The Monty Stratton Story Long Gone Field of Dreams A little trivia about Field of Dreams: The scene where Costner meets the old Doc (Moonlight Graham) were shot in historic downtown Galena, Illiniois. Durnig filming breaks in Dyersville, Iowa, Costner would go to Galena to golf and loved the downtown area and told the director he wanted to use it in the movie. I've been there. It's absolutely beautiful! U.S. Grant was from there and his tomb is also there.
