QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) I would honestly think if the Brewers were going to try and compete the Sox and Brewcrew could work a blockbuster deal involving Jenks. Brewers have a lot of nice chips and you could even expand to go after Prince Fielder (although Fielder's value is > Jenks in my book). If the Sox could move Thome or even PK, Fielder would be perfect move. Jenks and Javy would be a start, though I'm sure they would want Poreda.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) Boras Client. End of discussion. I almost posted this thread early this morning. Then I saw that Boras was his agent and seeking 4 years. Obviously I didn't post it.

Apparently Jenks' value is already dropping: Link Down in the Around the Horn section.

Restaurant my ass. ChiSox

Rosenthal Who is he going to get from them that's better than the Atlanta deal? I don't know the minors very well, but this seems odd.

I've seen part of this posted earlier in the thread but this is from Rosenthal: More at Link

Conference call w/ KW is on Sox website.

KW says that Marquez will have a shot at the rotation next season.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) I think Jason quoted the wrong post (and was meant to quote fathom's). Yeah, I assume so.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) Bulls***....OC filled a major hole (albeit he didn't fit in as planned) and is going to get the Sox additional compensation. uh...so how is that different from what I said?
-
BTW, Scott Boras must be pissed right now. This basically takes the Yankees out of the running for Texeira. And by not spending that money, they will make a huge offer to CC. That's really why this deal got done. I really doubt the Yankees think all that much of Swish, but for the price, how could they not do it.

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Awesome... the Sox just traded away half their farm for an over-hyped more expensive journeyman Willie Harris. KW sees Marquez as the key to the deal.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) And for those that didn't know, free agent signings start at midnight ET. I doubt anything will happen tonight, but this weekend Torres wants Viciedo to be under contract.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) I need two quick answers. Are any of these guys good? Is this a good trade? Jesse Rogers says it was a good trade.
-
According to the KW teleconference, the Score says Fields has the upper hand on 3rd with Betemit taking over for Uribe. Uribe basically gone.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) Fans. The guy was a complete bust and wasn't even booed. That's not true at all.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) Maybe not technically, but I get where he's coming from. KW wanted to sign OC right after he traded for him. Once he got to know him, he couldn't wait until he left. Supposedly OC had a lot of disagreements in the clubhouse. Yeah, but the Angels had a similar problem with Garland. In the end, both teams made the playoffs and neither guy had a major impact. Not that it matters anymore. Relevant here, the Swisher trade was bad unless these guys are better than we think.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) The big two trades last offseason = massive busts Garland for OC was not a massive bust.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) OK so, what is the deal? Marquez, Betemit and Melky for Swish and Teixera? I was kind of high on Teixera. Where has Melky been mentioned? So far it's Marquez, Betemit and some other minor league pitcher.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) cant listen live to the score through their website anymore? The link is in the top right corner now.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) You can bet every team in baseball inquired. The cubs run their organization via the media to keep their name and their "buzz" out there. They float the names of guys that they are willing to give up in hopes other teams may be interested. Now their fans can say that they took a run at this guy. Bruce Levine looks like dope for fueling this stuff though sometimes. I think a lot of the hype came from the Padres actually.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 11:19 AM) I maybe alone, but I worry about Peavy's elbow. That is a lot to give for Atlanta if they throw JoJo in there. But hey, anything to disappoint Cub fans is fine with me. There's something that kept a lot of teams away. The offers seem to be Atlanta and the garbage the Cubs offered, which baseball people didn't believe was viable. There wasn't anything in between? Seems odd.
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) The Pads pulled their 4 million dollar offer to Hoffman today. I don't know if its going around all of baseball, or the NL West is having huge financial problems, but it looks like the Dimondbacks, Rockies, and Padres are all having serious money issues. The Padres might be preparing to sell according to Rosenthal.
-
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 12:13 AM) Do the Scrubs even have the bullets it would take to really land Peavy?? I don't see how. B&B were talking about this last week. Their feeling was that all the Cubs stuff was just the Padres trying to get Atlanta to up their deal. If this is all it takes to get Peavy, I'd imagine he would have been traded by now.
