  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) JGINAA. Again, what's your point?
  2. QUOTE(mu mu @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) It's not obvious to those of us at work and not watching the game. Usually when a player starts a game, he doesn't get pulled out. The White Sox are up by 10 runs.
  3. QUOTE(mu mu @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) I'd like to know, too, why'd they pull him out? It's 10-0..
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) MLB. I cant think of a more obvious juicer in the MLB today other than Bons than I-roid. Jason Giambi. Gary Sheffield. There's 2.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) Btw, Brian is now at .228 according to Yahoo. That is a season high for him. MLB.tv's Mosaic has him at .229
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) JGINAA What's your point?
  7. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) heh heh heh. The special of the day today is Crow, with a mango dressing .... uh, this team is done. They've been done since the ASB. They didn't go 18-3 during this stretch right now, the season is over. Wait.. whoops.
  8. Juan The Sox are looking sharp as hell today (DJ beat me to it, but its still true)
  9. QUOTE(Contreras @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Broadway's first AAA start: 6 IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 6K, 10 Groundouts, 2 Flyouts Good start. Great to see him have success in his first start
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) I don't think anyone thought it was going out. Yea, but its not like Hawk to not say "stretch" on a ball that is in the air in the outfield
  11. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) dye is quickly closing on big papi for AL MVP Really? Last I checked, Dye is still in Chicago, while Ortiz is in Boston. I'm pretty sure Ortiz has it locked up, even though he doesn't deserve it more than some.
  12. That was a weak homerun call Hawk Nice seeing JD staying hot
  13. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) whats with the ozuna love on this board. The guy is hitting 6/45 or .133 since the All Star Break. Podsednik is hitting 26/118 or .220. Ozuna sucks. Pods sucks less.
  14. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Just proves that any kind of winning would've had us in 1st Place by now ......... This team obviously sucks. They are simply a bad team.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Pablo is a righty. You can't platoon Anderson with a righty. And Anderson must never face righties. EVER. Jesus would strike down the White Sox if Anderson faced a righty. You think that would stop Ozzie from using Pablo when giving Anderson a rest? We already know that Pablo was working out in CF earlier in the year, if Mack wasn't around, the backup CF job would be Pablo's.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) If I could undo that trade right now, I would. And I guarantee you we'd win more games. Not because I don't like Mack or because I want Marte back...but 100% solely because it would make it impossible for Mackowiak to start in CF. So instead of Mack in CF, we'd see Pablo there more. Seriously.
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) I would 'screw with Thornton' every day if it meant having a consistent 93-95 mph arm pitching out of our rotation. Honestly, could working on secondary pitches really be expected to mess with him? He could work on it during the offseason, spring training. If it doesn't work, no harm, go back to pitching relief. But atleast give it a try. I don't believe some of you realize how truly pathetic our minor league system is relating to starting pitchers. Not just Ol' Crazy Flash going on a senseless rant about our lack of a Liriano, here. We're literally waist deep in CRAP starting pitchers. It's an endless parade of mediocrity. If scrub minor league pitchers were a currency.......yeah, you get the idea. I could go on all day with these methaphors. Chisox knows the truth. Heads as well. Dbaho knows it, but can't admit it. (Where's our Tyler Lumsden?) Who's projectable, honestly? Broadway........and then, who?. We don't have a Garza. We'll probably never have one with the current draft philosophy. I doubt --even with a 100million dollar payroll -- we're dishing out big money for top-of-the-rotation starters. You have a pitcher of Thornton's ability, and he's willing to start again, you HAVE to take the opportunity. I'm just wondering, but why do you care so much about MPH? No matter how hard you throw, a fastball down the middle is still a fastball down the middle. If you don't have any other plus pitches, then you aren't going to be a starter. However, you can be an effective setup man since opposing teams don't have to see you for 6 innings a night. Thornton will never be an effective starter for numerous reasons, including his control issues (which are still there, just lessened from his days in Seattle) and lack of more than one above average pitch. Personally (and I know you strongly disagree), I'll take a pitcher who knows how to throw a strike with a variety of plus pitches, but 'only' throws 90 on his fastball, over a pitcher who throws 98 but has nothing else.
  18. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Duh...Read my post. I was referring to Anderson. You completely missed my point. You think that Anderson won't be a good 2 hitter because he strikes out too much, yet as you say, Iguchi is a good 2 hitter. Fact is, Iguchi strikes out a lot too. I don't see how you are seeing a difference between the two. (Tony basically covered all of this in his posts too though )
  19. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Anderson will never EVER be a 2-hole hitter. He has always struck out too much and his swing is just too long to ever consistently change that. Anderson, at best, is a #6 hitter and that is in a perfect world. More likely he'll spend most of his career around 7 or 8... Gooch never strikes out.
  20. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) I've seen Sweeney and I doubt he will ever sniff 30 homers in a year, however, he has the makeup to be a terrific, terrific major league talent. He has a great GREAT arm, clearly good enough to play RF or CF...having him in LF would make him even more dangerous. His defense is about major league ready now. He isn't as smooth as a defensive OF as Brian, but he's next in line. I see Sweeney as a hitter who will NEVER be below .270, .280...He has .300+ written all over him. He has one of the smoothest easiest swings I've seen. His technique, his balance, and his movement (not wasted) are almost computerized they are so good. Let me tell you, this kid IS THE GOODS. I tried hard to watch him in games I've seen to figure out why he isn't hitting homers. The kid is a big kid and has good bat speed, but the balls just don't leave the yard for him, but he does pepper the alleys and lines. Maybe the top hand on his bat is too dominant on the swing and he is creating too much top spin and not getting enough lift, I don't know...but THIS KID CAN HIT A BASEBALL... He will hit .300> for 10 years in the majors, compete for the league lead in doubles, triples, TBs, OPS, and will likely develop into a 15-25 homer guy. He looks like the future #3 hitter for the Sox. He has 3 triples this year, 3 triples last year, and 3 triples in 2004. Explain? I'd also like to say that you are insane if you think that he'll compete for the league lead in OPS when he's yet to show power (although yes it will likely come) and has never posted a OBP high enough to offset the lack of slugging percentage.
  21. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) I'll probably regret this, but... I disagree. I think its an excellent idea. He'd be better defensively, have similar speed, way better offensively... I see no downside. Enlighten me. Milkman isn't being serious, he's proposed this idea numerous times in various different threads.
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) Rowand would be an awesome LF.....but I seriously doubt he gets traded back. I doubt he'd be traded back too, I'm just wondering if the Phillies will pick up his option or not. If they don't, KW could look to sign him. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) Well, I'll get s*** for this, but I don't want him getting hurt for 2 1/2 months of the year trying to make a single play if he comes back to this team. We all love the intensity, yes. But catching a fly ball in the 5th inning just isn't worth sitting out a big percentage of the season. It's not like he knows he's going to lose 2.5 months while trying to make the play.
