Atlantic City looks to bus more homeless back home
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110501/ap_on_...c_city_homeless Speaking of people coming to Atlantic City with money, a job back home and then losing it all and becoming suddenly homeless... On my visits to Atlantic City, I've had people (‘bums’) tell me they had a family, a job and came to A.C. with money and got drunk and/or addicted to gambling and lost it all. Yes, I'm sure these people were struggling to begin with. The point that I'm trying to make is that it's easier then one would think to become homeless, especially with high rates of foreclosures & health care costs/lack of health care.

Any Rosetta Stone users here?
I used it for Mandarin, it was very helpful. But like someone mentioned earlier halfway into level 2 it gets difficult. From there on out I find myself needing to repeat each lesson more than 2 times. In order to have real success with Rosetta Stone I think you need another kind of exposure to the language. For me, having Chinese friends helps. And especially, going to Flushing all the time and literally being surrounded by the entire culture really helps too.

What's a worse scenario?
Dump salary....build up minors But if you ask this same question and if the Sox were .500 right now, the votes would be very different.

Dunn
Seriously, can he bat 8th? At least then he might be pitched around. He had the most walks in his career in '09 when he batted behind Zimmerman and in front of Nick Johnson/Dukes/Kearnes

White Sox vs. Yankees 4/28 Thread
The way the Sox lineup is hitting, that was probably our last chance to score a run until at least the 7th inning.

How come smart people always argue politics and never agree?
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 08:22 AM) Education makes you more likely to stick to your views more often than not. I think that is true in the majority of cases. But what if you have a kid raised by conservatives and goes to one of the most liberal and diverse schools (the most diverse in the SUNY system) in a blue state. Basically the textbooks have been written by liberals, taking a one-sided approach, a few I can name of off the top of my head: A text book called "Labor's Untold Story", written by a union (United Machine, Radio & Electrical Workers, I believe associated with the IWW) "American Democracy in Peril", liberal author "The Politics of Power: A Critical Introduction to American Government", liberal author Call me naive.... but my views on have changed completely, at least fiscally I've moved to the left

I would guess because that’s how they were taught to question everything. Myself, I’m a social conservative and an economical liberal (I’m a staunch labor supporter and a creationist) The good thing is I always half agree with the right and left... could listen to Mark Levin /Hannity and Matthews, but be pissed at them half the time. For example, before I transferred to my current school I was not pro-union, now after learning the history of labor (albeit from a union man) I am support of unions and all government programs. The more educated I get, the more my views change. But it certainly has do with the environment where you are educated.
