QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Put me on ignore because it is gonna be a while until you see me compliment them. So no need wasting your time. They need to get their heads out of their collective asses first. How dare someone support their favorite team while they struggle?! -

I'd rather see Bmac than Cotts, and I bet that if bmac lets up anything, people will blame Ozzie for leaving him in. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) I guess that's a matter of opinion. Unless, of course you are suggesting that it already ended/it's already over. It isnt the end and it wont be until the Sox win the World Series this year. (IM BEING OPTIMISTIC) -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) I can't believe nobody has thought of this appropriate classic Because this isnt the end... -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Yet at the same time he gets quite possibly the worst jumps in baseball, so in essence he's not getting to any balls that noone else does because he's getting later jumps. He constantly miss plays balls and has 0 arm. Pods is nowhere near average, he's a DH. You dont put someone with his range at DH.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) You are great at scouting talent. You are great at supporting your favorite team. Can you teach me?
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) According to stats last year, Carlos Lee should of been a gold glove. Not really. There were 4 people ahead of him in both RF and ZR. Fielding percentage is the worse way to determine how good at defense someone is.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Defensive stats don't mean a whole hell of a lot. Pods is well below average, most everyone that watches him play knows that. I watch him, and I dont think he's below average. He's pretty average in my book, just because of his speed and ability to get to balls which alot of people don't get to.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) Lee vs Pods defensively is a moot point. They both are below average. According to the stats this year, Pods is the 2/3rd best defensive LF in the league.

Songs that describe the current state of the Sox

Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin' Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'. Come writers and critics Who prophesize with your pen And keep your eyes wide The chance won't come again And don't speak too soon For the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who That it's namin'. For the loser now Will be later to win For the times they are a-changin'. Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled There's a battle outside And it is ragin'. It'll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin'. Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin'. Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin'. The line it is drawn The curse it is cast The slow one now Will later be fast As the present now Will later be past The order is Rapidly fadin'. And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changin'. -
The Sox wanted to add speed, a leadoff hitter, pitching, defense, catching, a solid 2b, and a replacement for Maggs. With Pods, Viz, Hermanson, AJ, Dye, and Iguchi, they filled those needs. Lee is an asshole in the clubhouse apparently with below average defense, and is definetly not what the Sox wanted.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) This is an incorrect statement, Lee is a very good baseball player. For the type of team the Sox wanted, Lee sucked.
-
We did. You know why? We traded Lee for Pods, Vizcaino, AJ, Dye, Hermanson, and Iguchi. And Lee sucks anyway.
-
For the first time in a long time, I turned the game off and am going to sleep before 11. I dont need to feel tired as hell because I went to sleep at ~12 watching the Sox get killed. Good night.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) When you're not playing great as a team, you need to put the team in the best chance to succeed. Thats true, but again, its not Ozzie's fault that the bullpen blows a lead. Sure, you can blame him for putting in Marte who let up 2 runs so the opposing team is only down by 1, but its still up to the players to execute.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) We need to play better baseball for me to be positive. Right now, the way we are playing, i think it is o.k. if i am negative along with any other fan if they want to. Just because we are 31 games over .500 ( after tonight) doesn't mean everything is perfectly fine... because it is rather the opposite. If you dislike my posts so much there is always the option to put my posts on ignore. I'm not saying everything is perfectly fine. I'm saying that when something good happens, you dont post, and when something bad happens, you are the first to post.
