QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) Felix, what exactly is your problem? I don't think Tizzle is rooting against this team. This team has shown nothing for over 3 months now. Why expect anything from them? "I'm honestly hoping for elimination as quick as possible so we can watch Fields/Sweeney. " "Hey, you can contine sporting your superfan outfit and suggesting we "DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'" but I see no difference in how the season ends. Whether it's winning 8 of 10 or losing 10 straight. Hell, improve our draft position while we're at it. A good losing streak can help our position 4-5 spots!!!!" "I'll root for a Vazquez blowup if it means the remaining games are full of young prospects. " If thats not rooting against them, then I don't know what is.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) I suppose this is the post game thread. Same s***, different day with this team. Not too upset about it, though. Since I've conditioned myself to except losses from yesterday onwards, I can only laugh at games such as tonight where we yet again embarrass ourselves on the field. Of course you aren't.. you've said it yourself, you are rooting against this team.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Uribe continues his impeccable defensive season. With Ichiro running, you have to make sure you get the out at 2nd. Thats more Paulie's fault than Uribe's, but just my opinion.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Your first one was a year old. The second one is a list of fielding stats. Would you like me to show you a variety of other fielding stats which show Uribe as not particularly near the top? That doesn't matter. You said I wouldn't be able to find someone who agreed that Uribe was the best defensive SS in the league, I found someone.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) His defense this year has been nowhere near as good and crisp as it was in the past. Uribe has 4 home games left in his Sox career. I agree, but he's still a very good defensive shortstop.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) I defy you to find one human being who isn't a Sox fan who agrees that Juan Uribe is the best defensive SS in baseball. I don't think you'll find one. This is from 05, yes, but the point is there: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...sp&c_id=mlb QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Misplayed an infield pop-up and watched it hit the ground untouched. You sure you watching this game? It hit off of his glove right before he tried to avoid running into Crede..

Nice job by Vazquez to buckle down after the Uribe miscue.
-
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) And to think that some Sox fans say that Juan Uribe is the best defensive SS in baseball. Laughable. He is. One play does not determine whether a player is the best at anything, a whole career does.

Thats.. uh.. unique

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Can you teach me to be just like you?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Hey, you can contine sporting your superfan outfit and suggesting we "DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'" but I see no difference in how the season ends. Whether it's winning 8 of 10 or losing 10 straight. Where did I say that? I fully believe that we won't make the playoffs, but that doesn't stop me from rooting for my favorite team. Seriously, in my lifetime, the Sox have only had four 90+ win seasons. I'd love for this year to be the fifth. Yes, they've been disappointing. Yes, they've pissed me off at times this year. Yes, with the team that KW built in the offseason on paper, they should have made the playoffs, and even compete for the World Series. But s***, that didn't happen this year, and we're going to have to live with it. Both the Twins and Tigers have played amazing baseball and when this team wins 90 games, yet still misses the playoffs, you (not specifically you, the collective you) just have to tip your hat to the teams that had more. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Hell, improve our draft position while we're at it. A good losing streak can help our position 4-5 spots!!!! Sure, root against your favorite team then if that is your goal. But hell, it doesn't matter, right? The Sox are horrible at drafting people and every pitcher is a soft-throwing b**** and every outfielder is just a bust.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) He'll continue with these lineups as not to upset his pitchers, or give anyone the impression we've given up. It's f***ing annoying to watch. I'm honestly hoping for elimination as quick as possible so we can watch Fields/Sweeney. I'd especially like to see them against Minnesota's pitchers, ideally Santana. Yes, lets root AGAINST our team!! Genius idea. Nice opening K for Vazquez. Regardless of his overall numbers, he's been much improved since Coop changed his delivery around a bit (which could be accredited to something else, just pointing it out)

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) If Williams leaves this rotation as it currently stands, he'll have learned NOTHING from his Northside counterpart. Whereas injuries are a key difference between the rotations (for Cubs, Prior/Wood; us, consistently healthy), the basic idea of hoping that our current staters somehow rebound is, quite frankly, lazy general managing. You get rid of an existing starter for McCarthy. This talk of trading him for a leadoff hitter is honestly absurd. Young pitching with McCarthy's potential -- which has actually been proven, opposed to other prospects -- exceeds that of a leadoff hitter. My idea of McCarthy's value is high because I've always been impartial to pitchers over positional players. A lineup has 9 players. 9 players can absorb difficiencies of others. Considering Podsednik's mediocre production, and the likelihood our offense overall will produce similar numbers, it shouldn't be difficult to replace him. Even easier if Guillen is transfixed on a speedy slap hitter with low OBP. What are you talking about? McCarthy is another sucky White Sox pitching prospect who doesn't throw 100 MPH.
-
I'm thinking that a few of them will rebound, including Vazquez, but we really need to trade one of them and get BMac into the rotation. Whether it's Freddy (who I've always liked), Vazquez, or even Contreras (who could probably net us a nice return), a deal has to be made. They are making too much money, and the Sox will have to cut payroll somewhere, and with BMac's prescene, starting pitching is the obvious place to do it.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) We pushed our starting pitchers too hard at the beginning of the year, instead of letting them ease into the season. Part of the reason why we acquired Vazquez, or at least we were told, was to let McCarthy fill-in for some of our starters if they experienced this fatigue. How many times this year did Ozzie leave a starter out for the 7th or 8th inning, especially when we were losing, when he could have gone to the bullpen and maybe saved 20 pitches on our starter's arm? Thats true, but at the start of the year, Ozzie didn't have much of a choice since, as we all know, the bullpen was pretty bad then.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) Teams will look at his 2 years left and will figure they have a great #2 pitcher for 2 years at a pretty good market price. He has 3 years left. The contract he signed in the offseason starts after 2006 is over. And yea, I think trading Count would be an excellent choice given his age and inconsistency. He should still have a ton of value on the market too, which means the Sox could possibly fill multiple holes by dealing him.
-
Amazing play by Uribe just to make it close at first.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) There is a big difference between Fields and Sweeney right now in regards to how the ball jumps off their bat. How long until people start saying Sweeney is the next White Sox outfield prospect bust?

QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) Oh, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to comment on the fact that PK isn't fast enough to make it home from second base when there is a base hit. Sorry. Thats not what I was saying. I was asking what the point of saying that was? It's almost as if you are looking for reasons to be negative.
-
QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) It'll still take 2 hits to get PK in. Not to be pessimistic. What's the point in saying this? Something good just happened for the Sox, be happy about it..

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) Game thread could not be more dead if it were 1988. I just got here, and yea, its dead Thats one way to get on

Freddy with another 1 hitter? Impressive, I'm sort of sad I missed it.
-
Oh wow.. these are spectacular. After a few idiotic moments of worrying about a rattling sound coming from the subwoofer (there was a piece of tape over the air hole that I completely forgot about), I've set them up and they are working perfectly. Thanks again for the help guys, its appreciated

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) I was thinking the Sox could possibly be interested in Mark Mulder on an incentive laden deal for 2007. '[Cardinals starter Mark] Mulder wouldn't even make my team,'' Guillen said. ''He couldn't start for us, and he's not better than [Neal] Cotts or [Matt] Thornton in our bullpen."
