White Sox @ Twins: 4/10/05 Game Thread
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) You don't mess with Mike or you get this It has nothing to do with messing with me... it has everything to do with having an admin, a mod, and numerous posters warning you to quit the name calling, and then not doing so.

White Sox @ Twins: 4/10/05 Game Thread
QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) No, not surprised. More flabbergasted I guess. This has gotten goofy, I'm out of this thread. Sounds like a job for the moderators to me. It is, and it has been addressed.

Buehrle 1-0 Crede 0-1
QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) I know, but everyone was saying that we lost because of Crede.. when there was still no guarantee the play would have been made.. a few even blamed him for the HR which was unreal The sad thing is that no one is mentioning the excellent defensive play that should have resulted in the CS at 3B of Torii Hunter by covering his line to the base. Hunter never got his foot on the bag, (as Joe had it perfectly blocked) and Crede had the tag down, but the ump just flat out missed it.

Buehrle 1-0 Crede 0-1
QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) You can blame Crede for keeping the inning going if you must, but even so theres no guarantee Juan would have been able to make the play.. You cant blame Crede for Mark getting the count to 3 - 1 and grooving a FB right down the middle.. that wasnt Credes fault.. We still won the series, who cares.. off the Cleveland now Uribe would not have been able to make that play. There is no way he can get to that ball, get up, and still have enough time and/or arm to get the out at 1B. Crede was doing exactly what he should have done, and that was try to keep the ball on the IF. 3rd basemen are taught to take any play they can, especially ones where momentum is taking them towards 1B, and SSs away from there. It just makes sense that the player moving towards 3rd would be the first priority to try to make that play, even if he just knocked the ball down in the IF.

Torii Hunter's quote after the game
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) All I know is that sox fans used to hate AJ, too. Whenever Hunter is a free agent, I'd love to see him bring his glove and bat to 35th and Dan Ryan No doubt about it.

I did not expect that to be a serious article at all.

Ozzie's quote on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball
QUOTE(MoreCowbell @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) I loved Ozzie's quote on ESPN, but I thought the best part of having the game on ESPN was the K-Zone. It really showed how generous the ump was with the strike-zone for Santana. And the relievers. That zone was HUGE.

Twins and White Not a Factor in the Central?
Now THAT's comedy.

Boycott Thread
QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) Some Eminem fans are a good reason to boycott as well. There are plenty of teams I can't stand because of their fans. Duke Basketball, Kansas basketball, ND football, Red Sox baseball, Red Wings hockey just to name a few.

Kansas City
Good deal Jim. The wife and I have made a bunch of roadtrips, but ours usually involved catching a game in the middle of a vacation. We were going to try to catch Baltimore and maybe either Philly or Pittsburgh, but we had a slight change in priorities in the last few months Also good luck and for your family, it sounds like you guys need it with your dad.

Boycott Thread
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) It's easier to boycott if you don't like something to begin with. Can somebody please tell me that Eminem is a Cubs fan??? Tigers fans.... And that is just about as good of a reason for a boycott.

Films
I saw "Death to Smoochie" yesterday and just loved it. Robin Williams plays a bribe taking kids show host, who ends up trying to get revenge against the clean cut innocent guy who ended up taking his place. It was twisted and hysterical. I highly recommend it.

Ozzie's quote on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball
QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) Ozzie is a quote machine!!!! Easily the funniest Sox manager I can recall. There's no one else in the race! I don't know, Jerry was a pretty funny dude.... there was that one time he said, umm, uhh... you know what I am talking about, right? Well he said something. And it was Really FUNNY.

First Week Thoughts?
I could go into specifics, but there is one big generality that makes me feel all warm inside right now, and that is all of the runs we are stealing this year. We are bunting, taking extra bases, stealing, putting pressure on the defense etc, and it is paying off so far.

Buehrle 1-0 Crede 0-1
QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Guarantee no one on the plane to Cleveland is going to pointing fingers at Joe or Mark. Not ONE single player. Instinct tells you to get the ball at any means possible. As an infielder your job is to not let that ball get past you, no matter what the situation is. What was Joe trying to do? Stop the ball. The only guy that they need to point fingers at for losing this game was the guy on the pitching mound for the Twins.

Surprising no one has posted this yet
I have no problem with that loss yesterday. Really it was kind of encouraging in a way. We scored two runs off of a pitcher we would not have scored any runs off of last year, and it was all due to aggressive play, and hustle. It was a site for sore eyes.

Steroid Question
Depends on what you mean by illegal... Most have been banned by law in the US, but not by major league baseball.

Jim I gotta ask you, is there a White Sox roadtrip that you could not supply an intinerary for? You are like the Soxtalk travel agent.

Sox @ Tribe: 4/11/05

White Sox @ Twins: 4/10/05 Game Thread
I haven't read through all of this, but to whoever said that Santana wasn't one of the top pitchers in baseball, and ranked Buehrle ahead of him, go back and watch the last 4 innings that Santana pitched. Then come back and tell me if you have ever seen a preformance like that EVER out of Mark Buehrle. Mark has had his great starts, but he has never been absolutely unhitable like Santana was. Really Santana should have had a shutout, or have given up just one run at most. Guillen's aggressive managing was what got them both of those runs. I hate to lose to the Twins, but I gotta give credit where credit is due. Johan Santana is probably the best pitcher in the AL right now.

Omar Viz or Juan Uribe?
If it is just SBs it would have to be Vizquel. But I don't think you are going to get enough SBs out of him to make him better than Uribe.

Brewers/Cubs Game
That slide by Carlos killed me. Not only did he about take out Walkers knee on that play, he about tore his ACL on 2nd base while doing it.
