He also got caught stealing a ton which negates a lot of his OBP. Sizemore's OBP may be a bit lower than Podsednik's but he more than made up for that minute difference with his ability to hit for power and drive in runs. After the first AB of a game, the idea of a "leadoff" hitter doesn't mean much. You are only the leadoff man one time in a game.

So why is Podsednik a better leadoff hitter than Sizemore?

Sizemore produces more in the leadoff spot than Podsednik does. What is Podsednik possibly better at? I don't have the stats on me but I will guarantee that Sizemore's VORP is much higher than Podsednik's.
