  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) Well....if the Twins can take 2 out of 4 on the road at TB, and come back from down 3, they deserve the playoffs more than we do. Nobody in this division "deserves" to win this division, but by rule someone has to play in the playoffs. If the Twins manage not to lose 9 more games, there is a change they will make the playoffs. Longoria with 3 homers.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) Seriously,if we make the playoffs,we aren t getting past the Rays or Red Sox,I like our chances vs the Angels believe it or not... I think there is a better chance of the Rays wetting the bed because they are young than beating the Angels. But I don't think the Sox are beating the Rays either.
  3. Longoria, by the way, is really good. He's made some nice plays at 3rd.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) The lineup for Tampa tonight against the Twins is awful. Their outfield of Zobrist, Gross, and Perez is as bad as I've seen in the majors this season. Hopefully Shields can shut them down. The Twins can beat themselves just fine. Although it would be nice to see the real lineup out there from the Rays. It would figure about right though that the Twins win 3/4 at Tampa. That would be consistent with the oddness of the season.
  5. Cubs were down 6-2 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out and have come all the way back. The Brewers suck.
  6. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 01:48 AM) Royals are on a 6 game winning streak, they've won 7 of their last 10 games :/ The Royals have been playing the Indians and the Mariners.
  7. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) The Sox have hit Rivera on occasion. Something tells me this won't be a 1 run game going into the 9th though. yahoo...
  8. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) IIRC pauly once hit a game tying solo shot off of mariano to right center to lead off an inning a couple years ago... The Sox have hit Rivera on occasion. Something tells me this won't be a 1 run game going into the 9th though.
  9. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) How about the pitcher with the 9 ERA that started tonight. Which one?
  10. I don't know if I've ever seen a game where a pitcher throws as many pitches as Hughes did, that early, and only give up 1 run.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) It wasn't that wild of a pitch, seemed like AJ should have been able to catch that. On the replay I might have to agree. The ball almost hit his glove.
  12. Can everyone now shut up about bringing in the pen? THEY ALL SUCK.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 03:26 AM) Why is Jermaine Dye not an MVP candidate? Obviously he is, but he's been nearly as valuable as Quentin has. He's just so damn quiet that he doesn't even seem to garner the consideration for the award. I'm really interested to see who it's awarded to, so that's something I'll be looking forward to. Luckily Quentin is so charismatic, otherwise no one would have noticed his season.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) Can we all collectively get rid of the rule that we can't wish injury upon anyone for the benefit of the team? Jerry Owens' injuries have proven benefits for this team.
  15. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) Now Owens can get thrown out stealing. I posted that before it happened.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) Ha, you're arguing with Lindsay Lohan. You should be ashamed of yourself for giving her opinion a second thought. I should be, but I think I have a shot at winning that argument!
  17. For all the people complaining about Guillen's management of the pen, look at the Twins and tell me how Gardenhire is doing with a crap-tastic pen. A lot of people here think think the world of Gardy and hate Guillen but the fact is that when your pen sucks, there isn't much you can do.
  18. So Palin can't pose for magazine covers? Because the Obamas haven't been on any right?
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) I'm so on board with that it's ridiculous. I have been a proponent of acquiring Baldelli for some time, and though that disorder really hurt him for awhile, he's come back strong and seems to have put that in the rearview mirror, hitting .281 with a .349 OBP. He'd be an excellent 4th OF to get about 400 at bats and backup all OF positions (and if he really impresses possibly supplant Swish). I'm no doctor but I don't think that disorder can ever be in the rearview mirror. He will suffer fatigue and slow recovery for the rest of his career. I don't know if there are drugs, other than steroids, that could help with that.
