  1. So out of curiousity where do Baltimore, Toronto and Tampa Bay rank without the Yankees and Red Sox home games skewing their numbers? It is easy to post those numbers and say that but you do realize that by playing all of those games in Boston which sold out it entire season, and NY which leads MLB in home attendance, those numbers are all bogus. The AL central is last in MLB in HOME attendance. Which when you play about half of your games against the AL Central, just goes to reason that AL Central road attendance would be pretty s***ty. And finally there is no correlation between how many Yankees and Red Sox fans go to see their team play the DRays in the Bronx, and how many people will go to see them in Chicago. Unless you are honestly trying to tell me that the Blue Jays, Devil Rays, and Orioles have huge followings. Is that what you are telling me?
  2. How the heck do I know what Baltimore fans do?
  3. Because for most of the year, this team was in the divisional race. As soon as the team fell out, the only games that had big attendance were games that had big pre-sales. The sooner this team falls out of the race, the sooner attendance plumments. It is pretty much a proven fact. If we are out of the race in May instead of August, we will draw somewhere in the area of a million people instead of 2.
  4. How about the DRays and Blue Jays? How about all of the extra losses that this team will have early in the year because they are playing in a much better division? And what happens when the Sox are out of it? No one goes. They will be drawing 8,000 in April and July-September for anyone who isn't the Yankees or Red Sox. Yeah those 20 games that the Yanks/Sox are here will be full of their fans, but all of the rest of the games will plummet, because White Sox fans won't pay to see a team that doesn't have a chance at winning.
  5. Let me put it this way. When this team goes into the toilet and no one goes to the ballpark, he won't be making any money. That is what the strike was about was controling salaries so that they could make more money, this move would kill the White Sox.
  6. Why would the Sox want to move to a tougher division and add more airtravel to their schedule? Plus they would either have to add payroll, or just blow up the team and start over again, because the inbetween stuff would kill them. I don't buy it.
  7. What kind of pitcher is Williams flyball or groundball? Those numbers in a very pitcher friendly SF could explode in the Cell.
  8. I am glad to see that. To me it is obvious that when Carl is pissy, he is lazy. Look at his conditioning this year vs last year. He was way heavier, and I have no doubt that is why he had all of the injury problems. The Sox have to figure out a way to keep him motivated so that he contributes next year, instead of rotting on the DL again.
  9. Crude is trading through $50 on the electronic overnight session. The key figure is an industry inventory number that is coming out tomorrow.
  10. Excellent work Knight
  11. Come on D, everyone ranks ahead of the Aussies

What are pathetic old jokes for $1000, Alex?
  15. And Grilli more than makes up for it with his 8 years of mediocre at best minor league stats. I just find it interesting that you will twist the exact same arguement the opposite way when it suits your needs. Be cute and condesending all you want, but manipulating arguements is bush league. OUT
  16. So other than that, everything was right? Me
  17. Absolutely. Is there anyway we can induct 3?

Now would you like me to spell it right?
  19. Me too. I am really glad to see that the old timers got their props. To me it would be like having a baseball HOF without guys like Ty Cobb or Babe Ruth.

Don't take it the wrong way. I am not telling you what to do. Just trying to give you a little perspective. I have no problem with doing it when you want to.
  21. I don't want to put words in Tex's mouth, but it is all about the amount of nominations that people got. These 10 were the people that got mentioned most often. Since HSC wasn't in there, it means that not too many other people PMd Tex with her name. Keep in mind there are a lot of posters who joined in the last year who have no idea who she is. And actually many of the Founders weren't mentioned that often just because lots of the newer posters have no idea the contributions that people like Mario for example made to Soxtalk.

This is the Hotel Soxtalk- You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave... that is unless we ban you There's no need to retire. Many posters have had their posting habits change, Chisoxfn and Supersteve are two good examples. Just because you aren't going to post here all of the time, doesn't mean you have to leave. Soxtalk values all posters, whether it is the spammers extrordinaire like me, or the guys who post once in a bluemoon. That is what makes the site great. You don't have to be a regular to contribute.
