Sox fans, Brace for Changes
QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 06:28 AM) even though you may not agree with it, at least my trade porposal makes sense and is quasi realistic, unlike a "podsednik for crawford trade". Unless you're playing MVP Baseball 2005, your trade makes literally no sense, and shouldn't be considering quasi realistic. The Rangers won't trade Young, a 29 year old shortstop who is making hardly anything, along with prospects for a 40+ year old pitcher who isn't as good as Sox fans think - and is on contract for another 3 years, making about $30 million - and a poor offensive shortstop (albiet the best defensive SS in the league) making MORE money per year than Young. That being said, it's better than the "john fields and another prospect for crawford" (or even better "javy and pods for crawford"), however that isn't saying much.

AND THIS BALLGAME IS OVA!!!!
QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) Unfortunately, my friend, you SHOULDN'T forget what happened at the top of the 9th. It is relatively alarming actually, that our closer was throwing "high school quality" fastballs and got not one single out. Something is definitely wrong with him, and if he ain't telling then Ozzie should beat it out of him. Hopefully Hermanson will get to proper form quickly 'cause we need a closer ASAP. Thornton threw some good cheese though. MacDougal is a closer, and has been excellent since coming over to Chicago.

Ryan Howard
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Prove that it can be done without steroids. How do you know that Howard isn't on anything? I'm not saying that he is, but you can't really prove anything either way. Also, I hate Bonds, and I'm 99% certain that he used steroids, but the record is still 73.

Defining Moments of 2006
QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) I though Gload's grand slam was the defining moment? I was there for that game. It was amazing

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) No, but he comes with a .366 OBP about 40 sb's and good defense. Trust me, I like him and he's a solid player. How many times has he been arrested though in the last few years? QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) I see Lugo ending up with Mets. They have a hole at 2B and he was a fan of theirs growing up. Pierre would yeah be more realistic (where's Jeckle with his PIERRE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!) posts when ya need him. BA >>>>>>>>> Pierre

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) I wish we did. I would settle for Ryan Freel. Does he come with one of these? If so, I'd love him too

Nice to see Daunte already back to sucking at a high level.

Pujols
QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) Duh! If you ask some people, they will claim its Ryan Howard, so I wouldn't exactly say 'duh'.

Playoff roster question
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) Funny how the immediate example you come up with is the cubs. It's more than funny, its downright hilarious Cubsessed strikes again.

Lets Give it up for Our MVP
QUOTE(Balance @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) 1.000 OPS is a good thing, but it seems that Paulie has been killing a lot of rallies lately. I mean, sometimes it feels like you can set your watch to it. We're frustrated. So punch a pillow. Don't say we're wasting money on one of the better first basemen in the league.

Lets Give it up for Our MVP
QUOTE(Balance @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) According to Whitesox.com right now, Paulie is hitting .267/.400/.600 this September. Ok, so what's wrong with a 1.000 OPS? (my numbers are from ESPN, I dont know how updated they are)

Lets Give it up for Our MVP
QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Maybe because he's been sucking as of late. Yea, that motherf***er is only hitting .333/.471/.750 in September (and before you say he sucked in August, he hit .336/.383/.500 then. Can this thread be closed/deleted now?) HEY PAULIE, HIT BETTER!

Lets Give it up for Our MVP
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Quiet, it's heresy to speak against PK. When you are saying the Sox are wasting money by having Konerko put up a .307/.379/.549 line with 30 HR, 97 RBI, then yea, its pretty much heresy.

Are you joking?

Ozuna?
Ozuna is not a starter, and shouldn't be. He's a good spark guy, but spark guys lose their worth when you play them daily.

Ryan Howard
As good as Howard is, there is no chance in hell I'd take him over Pujols. Not only does Howard have more than 100 more strikeouts, but Pujols also hits doubles at a consistantly high rate, is efficent on the basepaths (16/18 in SB last year, 5/6 this year), and has performed at this high level for the entire 6 years of his career, proving that he's no one-year wonder (not that I think Howard is, but its too soon to say he's better than Pujols when he isn't even better this year [which is up for debate, but thats my opinion], and this is likely the best year of his career).
-
Pujols
Pujols is, by far, the best hitter in baseball. In other words, yes.

brian anderson
QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) All I keep pondering is why we traded for Vazquez. Instead of Anderson as our future CF we could have been looking toward Chris Young to fill that hole. KW has a mancrush on BA, and with good reason

brian anderson
QUOTE(T R U @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:16 AM) Just my personal opinion that he doesnt get to .240 But saying "there's no chance" means that you feel somewhat strongly that you are right on the matter. I'm curious how you came to that opinion.
