  1. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Can someone please give me an update? I'm no longer watching it because my little brother decides to be an idiot. 1-0, heading into the 5th. Garland pitching really well, but only 1 ground ball out. Sox have K'd 7 times in 4 innings so far.
  2. I've noticed that the ball doesn't seem to carry in the park like I remember it in the past. A lot of ball hit just shy of, or on to, the warning track.
  3. QUOTE(Chopper2Hopper @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) Well Mack caught the ball more often than not probably too, but wouldn't you rather have a true CF? This revolving door is growing tiresome. Well of course I'd rather have a better CF, but he hasn't done a bad job. Thats all I'm saying. KKKKKK QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) It kind of sounds like a soccer game in the background, with the bongos and the cow bells, and the other percussionists. All they need is some Air Horns, and some flags and it could be Oakland. And some chants...
  4. QUOTE(Chopper2Hopper @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:58 PM) Well, it takes him about a year to figure out when someone can't play somewhere. Mack was left to die in center all last season, but have we seen him there this year? Of course not! Ozzie is a little slow, but hopefully Andy won't be out there next year. Despite a few bad jumps, he has been very competent out there in the OF.
  5. QUOTE(Chopper2Hopper @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) There's your run, Jon. Now go get em! Reality: This game will be tied minimum after this next half inning. This can't be good.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:52 PM) Wait a second, Andy Gonzales is our CF. Nope, actually, Andy Gonzalez is our CF.
  7. KKKKK QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) Cut juan uribe now. between innings. i appreciate the two defensive plays he made in game four of the world series. but his lazy, stupid play is intolerable. After he hit a triple and scored a run?
  8. Andy Gonzalez for MVP? Get's the RBI groundout. Helluva play by the SS.
  9. Juan doesn't score on the slow roller to 2nd.
  10. Uribe with a triple! I've seen it all! And WTF was Delmon Young doing on that fly ball?
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 06:33 PM) The most insulting thing to us Sox fans this year has to be that Greg Walker still has a job. I agree with that 100%. I think just about any other franchise would have fired him 3 times already. Maybe Greg Walker/White Sox = Milton/Office Space? BTW, the facial hair has to go Jon.
  12. 49 K's in the last 38 innings for our offense.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Terrero's better because he's got a better minor league record and controls the strike zone better than Abercrombie. Now Luis' biggest obstacle keeping him from being an average big leaguer is his inability to control the zone, but he's got a respectable 3.5/1 K/BB ratio in the majors to go along with a 4/1 mark in the minors. Abercrombie has a 4.8/1 mark in the majors and a Collaroian 6.5 mark in the minors. Luis' biggest weakness is also Abercrombies, who is far worse. Terrero also has 200 more AB's than Abercrombie. Thats far too small of a sample size. Had the Marlins brought him up better, there is no doubt in my mind that Abercrombie would be a much better player. Abercrombie is more talented, Terrero is probably more skilled.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 05:02 PM) lol, random Last victim of the hidden ball trick, and he's gotten thrown out at bases more than any other player on the Sox this year. fathom knows more about his stupidity than I do...
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) How is he better than Terrero? Because he hit a long HR? Terrero at least has some minor league results to fall back on. He OPSed over 900 the IL last year, two years after OPSing over 900 in the PCL... Abercrombie can't match that and has even worse control of the strike zone than the fringy Terrero. Terrero is 27, dumb, and his career .234 BA just blows Abercrombie's out of the water. What have we seen from Terrero that makes him so much better than Abercrombie? Everyone was wowed by his long home run too. I'm not saying Abercrombie is some stud can't-miss guy, I'm just saying he has the tools to become at least a respectable major leaguer.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) Gotta disagree. I'd rather take a potentialy raw low level minor leaguer than a guy like Abecrombie who has been up at the big legaue level for substantial time with limited major league success (and I see no reason why he would all of a sudden turn things on as he was one of those guys that was over-rated to begin with, imo). Nice move by the Marlins. This would have been the equivalent to dealing Joe Borchard for Jacque Jones (well at least close). I agree that the Marlins win this deal, and easily. All I'm saying is that Abercrombie has talent, and 26 years old does not mean he's going to be terrible forever. IIRC, he never played in AA or AAA, so he missed a lot of that learning process. Whether he makes the team or not, the Marlins got the better end of the deal, I just think they at least got something they could potentially work with.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) I'm always accused of praising Cubs players too much...but Abercrombie sucks. He won't make their big league roster. Oh, I never said he'd make the big league roster.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) no different than an A ball scrub - both are meaningless. It would be no different if it were the Mariners or Yankees getting Abercrombie. None. He is better than an A ball scrub, come on now. He was brought up prematurely by the Marlins and that has contributed to a lot of his struggles. He is better than Terrero, has similar, if not greater, power (1st ML HR = 493 feet), he is fast, plays good defense, and can become a respectable major leaguer.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) First of all, I haven't seen confirmation that Abercrombie is headed the Cubs way. I kinda doubt it, I suspect the Cubs are going to look to clear a 40-man spot with the move, and will get a low-minor leaguer in return. Second. A major leaguer? sure Abercrombie has 7 career HR, but he's less of a major leaguer than Andy Gonzalez. The only reason he's a "major leaguer" is because the Marlins suck and were looking for any interesting (and cheap) players to fill their outfield the last couple years. If this was the Mariners or Yankees trading Jones for Abercrombie, I bet this would be a different story from some people. I'm just saying, he's a better pick up than some A ball scrub.
  20. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:04 AM) http://www.break.com/index/new-japanese-baseball-pitch.html I love the guy who responded to that and said: I have seen it done many times: in the MLB, nothing special"
