Rhett Bomar kicked off Sooners

QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) I was thinking the same thing about Mizzou. The game in Columbia looks very winnable now. Bah KU beat both these teams last year....were going to the big 12 championships. -
I want to drive the bandwagon, but i just don't believe we have a chance, due to our pitching. Give me a 5.5 game lead by the end of the weekend.

Levine Reports Interest in Hawkins
Jimbo's Drinker replied to southsideirish71's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Bombs away Levine now is reporting we are interested in Latroy Hawkins. I would take Latroy, not WOOHOo, but better than nothing -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) Why wouldnt they do a deal like that? Vaz belongs in the NL, especially the NL central. He could be a middle of the rotation guy in that division. You trade Vaz for someone, a reliever like Lidge, then move BMAC into the rotation and we already improved a ton. agreed 150 percent. Lidge, MacDougal, Thornton, Jenks, Riske WOW

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) rotoworld: The Houston Chronicle's Richard Justice reports that Astros owner Drayton McLane has ordered GM Tim Purpura to trade Brad Lidge. The Rangers are the team getting mentioned in connection with Lidge, but if he has to go, there will be more interested parties, starting with the Mets and Red Sox. The Astros could turn over closing duties to Dan Wheeler if they move Lidge. Let's all sing a song ready: Every contender gets better, gets better but the White Sox. Sitting on our hands is nice, when you want to play golf in october.

QUOTE(Disco72 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) Odd, the poll is almost 70/30 for "yes, make a deal" but the posts are almost 70/30 on "stand pat." I don't know if there is an impact player out there right now that will make a difference. This is the most talented Sox team in my lifetime (of just over 30 years). They can hit, pitch, and play defense...even if they aren't doing 2 of the 3 well right now. Making a move just to keep pace would be silly. I don't see why the national media loves this deal so much. If the Yankee pitching wasn't so horrible to begin with, it wouldn't be an upgrade at all. Lidle in the AL is worse than any of our poorly performing pitchers...but its pathetic that he's an upgrade over the 6-7+ ERA guys they were running out there. The Yankees have a great offense, but not great defense and not great pitching. The Sox are still a better team and need to play like it. you don't know what is available at this point.
