Prime reasons why the 2006 White Sox failed to repeat
Felix replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
See, I thought the answer was not enough wins to make the playoffs. Silly me though -
One year does not unmake a whole career. Of course I would pick up his option.

Congrats to Josh, hopefully he'll continue to hit 1.000 for the rest of his career, and if he doesn't, well, hopefully his career will still be a success

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) the team you love. Its frustrating to have a dissapointing season, especially when we should have played better than we did. But thats baseball. Its why its the greatest game in the land. When this season is over, we can look forward to next year, and another possible run at it. We have a great core, great management, and a franchise that looks to be dedicated to winning for once. This is not the time to turn your back on your team, nor to act like a spoiled little baby who needs to pout about something that didnt go your way. These reactions are why it was so easy for me to get season tickets when I did, and why I was always one of the only people who went to every game. Why my section was half empty for several years, and yet at the beginning of every season there was always hope. If you all want to act like babies and cry and whine about how our team just couldnt win enough games, then so be it. I love this team, my life revolved around the White Sox, and I wouldnt be the same without the experiences that I have had with this team. When this season ends, I will be dissapointed, but we cant win the WS every year. Next year is a new year, filled with new hope, and a new schedule, and the Sox will be right back in it. And I will be in my seat as always, cheering for them.

QUOTE(tpezz27 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) Leads off an inning batting .185 Batting with a runner on second .208 Batting with a runner on third .111 Batting with first and second .188 Batting with first and third .200 Batting with bases loaded .000 Batting with men on and 2 out .190 Batting with runners in scoring pos with 2 outs .189 Batting with runners in scoring pos season .208 The only two situations he batted well were with second and third and with man on third and less then two outs! And now show how many AB's he's had in each situation, and tell me why samples that small should really be looked that far into.

The official Soxtalk 2006 predictions thread
Felix replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's always interesting to read these old threads, I feel silly for thinking Pods would do so well and Gooch would hit 25 HR. -
I'm a large BA supporter, but I'm sort of in the middle here. BA hasn't been that good with the bat when you look at the season as a whole, and I think Ozzie is doing that. If thats the case (which it likely is), then saying that he's not happy with how Brian has done this year is valid. On the other hand, BA has made tremendous strides since the start of the year, all while playing spectacular defense. In that sense, BA has had a successful season. His post ASB splits are impressive for someone who hit below .200 for the first few months of the year, and while they're no Jim Thome or Jermaine Dye, they are better than what Rowand put up last year.

This season has been a disappointment, but seriously, this team has 4 90+ win seasons in my lifetime, and it looks like this will be the 5th. It has still been a good season overall. That being said,, the high hopes coming into the season have really made this "end" to the season hurt, although technically, with Detroit coming to Chicago for the next 3, the years not over yet. (this isn't saying I expect the Sox to sweep Detroit) This might have been posted in these last pages, I haven't read them. If not, flame away

QUOTE(ILoveThisGame @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) 3) Jim Thome's terrible second half and Frank's great second half. Yes, Thome's post-ASB numbers of .280/.412/.516 have been HORRIBLE. That f***er sucks! QUOTE(ILoveThisGame @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) 4) Sox making no moves to their offense at the trade deadline. Genius, lets blame the second best offense in baseball!
-
If you trade Thome, this whole lineup will take a big hit in terms of production. Both JD and PK are having career years and are unlikely to duplicate their 2006 seasons in 2007, and the chances of them duplicating it drop if Thome isn't in the lineup. Plus, I dont know how much of a market would be out there for him, considering the fact that most teams have DH's, and he's still got a pretty large/long contract (IIRC) considering his age.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 08:43 AM) Contreras' isn't forty-plus! >D And El Duque is only 36, right?

QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 07:44 AM) I suppose that isn't scoffing, but he felt it would be "ridiculous" for the rangers to deal Young. EDIT: No wait, thats scoffing And I still stand by every word I said there. I think its pretty ridiculous to expect the Rangers to trade Young for a worse, yet more expensive shortstop and a 40+ year old pitcher who is signed for 3 more years and 30 million. If they were to trade Young, they ought to be looking for a quality young starter in return, otherwise they wouldn't be getting back the most that they could. If I'm wrong, hell, I'd be more than happy to see Young in Chicago, but I just don't see it happening. And wow, I just realized I said 'John Fields' in that post

I have a PCI slot open. I've ordered the sound card and speakers that you suggested, hopefully all will work out fine. I'll update this thread once I get them and such, thanks for the help guys

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) well this settles it. If that series ends up meaning something (aka-were not eliminated by then) I will throw a Pre-Game/Post-Game Party at one of the watering holes up there. I have 2 of them in mind, but Im going to check into things first as the date gets closer. Will be pretty easy to find each other, we'll all be wearing SOX stuff, heh heh. Ive done this before, and it was a blast, alot more SOX fans in Minny area than you would think. We ended up closing the place down one nite with a couple of SOX beat writers, that was fun just talking baseball with them I haven't met any in the dorms yet

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) Genuine critiques of my team are good baseball talk. Must everything be positive? There's a difference between good critiques and "so.. when will the Sox be eliminated?". A rather large difference.
-
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Thread re-opened! I'll say Sept. 30. Book it. woo! boo Sox! They won't be eliminated during the regular season, and if they are, I don't see the point in predicting the date. I have better things to take up my time rather than looking way too negatively about my favorite baseball team.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) Well, the kind you get depends on your motherboard. I use an old Mad Dog Predator 5.1 sound card because my computer is a few years old. A standard 6 channel Turtle Beach Riviera sound card will be plenty. It's $30 at Circuit City but you can find either on Amazon for under $25. This? Reviews don't look that promising, although it is a 4/5, meaning the votes that didn't include text were good.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^ x infinity I got these speakers for Christmas fo $80, and I'd pay $200 for them. They offer great sound for a great price, but make sure you upgrade your sound card to give you full speaker power. With a standard sound card, only the subwoofer and the front left/right speakers will work. This is the same for all 5.1 and up systems. Just something you need to consider. Any suggestions on a sound card? I'd prefer not to spend a ridiculous amount of money, but preferably within the price range I mentioned before (with the speakers added in).

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) f***ing figures. Lemme guess, we scored 3 runs in the first, he gave up 4. We scored 4 more in the 5th and he gave up 5 the next inning. WAT A PIECE O CHIT!!! Where's Charlie Haeger when you need him? something like that, yea.
