QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Just hit the f***ing ball, throw the ball well, and catch the ball. And play like the season is on the line. Run out ground outs, and break up double plays. I could care less about the Boston offense, with a medicore 6+ era pitcher on the mound who was gifted with the southpaw hand, its more of if we hear this tonight from the Hawkeroo. Hawk "Well Young Mr Gabbard is pitching his tail off tonight. I dont care what his ERA says, this kid has some talent. I was talking to some scouts before the game, and they didnt clue me into how sharp this kid is. " DJ "Well when facing a lefty like this, you want to hit the ball up the middle or the other way. Which is harder than it looks, as they want to tease you with breaking stuff away to entice you to hit it on the ground and get the out. Gabbard has induced 3 double plays this evening, and has been lucky to get out of a few jams. But when you have a good defense behind you, you can risk lettting a good hitting team put it on the ground. Paulie needs to come through here, as the whitesox offense is in a bit of a funk right now. Minnesota won today on a 35-0 score as Santana strikes out a career high 18 Devil Rays at home." Hawk "Well the Sox are threatening here, oh for the long one here. Konerko has to cinch it up, and hunker down here. Paulie fouls off the 1-2 pitch. Wow he just missed a cookie right there. Bow your neck Paulie, and here is the pitch, Dagdabit, and the kid will get out of walking the bases loaded as it goes 6-4-3 and you can rack em up. The whitesox have blown a golden opportunity here to score in here in the 6th inning. And its 2-0 badguys. "

It always makes me nervous, despite Vaz on the bump tonight, when the Sox face no-name pitchers with crappy numbers. They ALWAYS find a way to make them look REAL good. Here is to hoping tonight is different though, and that we stifle the return of Papi with a nice victory. Need to bounce back, lets start tonight...

Are you serious?? Give me one example of how B-Mac has been put in a position to succeed...just one.... Other than being a career-long starter and thrust into the bullpen (a COMPLETELY different animal all together). He has not adjusted very well and who knows if he will. Bottom line in this, in the starts he had the chance to make last year, he was very good. That start against these same Red Sox was VERY impressive, especially given the magnitude of that game. I am not sure how you can blast him all over hell and back when our manager has CONSTANTLY misused him and he has not really been given much of a shot....

Just win... -
I have been there several times, its a blast. Enjoy it. Be sure to visit a lot of bars (especially the historical ones) and eat a lot of seafood (try Legal Seafood if you get the chance, great place). But most of all, bring home some damn victories. We should sweep that series....

QUOTE(ptatc @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) that's true. It's not like he trusted a rookie to close out World Series games or anything. Oh please....give me the other options he had?? Brokeback Hermanson? Jenks getting in there was a no brainer....Especially given how he had handled the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Brian continues to look stellar in CF, puts up great numbers since the ASB at the plate and yet Mack still gets 1/3 of the starts....explain that one.... Get off of last year, its a different season.
-
I've got it!! Lets trot a lineup out there today that says, "WE WANT TO WIN." Couple that with a Mark Buehrle outing similar to last Sunday against the Twinks. Add to that no Pods at all and no Mack in CF and we CAN do this.... It's the Royals, guys, the goddamn Royals. I don't care what Hawk says about them having "more intensity." Go out, own them, and win the f***ing game.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) Our team just hasn't hit their stride yet. Wait till we do! I am in, but if I had a dollar for every time I heard that this season, I could retire at 29.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 09:40 AM) Well let's just hope that Ozzie finally gets it, and we see BA pretty much every game from here on in. I said that after Saturdays loss to the Twinks, when Mack let two fly balls sail right over his head. I thought he DID get it after he started BA four straight games.... But alas, he didn't. He won't. Ozzie is Ozzie and it will never change. God could stand in front of him and tell him to play Brian in center every day and Ozzie would still follow his "gut".
-
QUOTE($I Need Money$ @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) You want Ozzie to bench pods for the rest of the year? Why not? He is utterly useless to this team right now. Popping out bunts, fouling off bad pitches to the point of fouling out, unable to get any sort of hit (clutch or not).... For all of the reasons he is on this team, he is not living up to a single one of them, and his numbers suck to prove it. I was a HUGE Pods advocate, but, he has turned from a helpful player to a hinderance, plain and simple. He is a liability in almost every aspect of the game.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:27 AM) I am 99.9% sure Sweeney will get plenty of playing time. If he wasn't, he would have never been called up. You don't just call up top prospects so they can just sit on the bench and watch, even if it is September call-ups. You would think that, but it is Ozzie we are talking about. His fascination with guys who flat out suck, coupled with his blatant mistrust of young players, and his inability to look beyond his "match-ups", give me all the reason in the world to believe that Sweeney will get a spot-start here and there over the rest of this month and that's it. His lineup last night all but guaranteed a loss....and quite frankly, I am tired of "tipping my cap" to the competition. Lets start putting a real f***ing baseball team out there....

I love how Hawk attributes the way we play against KC to their intensity and not the fact that we just suck sometimes. -

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) So why is he out there when we have +2 arms in the bullpen now? How can anyone defend ozzie's decisions? His gut didn't tell him it was time for Contreras to be done for the night, and he ONLY listens to his gut and not raw facts.... -

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Nope, this season it motivates them to give up. I think most of them are thinking about coming back to win tomorrow. I hope they aren't thinking about which BBQ restaurant they're going to eat at after the game. At least Anderson will be well rested enough for him and B-Mac to go pick up some hunnies.... Maybe that was Ozzies motivation to bench him, he wanted him well rested for the ladies... -

New dumbass Hawk-ism of the night, "This game gives us a good chance to have to come back." No s***?!?! Don't worry though, for the rest of the game, everyone will go to the plate and attempt to hit solo shots....only 7 needed to tie... -
