QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) Overall your obviously right, but in terms of basic, everyday in game decisions and deciding who plays in games, your not. Ozzie's managing moves, many of which people on this board could see were stupid, kept us out of the postseason last year. Oh I agree Ozzie made some incredibly stupid decisions last year, particularly playing Mack in CF even after Anderson got better at the plate. And yeah, 90% of us saw that a mile away. But what kept us out of the playoffs last year, primarily, were a let-down by the starting staff and a precipitous dropoff of our prolific offense in the 2nd half.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) Probably not, that was an exaggeration. But among regular posters, more than half could. You seem to overestimate Ozzie's impact on 2005. We got to the playoffs, won in the playoffs, and were Champs due to all time great pitching and hundreds of home runs, and basically every big hit that October was a home run (except a double off the wall by PK to put game 5 away in Anaheim, and JD's game winning hit in game 4 in Houston). I won't get into the discussion of how much Ozzie had to do with 2005, because I don't think it was huge either. But your statement is still laughable. No way people here could do what he did that year or even last year with the same talent. Maybe there are a few people here who could, with a bunch of years of coaching and/or playing at pro levels, get close. Maybe - there is no telling for sure. But to say half of them could, now, outmanage anyone at the ML level, is a joke.

Dye's error makes it 12-2 Angels, still only 1 out in the 6th. What is with this team? They did this last year too, but earlier in ST, then started to get it together at the end I think. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) Actually, I could manage this team better than Ozzie, as could 90 percent of this board. Just because I'm not making baseball coaching my career doesn't mean i'm stupid, just like just because somebody played doesn't mean they can manage (ie our manager). Ahh I try, and it usually works. That's hilarious. I dislike lots of what Ozzie does, but you need to have some perspective on reality here. You think 90% of the people here could manage the team better than the guy with the World Series ring???

MMac comes in, gives up a 2-run single to Kendrick, Angels now up 8-2. Sisco's line will close with 4 runs given up in 0.1 innings. wind-aided double scores Kendrick, now 9-2 Angels. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) Ahhh the Ozzie supporters out in full force. When will they realize that he has no clue what he's doing in terms of on field decisions? Ahhh the serial complainers out in full force. When will they realize if they knew better than the people on the field, they'd be doing it for a living?

Now 6-2 Angels, 2 in so far on Sisco (although on some weak sauce, not a lot of hard-hit balls). -

Logan K's the side. ERA still zero. He'd better be in the pen instead of Sisco. -

Angels score again on a single, up 4-2 now, no outs in the third. Man on 2nd, because Erstad missed the cut-off man on the throw. End of 3rd, Angels up 4-2. -

Sox scored a run in the 2nd on a Mack double, then a "base hit" by Cintron that was a lost fly ball to shallow left. Angels score 2 in their 2nd, on a SAC fly and a base hit. Now 3-1 Angels. -

Shea Hillenbrand stole third while Floyd was standing on the mound. He was almost to third before Floyd started his delivery - never looked at him, and no one holding him on. After 1 inning, 1-0 Angels. -
It sure would be nice to win one, even though its ST. Game is on CSN for TV. Lineups Ozuna, LF Erstad, CF Konerko, 1B Dye, RF Crede, 3B Mackowiak, DH Iguchi, 2B Cintron, SS Gonzalez, W, C Willits, CF Izturis, 3B Hillenbrand, DH Kotchman, 1B Kendrick, 2B Napoli, C Quinlan, RF Gorneault, LF Aybar, E, SS

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) 4 years 16 mil per to steal from the Cubs. Buehrle can walk to St Louis. I somehow don't think he's going for 4/64. Seems like 5+ is more likely for him, and maybe more than 16 per. -
Or, you could hack Kalapse's computer and get the feed from there.

QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) So he can accurately criticize things that have already happened better than the rest of us? heh In that case, I'm pretty sure everyone who posts on this site thinks they have 20/10 hindsight. -
Ditto on Trip Advisor, that's a great site. If you want something a little more exotic, St. Lucia is awesome. Longer trip than Cancun, though. There are three Sandals resorts on St. Lucia, which are fairly nice (but the food isn't anything great), great beaches and pools, all the important stuff. But to get a more local experience, try a place like Anse Chastinet (sp?), or the Jaloise Hilton. Also, if you go to a Caribbean island, try to get out of the resort when you can. Take a tour or two, its worth it.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) It depends on what your definion of most is. It looks to be about 25-30% of the total $20-25 billion of earmarks. Personally I don't understand if this stuff is as important as they say it is, why the Dems can't just live up to their campaign promises to stop earmarks, and pass these as separate bills on their own merits. http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/27/pet...=rss_topstories $4.2 billion in disaster aid for farmers hurt by drought, floods and other disasters in recent years. $6.7 billion in additional federal efforts to help victims of Hurricane Katrina, including housing aid, public infrastructure funding and aid to Gulf Coast fishermen. $3.1 billion to implement a 2005 round of military base closures, which helps local communities affected by military base closings paves the way for redeployment of 12,000 troops stationed in Germany and South Korea to domestic bases. $2 billion for national security efforts such as port security, explosives detection for airline baggage and rail and mass transit security grants. $1.2 billion over the next five years for renewal of an income subsidy program for small-operation dairy farmers $747 million to ease a shortfall in the State Children's Health Insurance Program, which provides health care to children from low-income families. $640 million in heating subsidies for the poor and elderly. $500 million to combat Western wildfires. $100 million for state and local law enforcement agencies in Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul to provide security for next year's presidential nominating conventions. $24 million to cover crop losses from flooding two years ago, for sugar beet growers in the Red River Valley stand to get $20 million obtained by Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, to combat Mormon crickets. $3.5 million for guided tours of the U.S. Capitol $3 million aimed at a sugar cane cooperative in Hawaii 1. If these are important, then they should have been passed in a bill (or bills) for funding agriculture and/or disaster relief. If they can stand on their own merit, then why the earmark? 2. Of the last 9 items (everything from the $1.2B for dairy farmers on down), I see about 4 that are even worth spending money on. The rest is garbage.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) Exactly, buy it, sit on it and wait it out. What happened to the Detroit renaissance I kept hearing about few years ago? BTW, how's you NM situation going? We bought 25 acres, wooded, in the mountains in NM. Totally awesome. 2 hour drive from ABQ airport, moderate climate (7000' but sun 310 days a year), big pine trees for shade, great view of the continental divide ridgeline, even a seasonal creek through the property. Can't wait to go explore it more. If you need any more info or help for your situation, PM me.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) Out of all of those options I'm going to have to choose 0, but I don't like choosing zero. I'm choosing zero because I think it's somewhere between 25% and 0%, and given that number and the 3 available choices I'm forced to round down. Thank you, Mr. Science!!! -
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) But you could do the same thing for Jermaine Dye or Frank Thomas over similar lead-up periods to their 2006 seasons and nothing would predict what they accomplished, particularly Thomas. Erstad is still relatively young...I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and side with OG and KW on this one. Everything about Frank Thomas said that he would accomplish exactly what he did, if he was healthy. That was the only question.

Does anyone know if stress effects cancer stability? I ask because being the President's Press Secretary, for ANY President, has got to be one of the most stressful jobs there one can have. Add to that the increasing exposure levels as each new Administration comes in, and the job only gets worse. I certainly hope Tony is able to recover, and I hope he gets away from the job for a while.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 12:26 PM) So, I'm just curious...am I the only person left in the world who actually thinks its important for some side to come forwards with some evidence about the actual position where this incident happened? The Brits haven't done so yet, and neither have the Iranians, but both have made claims on the position of the incident, and their position relative to the coastlines (on what is in fact a disputed border) is certainly a key to learning who is the one being the aggressor here. The Brits hinted that they know exactly where they were and that they were not in Iranian waters. But even if they released that, Iran will probably have a different idea of "their" waters anyway, so the evidence is probably not meaningful in the dialogue stage. Now, if it gets uglier, and the UK decides to act militarily, and needs support from other countries... then the GPS data matters.
