Anyone going to Camden Yards for July Series?

QUOTE(noneckwilliamsatthedoor @ May 16, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) If so, where are you staying? Hotel rooms in Inner Harbor are booked due to a convention. Yea, I know I'm going to the first two games of the series with my dad, but I don't know what hotel he booked. IIRC, it wasn't cheap. -
QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 16, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) Call me crazy but I think we might trade either Pods or Uribe. Uribe has been amazing at short stop but his bat needs to pick up. I think that either Cintron might be a temp while we trade both pods and Uribe to try to get someone. I think Ozuna is ready to play play especially in left field. If you think about it Pods is starting to get things together but for awhile he was struggling. We need him to get on base and use his speed thats where he is most deadly. I think Ozuna has that speed as well. Uribe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cintron Even when he's not hitting.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) I am focused on only one thing: winning the division. That is my expectation. Anything less would be considered a failure, especially for an improved-on-paper team. Now my HOPE is for a WS, but there are so many "what ifs" attached to that it's impossible to "expect." We could well be the best team in baseball but once the playoffs start, anything goes. We certainly were one of the best last year, but you have to admit: we got some breaks. The fatal dropped ball in CF in the Royals/Cleveland game. The AJ strikeout. The booted grounder by Boston in game 2 of the playoffs. Dye getting called as HBP. All the breaks went our way. That's something that just happens, no matter how good or bad your team is. If you're a good team you're able to CAPITALIZE on them, which is what we did. So yeah I hope for the WS but expect a division. Thinking about the WS this early just makes my head hurt. Exactly my thoughts

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Maybe you should just stick to your "insight" on college basketball...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Awww how sweet. He's a FA after '08 as usual Gage is handing out false information. Its hard to forget all of the threads this offseason about how he was a FA after next year, and you continuously saying through '08

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) Ya, IIRC we have his rights for one more season. I think we have him through 2008 actually, but I could be wrong. Kalapse would know for sure.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) You almost make me want to like the Cubs in spite. This is actually one of the reasons I don't hate the Cubs, and do root for them in the NL (another reason is that they are a Chicago team afterall, and I'd rather see Chicago do better than any other city out there). There are just some Sox fans who seem to care more about hating the Cubs than liking the Sox. I find it sad

Aaron Rowand is just about good as Torii Hunter, and if the Sox were willing to get rid of him (who was loved by the fans and organization) to start Brian Anderson, I'm pretty confident Anderson will get a much longer chance to prove himself than less than a full year.

Always great to beat the Twins

Pods hit a HR today? Wtf?

QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 15, 2006 -> 05:30 AM) Batting Average is factored into OPS as part of OBP and TB in SLG, so if you don't look at Batting Average, the players are not that much different at the plate. Anderson has twice as many BBs than Rowand in 40 fewer ABs. That difference in OPS is mainly due to the Batting Average disparity and Rowand's two triples. So basically, the players aren't that much different at the plate other than the fact that Rowand is getting on much more and slugging much more. Its not like its a close difference here, their OPS's are .200 points apart. Thats like saying a player with a .200 OBP is doing similar to one with a .400 OBP. Sure, their other stats might be similar, but that doesn't mean the players are in the same ballpark in terms of how well they are playing. And for what its worth, last I checked (which was yesterday before my previous post), Rowand had a VORP of 10.7, while Anderson had one of -2.7. Thats a small difference.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:28 AM) He is not a mediocre starter. We can argue whether last year was a fluke, but he was one of the best pitchers in baseball last year. You don't do that without having talent. Until he proves that he can do what he did last year on a consistant basis, he's an average starter, just like he was before 2005. You can have the talent, but that doesn't mean anything if it doesn't produce results.

Ugly, but I'll take it

QUOTE(That funky motion @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Jinx!!! That was full to the brim with sarcasm, but I guess only a few people will get it

QUOTE(fathom @ May 14, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) I honestly think that Politte stole Vizcaino's arm this season. Except Viz is good..

This game is insane.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 14, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) We're all Sox fans here (besides jabroni). You forgot qwerty too.. damn Indians fan.
