also what I would want my wife to do. But my wife and I also agree that if our parents were willing to care for us, we would want that. If by being kept alive we could make our parents happy, we would. It seems like a fair deal for the people who gave us life. Steff, I admire your steadfastness on this issue. It is a difficult decision for most people to say that an innocent human is better off dead. I think your compassion for Terri is genuine and hope you don't mind our difference of opinion. I still think the husband is not the kind of person I would want my daughter to marry. No way do I mind... I appreciate it. And I understand the position you and Mrs Tex stand on.. I may think differently if I was faced with this. In my instance it would be me versus Jim's kids (his mom would likely not be able to handle the burden as she is 80 years old), and that's not something I would look forward to. Jim and I have orders in place.. they include him being creamated which I know his kids are going to fight tooth and nail... makes me ill just thinking about it.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) Yes, but its his attitude. Put it this way, my wifes dying. I'm sure we've had a talk. If she's a vegetable and had no choice, maybe you pull the plug. But you'd be sad about it and you wouldn't be interferring with the doctors who actually have had some hope that she would recover. As far as I'm concerned, if I have a shot at recovering I don't want the plug pulled on me, if I'm a vegetable for life, I'd probably say pull the plug. But this husband is a royal jag. He did everything possible to hinder her recovery, and was hoping she'd just die. I'd be damn sad and it would be a hard thing. I wouldn't just show up at the hospital going, Is She dead yet. I heard enough after hearing her nurse and some of her doctors talk. I think the other side of the story is that the prick husband did something to cause her condition. If these guy came off as sad saying he just didn't want to see her like this anymore with pain, etc I'd have a better feeling about it. But everything I hear is she has some semblance of where she is and smiles and kind of understands whats going on. Plus they think there is a shot she could recover. Not to mention the husband did all he could to interfere with the recovery. And just think, this is coming from me, the person who thought Scott Peterson should in no way be guilty based on evidence. For whatever reason I feel real strongly about this too. Still its awful that this is being handled in a public forum (the parents and husband fighting). So much for the other side of the story... :rolly You think he had something to do with this...?? Jason.. please read up on bulemia. He didn't have anything to do with this. As a matter of fact.. it was because of the bulemia that he won the lawsuit in the first place. As much of an idiot I think BOTH sides are.. no way did he do this to her. I strongly believe that.

I haven't said anything about this thus far.. but Terri was bulemic and was for several years before this incident - before her and Michael were together/married. Terry's parents have mysteriously never addressed anything that led up to this condition. I knew a few of these gals in high school... not nice home life's. I also know a recovering one - in her late 30's now - and she said her condition was a result of things that happened in her childhood. I am on no way, shape, or form blaming her parents for where she is now... but that's one of the things that makes me question them. I just don't think their motives are as innocent as they claim them to be.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) The husband = JAGOFF Two sides to every story Jason...

I don't know why him having another "life" doesn't bother me like it does others.. I guess because if this was me I would not want Jim stopping his life for me if he was told by several doctors that there was no hope and after 7 years I did not improve. I'd want him to have someone to turn to for comfort. You guys are human.. and with that is the need for companionship. I don't think it makes his decision easier.. I think it makes it more tolerable.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Edit, let me ask this a different way. Are you supporting her dying as the best course or are you supporting her husbands right to decide? I think there are two issues here. I assumed.. and answered.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Steff, is there a column for people that support her right to die, believe she should die, but her ex-husband shouldn't be the one making the decision? If her parents wanted the feeding tube removed and her husband was blocking it, would you still support the husband? I posted the link... I dont' recall seeing an option that you are asking about. Nope. In her condition I support it being removed. It's not about supporting her husband.. or the parents for me. I think both sides are acting like idots on this matter.

Judge ruled DCFS needs to keep their noses out of it also. Good news IMO.. they can't even keep track of all the children they are responsible for aor keep the ones they do know about safe from abusive foster parents.

Jeb Bush is running around like a chicken with his head cut off regarding Terry... but when it comes to tightening up things on child killers... Bail Denied for Suspect in Girl's Death Tue Mar 22, 6:02 PM ET U.S. National - AP By MIKE SCHNEIDER, Associated Press Writer LECANTO, Fla. - The man accused of kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing 9-year-old Jessica Marie Lunsford was denied bail Tuesday on murder and other charges, beginning a legal process that the girl's father wants to see end with a death sentence. John Evander Couey, 46, a convicted sex offender who sheriff's officers say confessed to taking Jessica from her home and killing her, had his first court appearance on charges of capital murder, battery, kidnapping and sexual battery on a child under the age of 12. "This is an infamous case here," Citrus County Judge Mark Yerman told Couey during the brief hearing. "The acts you are accused of and the crimes you confessed to are really beyond words." The shackled defendant, looking tired and downtrodden, answered a few questions, telling the judge he needed an attorney and had no assets. Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy said he will urge prosecutors to seek the death penalty. "I just want him to die," Jessica's father, Mark Lunsford, said Monday night on CNN's "Larry King Live." Couey was arrested last week in Georgia and brought back to Florida and booked Sunday on charges of violating probation and failing to register his change of address as required as a sex offender. The additional charges were filed Monday. Jessica, a third grader, was last seen the night of Feb. 23 when she went to bed after attending church. Her body was found early Saturday behind a house about 150 yards from her home, more than three weeks after she disappeared from her bedroom. Medical examiners said she was sexually assaulted and died of asphyxiation. Detectives might never know how long Jessica was held before she was killed since Couey was under the influence of drugs, officials said. Lunsford said he felt guilty that he was not at home that night. "We have to save our children from people like this," Lunsford said. "It's time to change some of our laws." Lunsford said he will campaign to get stricter penalties and laws regarding registering sex offenders. "They should be tagged, they should be branded," Lunsford said of sex offenders. Gov. Jeb Bush said earlier that he was wary about such proposals. "We should be cautious about doing something that would expand the net so wide as to not accomplish the desired effect and get into a problem," Bush said. Desired effect...??? Get into a problem...?? Hello... in case you didn't notice.. there already IS a problem...

QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Good point. And what point might that be... ?
-
QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I fail to see why that matters. Most people are answering these polls not knowing the things I listed earlier. Polls :rolly I dunno if it matters regarding anything.. Just thought I would post it for interested parties. Also.. and interesting FYI.. the Dr who claims she might be mis-diagnosed.. didn't even examine her to come to that conclusion. Some real talented doctors down there in Florida...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...thenation/32281 Exploiting Terri Schiavo 1 hour, 4 minutes ago Op/Ed - The Nation David Corn Will the exploiters of Terri Schiavo admit they went overboard? Her parents will not give up their battle to restore the feeding tube to their brain-damaged daughter. No one can fault them for holding on to hope in this tragic case and doing everything they can. But the Republicans who pushed through emergency legislation to "save" Schiavo and their allies in the media issued a variety of disingenuous claims. Senate majority leader Bill Frist, a heart doctor, suggested that he could diagnose Schiavo (by examining years-old videos) better than the several neurologists who have studied her in person and have found she is in a persistent vegetative state.
