Bee Regional Staff Published 2:15 am PST Thursday, November 18, 2004 Placer County sheriff's officers are speculating that a Colfax man who was found burned to death this month had stuck his booted feet in an oven to warm them. The boots apparently caught fire and the victim ran through the house as other clothing began to catch fire, said Lt. George Malim. The man then ran outside, fell on a pile of broken bottles, got up and tried to run again before collapsing and dying in the back yard, Malim said. "It had to be a horrible and painful death as he ran in a panic," Malim said. "He lived alone. No one was there to help." The victim, Grant John Wilson, 43, had a history of mental illness, the lieutenant said. Wilson's father discovered the body at his son's home on Placer Hills Road when he went to check on him, Malim said. It appeared the body had been there for several days, he said. Investigators found the oven turned on and its door open, leading them to believe Wilson had put his feet inside, Malim said. http://www.sacbee.com/content/community_ne...-12364276c.html

I'm not real sure what you're trying to say.. and it sounds like you're attempting to slam us for spending our money on our pet.... Was there any value to your post here, as I am obviously missing it.

Hartz over the counter brand of flea drops are extremely dangerous to cats. A cat owner had put the Hartz brand drops on her cat and the cat was having a violent reaction to it. Our vet said that Hartz often caused this kind of reaction. Hartz knows it's putting out a product that puts your pet in danger but continues to distribute it. Avoid this product at ALL COSTS and spread the word so that other pet owners can avoid the heartache of losing their beloved pet to this dangerous product. http://www.wpecnews12.com/engine.pl...akoutiteam.html http://kdka.com/local/local_story_223170447.html http://www.post-gazette.com/pets/20030226spet0226p2.asp

Normally I wouldn't, and never have. All my childhood we saved dogs never paying more than $50 for them. Ginger was saved and while she's a great dog.. not knowing exactly what her blood line is has been a challenge. This time we wanted a dog whos history we knew and temperment we could count on. In the end since we took both of them we only ended up paying $150 each for them (on most websites I saw they were going for $250 to $400 each). That's a dog with current shots and registered. After adopting it's that much anyway once you pay for all the vaccinations. I'm confortable with the decision to spend the $.

Hey Nuke.. where did you hear that.? I heard Seattle wouldn't touch Joe with a 10 foot pole.
-
Too long.. they say try to limit it to 2 syllables. Easier on the dog to learn I guess. And no.. I wouldn't name a maggot after that idiot.

If it wasn't for the 80+ lbs.. we definitely would have gotten one no question. Now.. I have to name this little s***. It's mostly white with black on the head and tail. Any suggestions?? It's a girl and the most she'll weigh is 16-18 lbs..

...Back From Thief Wednesday, November 17, 2004 An Idaho woman did a car thief one better — she stole her own car back. Cheryl Otero and her husband heard her 1996 Eagle Talon (search) start up in their Pocatello driveway just after midnight on Saturday, the Idaho State Journal of Pocatello reports. She yelled, "Our car's being stolen!" but the thief drove off just as her husband ran outside. He got into his own car to give pursuit, while Cheryl called police, then had her friend Cami Gelles pick her up. Husband, wife and friends — men in one car, women in another — combed the small city of 50,000 for the Talon. After a couple of fruitless hours, Otero told Gelles she'd fill her tank for her trouble, and they pulled into a gas station. Suddenly they saw a familiar pair of headlights. The women watched as the Talon pulled up to a bank of pay phones across the street. A strange man got out to make a call. Gelles quietly drove up to the Talon. Otero hopped into the driver's seat, stuck her key in the ignition and sped off. Rap music instantly blared out of the CD player. Otero noticed that her collection of Christian-music CDs and other personal items were gone. "As I'm driving off in my car," she related to the State Journal, "I'm wondering if I hadn't gotten in the wrong car because the interior was so different." Gelles was supposed to take off after Otero. But instead, she got out of her own car and marched over to the suspect. "You stole my friend's car!" she shouted. "You're going to jail!" He denied it, but she grabbed him and tried to hold him until cops showed up. The man started hitting Gelles, according to Otero, saying "I have warrants! I'm not going back to jail!" "She started hitting him back," Otero added. "She gave as good as she got. I didn't know that side of her." Finally, the suspect managed to wriggle out of the sweatshirt Gelles was holding him by just as an onlooker came up to help her. The suspect ran off. "You should have seen my husband's face when we drove up in that car," Otero told the newspaper. "His mouth was dropped to the ground, and we were like, 'Girls rule!'" Pocatello police Lt. Rick Capell said the women were lucky the suspect wasn't armed, but added that Gelles had given enough of a description to ensure a good chance of catching him.

..... thrown from car injures woman Police looking for group of teens RONKONKOMA, New York (AP) -- A 20-pound frozen turkey was thrown through the windshield of a woman's moving car, critically injuring her, police said. The bird was tossed out the window of an oncoming vehicle, and a passenger in the 44-year-old woman's car took hold of the steering wheel and guided it to the side of the road, police said. Police said a group of teenagers had purchased the turkey with a stolen credit card at a supermarket on the same road where the incident happened early Saturday. The teens were being sought for questioning. The 44-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition. Ronkonkoma is in the approximate geographic center of New York's Long Island, about 50 miles east of New York City. http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/11/18/tu...y.ap/index.html Idiots.

Well.. we went to meet the boxers last night. Man.. they were beautiful and sooo lovable. Then we met the mother and father.. they were also wonderful and very affectionate. But.. seeing them and their 80lbs in person was quite a shock. Ginger was only supposed to be 35lbs and as she stands at 60+ today I have no desire for another dog that big. So.. we played with them for a while. The breeders were really nice and actually helping us choose a dog more suitable for us. They had a rat terrier and it was adorable. Perfect size. Perfect for Ginger to not feel that she isn't the queen anymore. Perfect to care for. Realistically this was the better choice for us. I would have hated to get the boxer and then be sorry when it grew up. So they directed us to the breeder that they bought theirs from.. and she had 2 females 11 weeks old. So.. we bought them both (one is for my folks). We pick them up tomorrow night. They are so friggin cute. I'll post a picture over the weekend. Thanks MOS and SSI for the info. I am convinced that boxers are awesome dogs.. they just don't fit in our lifestyle right now.

Good thing... I'm sure we'll need all the tech support they have to offer.
