  1. QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) No way. If Cora didn't send Cintron, everyone would jump on him. That's the right call to send Cintron home. I know, but whenever someone gets out at home, people (usually fathom, although he only does it when its deserved) whine about how Cora is horrible and sends everyone.
  2. QUOTE(jenksd @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) SAFE Nope, he was out. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) That's an absolutely horrific slide by Cintron. Yep.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) Man....why does everyone seem to be running in quick sand for the Sox? Great adjustment by Anderson, but Cintron has got to score on that hit with 2 outs. No bashing of Cora for sending him? I'm pleasantly surprised And yea, everyone looks slow
  4. That was a hell of a close play. Nice throw by Monroe, and tag by I-Rod.
  5. Monroe hit the Sox fan in the face with the ball. Get him!
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) Wow. It's such a rarity this year to actually have potential for a CG by our starter. Way too early in the game to say that. It's only the fourth inning, and a lot can happen by the 9th.
  7. Paulie is incredibly underrated with the glove at first.
  8. That same third pitch was called a strike in the first.
  9. Hawk called that Nice job by Pods there
  10. "That throw won't be low" It rhymes! That was a solid play by Crede. Not that easy, but he made it look simple.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) So is his stuff. I care more about the control. Pet peeve
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) Our crappy top pitching prospect so far tonite: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K People here really undervalue Broadway, and 'feel' pitchers for the most part.
  13. Count's control is leaving me wanting more.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) I thought the pitches were definitely strikes. They were high curves by Verlander, but they dropped over the plate in the strike zone. I think that where they ended up in the glove was a strike, but I don't think they crossed the plate as strikes. Then again, as long as its called for both teams, I have no problem with it.
  15. "Nice pick by Paulie, bad throw by Crede" You never used to hear that from Hawk.
  16. Lots of high strikes. We saw that last night in the beginning with Paulie too and for the rest of the night he was swinging at the high pitch.
  17. Garza is looking a bit wild in the first, but has good stuff. 2-0 Blue Jays on an Overbay double that went under the worlds best fielding centerfielder's diving glove.
  18. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) Did this really happen? Lol... Yep, the MLB has ESP.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Damn, I can pick 4 from just last season, and I wouldn't have a clue which to eliminate. JOEEEEE! CREEEEEEEEDE! plus Paulie's grand slam, Pods' walkoff, and Blum's game winner (was I right that those were the four? )
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Jim Thome is going deep tonight, I gaurantee it. I bet it will be a solo shot in the start of the game. That unclutch bastard.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) Unless Molina literally uses a walker (yes, he's very slow, haha), Iguchi had no choice but to throw when he did. If he waited until he hit the ground, then got to his knees and threw it, Molina would've been safe. I disagree, but to each his own. Either way, you saying that he was "a step from 1st base when the ball got to Konerko" is false.
  22. QUOTE(Dan Pasqua @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) That is exactly what clutch means. And I would put JT at the bottom of that list for clutch No, clutch is a "tense, critical situation" according to Dictionary.com From that definition, a clutch situation could be as early as the first inning or as late as the last (whichever inning that may be). Any time runners are in scoring position, especially with two outs, it is a clutch situation. Anytime your team is down 1-0 in the eighth inning with the dominant closer coming in the next inning is a clutch situation. There are too many different situations that are clutch for you to make a blanket statement about how clutch Thome is or isn't, just because he doesn't hit 9th inning homeruns every day.
