Bring up Anthony Webster. -
The Sox mishandled the whole deal last year. I think they still have time to undo the damage, but I don't think KW is the man for that job. If they can't undo the damage, then some damage control is needed so that Mark can have his head on straight and have a good year in 2003. When they renew his contract for 2003, they ought to do it for at least $1 Million. Then they can negoiate seriously for 2004.
-
Does anyone know exactly WHY KW got the gig over Evans, who was the logical replacement for RS.? I was not in Chitown at the time.
-
If there ever was a need for collusion it is against that particular agent.
-
So, why did we expose Majewski to the Rule V Draft? It's not because we deeded the roster spot.
-
With the addition of Flash, we still have only 36 roster spots filled. I noticed they did not have to use a spot for Nunez. I wonder what's cooking to fill up one or two of those spots.

It took me over a year to forget the Baldwin trade with the Dodgers, and you all just brought it up. Still blows my mind. We give up Baldwin for a career, 34 year old minor league outfielder named Berry who couldn't hit, AND we agreed to pay Baldwins's salary. Then the truth came out that KW really wanted some pitcher named Barry, but KW couldn't spell and he got the first names confused. They couldn't write stuff like this for a sit-com show. How did the Dodgers even have the guts to suggest we pay the rest of Baldwin's salary, unless it was KW's idea in the first place? Will someone please tell me how Kenny explained this to the media. Did he have a press conference to introduce Berry? If so, did he arrive in a turnip truck? I'm still embarrassed.

Stop talking about Corky's speed. KW will order JM to put him in the outfield.

Comeback Player of the Year? NOT!!!

I didn't see Aaron (MVP/Southern League) Miles' name.

WSC: Now I'm interested. Where did Chris Young play last year?
-
He has a Nextel connected to KW.

Bradford has done pretty well for the A's, for a non-closer. They seem to like him. We'll see how he does this year, but his ERA has been good. The other thing I remember about him is that, right after we traded him, he was on the mound against us with the game on the line, and Paul Konerko hit one about nine miles to win the game. Useless trivia.
-
Forgive me, but who is Amaury Garcia? I was out of the country for a while, and I must have missed this one. Didn't Robert Person get hit real hard the last half of last year? I don't have the stats, but I seem to recall watching him get tatooed in the second half a couple of times.
-
Put his bust in a separate room, and he should get a big frigging asterisk *** "As a player only, because as a manager he illegally bet on his own team as well as other teams, and thus he caused shame and discredit to the game." Then, hire him as a hitting/sliding/bunting/baserunning coach for the Sox. He could teach our kids a lot about how to play the game, and he would be great for attendance, so then JR can go out and sign Royce Clayton for $5 Million/ year to sit on the bench in his tennies.
-
The Royce Clayton trade was horrrrrrrrible, just on his salary alone. What did he get, something like $9-10 Million over two years? $5 Large a year, or something close? Why? Because the Rangers had just signed A-Rod the Great, and they still had Clayton on the roster. So, naturally, they wanted to get rid of him. Who do they turn to---You got it, Fast Kenny. We drastically overpaid, and the only reason I can think of is becasue the Rangers wanted us to. I don't even remember what player we gave up. Who cares? We were a team supposedly strapped for cash, and we volunteered to pay him $5 Large per year for 2 years? Someone please tell me what bargaining strength the Rangers had. This single trade was KW's second worst. I don't have a big problem with Clayton's performance. He lived up to his M.O. Good defense, a few base hits, decent speed. Remember, he did hit about .260 or so. No complaint. But to assume his full salary, just because the Rangers signed A-Rod the Great was ludicrous. It was embarrassing. No other GM would have even considered assuming that salary.

Josh Paul has already worked out in left field. I'm sure he would be OK; probably well ahead of Carlos with the glove. If he sticks, he will be a fifth outfielder, I'm sure. Otherwise, hard to justify a roster spot on a third string catcher, especially if Alomar looks healthy on 3-31-03.
-
You didn't like Mike Caruso?
-
I think the Impact player is Frank Thomas. If he hits, he is a HUGE impact. If he continues to disintegrate and falls apart like a 29 cent mop, it changes everything. The whole team changes. I have no idea what he will do this year, but I would not put him on a fantasy team. Hope I'm wrong.
-
I don't think any decision will be made on Harris until we see how Tony G is. Signing Rios as the 4th outfielder probably bought Harris's ticket to Charlotte. If Rowand doesn't hit...................I don't even want to think about it.

TO: DoubleM23. Sorry, I meant "Matt", I think Ken Karchner is an actor who used to be on the "Dallas" show. Senior moment.
-
It still blows my mind how a kid so young can come from nowhere and be so good, so fast. Everyone will be following him very closely this year. Whoever is responsible for scouting/signing him should get a fat raise.

Is Gonzales highly rated by the Sox? I know he hit about .280 at Bristol last year. Does anyone know where all those studs from last year's Bristol team are going to be playing this year? I'd like to see a few of them skip a classification or two. Especially Webster.
