QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) But are ya ready for State? I really wish I could go to that game, but I have to go volunteer, and its something that I can't just skip. Oh well, one game where my season tickets will go to waste We'll see if the devil on my shoulder wins the moral battle. -

woo, 2-0 in Minnesota -
No thanks. Andruw Jones is incredibly overrated and not worth his contract, the contract he'll get when he's a FA, and the price that it would take to trade for him.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) Vazquez was a mental midget, breaking down in the 6th inning of EVERY game. This is incredibly false.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) Anybody got a problem dealing, oh, Garland and Uribe for Young and a couple of pitching prospects? How about Cintron and Garland? Then we'd have a rotation that looks like, Buehrle Contreras Vazquez Santana McCarthy Frees up money and looks good to me. If we can land Santana, I think we should deal another pitcher. I'd rather deal Contreras than Garland (although Garland would make more sense for the Rangers), but yes, I'd love to get Santana and then spin off another starter in a deal for an offensive upgrade.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) Financial restraints...? The payroll is rougly at $105 mill right now. Take out a starter, and it's at around $95 mill. Take out Uribe, and it's $90. If soxtalk estimations are correct, and the payroll will be about $115-120 mill, the Sox would still have $20-25 mill to mess around with after signing Gonzalez. I simply have trouble believing the payroll will be as high as $120 million. I think a payroll similar to that of last year (or somewhere like $110) is more realistic.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) I'd imagine the White Sox speculation is just that, speculation. Ozzie Guillen has come out and said that Alex Gonzalez is the best short stop in the game, dating back to his days in Florida. I'd imagine the author of that post on Rotoworld remembered Ozzie saying that and considered them as one of the potential suitors. Basically yea. I thought it was pretty obvious we'd go after Alex Gonzalez this offseason, although that suggested contract seems a bit too high considering the financial restraints the Sox should have.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) Don't like it at all, I think KW just sold low on Cotts. I agree completely. Can't say I'm too happy with this trade.

We won our season opener against NDSU last night, with myself in attendance. Picked up season tickets today, looking forward to this year -
QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 11, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) What about Rowand for Brian Anderson head up? I'm a large Rowand fan, but really, that would be a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE deal for the Sox.

Congrats to Dye and Crede

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) They would be better without the dumbass comments written all over the pictures. But the pictures are great. I agree completely. The pictures really make me want to get out of the dorms and into an apartment, preferably one where I can get a cat. This isn't anything new, was planning on doing it anyway this summer if possible (definitely getting the apartment at least, probably one where I can get a cat, although thats tougher to find), but this just enhances the feeling

QUOTE(easyw @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) Neither of these guys has what it takes to be a leadoff hitter in the big leagues. You should hit at least .300 with an OBP of .400. Why aim so low? They should ALWAYS get on base. That's right.. a 1.000 OBP. Anything less would be severely disappointing.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 06:37 AM) I don't like those uniforms one bit. Those look too much like Nationals uniforms, and both the phrase "D-backs" and the font they use are bad. Given the choice of those or last year's, I'd take last year's in a heartbeat. Took the words right out of my mouth. These are pretty bad.

I feel no sorrow for Liriano. He seems to be asking for trouble, whether it be quitting rehab or not telling people about feeling pain. Also, since the joke obviously hasn't been used enough in this thread, where's our Liriano?

QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 07:04 AM) Two Words: HELL YES! Any reason why? We'd be getting older, not dropping any payroll (in fact, adding $3 mil), and getting a player who is far from being a model citizen and whose personality clashes with Ozzie's. There's nothing that make sense here.
-
No, for the reasons already stated in this thread. You don't give up pitching for hitting, it's that simple.

I would gauge out my eyes first.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) That said, someone really ought to pick him up on a minor league deal, just because Hermanson always points at the sky after every save, and it's entirely possible Jesus and another offseason could hold his back together enough to make something of a difference, but that's a big if. Hasn't Shaun Alexander taught you anything?

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 30, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) And it all comes full circle, Felix, since Sugarcane Harris is the dude laying down the killer violin part on that little Zappa/Beefheart ditty. Oh wow, nice catch
