Congressional hearing thread
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) I don't see how Congress can legislate baseball's record books. They can't... but I think it's awesome that they tossed that out there.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Missing 10 games in baseball would be equivalent to an nfl player missing 1 game. The NFL has 8 games (and it works) so it would make sense for baseball to have an 80 + suspension. IF it happened, that would be fine. But that's the point.. it's not mandatory that they are suspended and the "or" in there gives them the out that they can just be fined. And it's "up to" 10K.. meaning that the fine could literally only be $1.

Hmmm.... questioning the records that have been set since players started using.. and IF they were using during that time.. take the records AWAY!!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) I can't see this "one standard" based on the Olympic policy ever happening. Nope. Baseball will stop first.

Comparing it to NFL's policy now. MLB (players specifically, IMO) is being made to look like the assholes they are.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Yes. HOF pitcher. The only pitcher win at least 100 games in each league. (Phil/Det) He wants a 1 month suspention for 1st offense.. 1 year for second.. and OUT of baseball for 3rd.

IMO, they (the comgressmen) are making excellent points and I already don't see this as the "whitchhunt" that is was assumed by many it was going to be. Senator Bunny (HOF pitcher IIRC) up now..

Busy day in California courts...
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) From yahoo article: Doesn't sound like much of a case, but I didn't follow it at all so this could be completely misunderstood by me. I'm with you.

Bonnie's problem was that she had too many enemies.. there was evidence of at least 6 others (2 of them movie stars - Brando and Busse) wanting her dead. I didn't follow it as close as the Peterson case.. but IMO.. I agree that Blake is not guilty. As for Peterson.. he's guilty.. but not of 1st degree, and should not be on death row. IMO.

Frank must testify at Thursday's hearings
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) That's an interesting scenario. If you are testifying under immunity, can you still exersize your fifth amendment rights? Anyone know how that works? No immunity... lots of pleading the 5th tomorrow I imagine.

Scott Peterson was officially sentenced to death today. Guess Laci's family made some pretty powerful VIS, and the Peterson's left the courtroom in some sort of protest.. And the verdict is in on the Blake case. To be anounced in about an hour.
