  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) Why the hell is Joe not on 3rd???? He's slow.
  2. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) Does that advertisement say TWins Icecream? Yes.
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) There was nothing said about Mulder in that article. Do you have a link for the piece that you're referring to? http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-ssep20.html
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) The ace of this staff wants an apology from all the haters, JGINAA promoters, and people who call him a lazy ass Cali boy who doesn't care about results. I am wrong a lot, but sticking with Jon is one of the few things I might have got right, kudos Garland!! JGINAA.
  5. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Last year the Sox were 4th in the league in stolen bases. They averaged .84 per game. This year the Sox are 14th averaging .57 per game. And yet, it doesn't matter at all.
  6. Just got back from Snakes on a Plane (excellent movie by the way), what happened so far? I see the crappy score, but who's to blame?
  7. I'm going to be watching Snakes on a Plane tonight, so I won't be able to catch the game, but this series is crucial. Lets play up to our competition and extend the lead in the Wild Card.
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) That sounds about right. In a full season, he could probably be a .290-.300 guy in avg, 15-20 HR. He'd walk less than Casey, but he'd steal a few bases. I'm thinking a Shea Hillenbrand type player minus the attitude and plus a bit of speed.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) The Rangers have quickly become one of my most hated teams in the last few years. I agree completely
  10. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) Lugo would be nice in a trade for Gload. Lugo for Gload and a PTBNL. By the way... If it happens... I called it. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53026 Lugo is a FA after this year who is looking for BIG bucks (with crap defense), so this deal would never happen.
  11. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) the movie opens in some places at 10 PM tonight who is going? I'm going to tomorrow's 8:30 PM showing, since my brother is coming here tomorrow afternoon and he wants to see it too. I cannot wait.
  12. Nice call by Cora sending Pods there, and great hit by Paulie
  13. It's not like Pods is in the pitchers head or anything.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Ozzie goes with Mack over Pods as the replacement leadoff guy. A sign of things to come? It was more than likely a defensive replacement
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) What happened? I still don't agree with using MacDougal last night. He's the type of guy who you need to keep fresh. Groundball right up the middle which Uribe picked up while standing on second. Easy double play. Nevermind, wrong thing
  16. Goooooooooooch Nice hit by Paulie, going the opposite way.
  17. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) It's funny how a certain few people can just twist things here. I said last week I'd be happy with taking 3-of-4 from the Royals. I know we can't win every game against them, but the Sox should be favored in each game because we're a much better team in all aspects of the game. That we don't beat them is mainly because of our poor play. The fact that we're 9-6 against them on the season is terrible. duh Isn't that the reason why we've lost most of our games this year?
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) Sandy's really doing wonders for Buehrle. Compared to what Mark was doing before Sandy came (without looking at numbers), he actually has been better with Sandy. Feel free to prove me wrong though, I'm just saying this from memory. Nothing to back it up.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) Lumsden was traded to KC for Macdougal which is why it said "OOPS" in his post.
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) They should surely be better than 9-6 with the gigantic disparity of talent/money between the two. I never said anything contrary to that. I simply said that saying the Sox should never lose a game against them is ridiculous. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) Come on... ANYTHING less then 14-0 against the LOWLY Royals is COMPLETELY unacceptable. If we were 14-0 against them, we'd only be .5 games back. WHERE IS THE REALISM HERE??!!?? *ahem* But then the Tigers would have to be perfect against them as well, as would the Twins
  21. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Actually, that's not the case at all. If, for example, it's Javy Vazquez against Curt Schilling, then the White Sox don't have an advantage. The Royals have the worst lineup in the AL, the worst pitching in baseball, and the worst record in baseball. But you make a good point. What you are saying is that the White Sox have the better team in all areas of the game, so they shouldn't ever lose a game to the Royals. If thats true, then the Royals shouldn't beat any team in the AL, since their team is clearly the worst in the league in all aspects of the game. This is the reason the teams play the games, the game is not won on paper. Am I excusing the Sox losing 2 of the games in this series so far? No. But to say that they should never lose a game against them is ridiculous.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) Since when is Garcia a salary dump? You don't trade him while his value is high simply so you can get rid of the contract, you trade his ass now because you have someone better than him waiting in the wings. I consider Garcia to be a salary dump because he's making 10 million next year, and the Sox know that BMac can at least duplicate his current numbers while making a much lower price, allowing them to invest money elsewhere. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) If the fact that we'd only clear $5M is the only reason you wouldn't make a deal then I'm not so sure I agree with that. I didn't mean that was the only reason I wouldn't make the deal, although I see how it could sound that way. While I think Furcal is a decent shortstop, there's just no way I can justify having him on the roster and paying him a salary to rival Paul Konerko and even Jim Thome. Even if the Sox are only paying 10 million of it, I think that the money can be put to a much better use elsewhere. Furcal is a solid leadoff man, and consistantly puts up an OBP in the .350 range while stealing a handful of bases at a normally high rate. However, when you factor in his ridiculous contract and the fact that he's had multiple DUI's, I just wouldn't want him on the team.
