BTW for those who liked to point out that we had only scored in 1 of 16 innings up until the 9th inning yesterday, that makes 4 out of the last 5 innings we have scored in now. That is all.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) "You cheered in the stands, I laughed in the press box." A direct diss towards White Sox fans. What a f***ing asshole. Can he not even wait til they're losing to write this s***? I mean, it was a win. As it has been said, the only stat that counts is W's and L's... It's just sad. It may sell papers, but it's classless and will hopefully give the sun-times the negative reputation that they deserve for allowing a writer to basically call a whole fan base idiots for cheering on a win because he seems to know that the final outcome will be bad. Which is funny, because he never goes to Sox games. It is well noted that he has been two Comiskey one single time ever.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Who can we get at the trade deadline for 3B? If Pods and Everett play solid and Frank comes back strong, we do not need anything else except a 3B. Vinny Castillo available? That is not even funny.

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Bulls aside: Curry is out indefinitely. Eeep. How this team keeps winning is beyond me. If Skiles isn't coach of the year, Frank Thomas is a skinny 98 pound white boy.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) 2 outs and he's in scoring position, why steal? Were they not holding him on? Pods said at Soxfest how stealing 3rd base was lost art, and how often times it was easier because of the huge jumps you can get, and how the pitcher pays less attention to you there, because they believe you are less likely to try it. Also with Pods on 3rd instead of first he could score on a drop 3rd strike on on a WP/PB instead of just getting into 3rd and being stranded there.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Does it seem like the wind blown homers are looking less likely like last season??I know its maybe too early to tell but they aren't exactly flying out of the field so far. Talk to me in June. Right now the prevailing winds have all been in, as it should be in the end of winter into spring. When the winds shift to south and west, we will see if things change. Right now that east wind of the lake is cold, fast, and knocking down everything in sight.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Good points. As far as September games go, I think that's TOO far in advance for people to consider. Some people ( I tend to fall into this too ) think of baseball as a May to August thing. That's when I tend to go to most of my games, because to me, that's summer and summer = baseball. September is playoff crunch time and we all know how well THAT's worked out since 2000..... :banghead , so I tend to not buy those in advance. It's like going to a wake. and you could have just written Soxcitement and we'd all know what you meant. HEY.....that's a catchy term there.....SOXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Head to the copyright office now and get that one reserved!

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) How much do you think the jump in early sales has to do with the fact that tickets went on sale about a month earlier than they used to? I think that has to play a small part in the numbers sold so far. I do think people are a little more excited about the moves the team has made, but the earlier on-sale date is also a factor IMO. As for the Cubs, they have practically ZERO walk-ups. Hell, most of their entire season's seating was sold on the first day. If the Sox sold out every game, you just KNOW we'd hear complaints about "fair-weather fans" and parking nightmares and scalpers, so I'd just as soon have 20-25K a night and not worry about it. That could be, but by that logic the games in September should be sold out, because they have much, much longer to buy tickets. I think selling tickets at Soxfest was a duh moment stroke of genius. You get 30,000 people to come and do nothing but think about the Sox, and then you used to leave them with nothing to channel that outlet to. To have tickets available for them was a great idea. I think even if the fest had been later, the mere fact of giving people a way to do something with their Sox-excitment would have jumped sales somewhat.
