Why have a thread for this, its has a .com in the tourney name. -
this whole Syracuse run is cute, but I hope they have not burned themselves out of the real tournament next week.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 12:38 AM) Teams on the bubble everywhere will be wearing their Mizzou hats they don't own on Saturday. Baylor is such a weird team, I don't get how they were so bad in Big 12 play with the talent they have. If Mizzou can stop LaceDarius, they win. This kid is playing out of his ass.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) So why doesn't anyone use their brain and say Memphis isn't that good? Everyone knows their conference is ok at best so none of those wins will garner much respect from me, at least when you are talking about getting a #1 seed. But seriously, Memphis hasn't beaten anyone I respect. Their best wins are Gonzaga (who only has notable wins over bubble team Maryland, 7th best place in the Big 12 Oklahoma State, and twice over 10-6 in the SEC Tennessee compared to losses to bubble team Arizona, Portland St. and Utah), Tennessee (10-6 in the SEC as I said, not impressed at all) and then what? Seton Hall? Cincinnati? Those are atrocious 'good' wins. About as bad as any team in the top 4 seeds. Now let's look at their losses. Xavier, @Georgetown and Syracuse (in Memphis). Georgetown isn't a bad loss, but not exactly a good one. It's also pretty fair to say Xavier and Syracuse are the best 2 teams on Memphis' schedule, and Memphis lost, on a neutral site and at home. So can someone actually come up with a good reason why Memphis is one of the top 8 teams in the country? They have won like 395 games in a row in their conference. Thus, when everyone is beating up and losing in tough conferences ,they are raising in the rankings. I do know there is something fishy about that program and their absolute success with recrutiting. I do know, they have a date with Kansas next year, and we hope to beat them again. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Wisconsin's 1999 team wouldnt deserve to be on the court with any Bo Ryan team, yet the 1999 team went to the Final Four and Bo Ryan has never been there. Its not always about talent, some times its about match ups and breaks. Breaks is a big part of it, and also good coaching staffs. The ability to break down a team at rapid pace is very difficult. -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) I can't imagine leaving Miami for the Alabama job. The only reason I could think of leaving would be to get into a conference without UNC and Duke at the top. But if/when Florida and UK come back from their mediocrity, it's not going to be much different. Kentucky is looking like mediocrity will be around for awhile. -
QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) Yep three fouls was about right. The play at the end could have went either way. Please Va. Tech had every chance the refs played ZERO part in them not taking advantage of a golden oppurtunity to make the NCAA. Again I almost wish they would have won, it would have meant so much more to them. Not much of a difference maker for the Heels win or lose. Va. Tech is the king of losing the game at the end. I bet UNC would have preffered the rest in the grand scheme of things.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) I was thinking more of a REALLY good team from the year before (ISU finished #3) losing it's best player, but playing well the next year thanks to an experienced point guard, but losing some momentum down the stretch, losing in the first round to Baylor, and eventually blowing it in the first round to some MEAC school. We were better than Really good team, we were the Champs and we lost more than our best player, we lost our entire starting team.
-
Boy, UNC was given a gift in that game. Really, 3 fouls in 19 minutes in the second half.....and the amazing defensive play by TH at the end was such a foul.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) I'm liking Okie State. Is Kansas ISU 2001 reincarnate? Never got ranked as high, but that'd be something. I don't remember the 2001 Iowa State team. Did they have a starting lineup of 2 freshman, a soph, Junior and a walkon? Edit.... The team that lost to Hampton. I doubt that, unless the Buffalo Bison are the 15 sed. Give me a Sweet 16 run and this is a complete success for this year's team.

Lunardi has KU as a 2 in KC and OU as a 3.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) It would be a shock if Missouri doesn't win this tournament now considering how much better they are than everybody left in the tournament, even with the tournament not in Columbia. What a strange tournament this has been. Ok State looks really good, and are basically playing at home. James Anderson is the best player you have never heard of.
