  1. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Actually, I loved the campus, I thought it was beautiful, but I just didnt fit for some reason. The golf course was a nice little touch for me as well, but I liked the feel at U of I. It fits me better, and I want a Big Ten degree, I know it may not mean much to some, but to me that's a selling point. Plus, the Big Ten athletics are always fun, GVSU kills everyone at everything. I'm sure I'll visit there the next few years, but it just wasn't me. It's a great school, and you may or may not like it there, again, the campus is absolutely gorgeous, the classes are small, and everything seems brand new, but it's a personal thing. That is basically all I have been hearing about it. I cant wait to visit. Sports wise, I know the baseball coach and he has basically reserved a spot for me in the bullpen so that's a plus. As of now, GVSU has the makings of my future college.
  2. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) I was deciding between GVSU and U of I as well, I chose U of I. I liked the feel there. It was strange cause I had a s***load of connections at GVSU, the head football coach is a family friend, and he knows everyone, but I just didnt feel like I belonged there. I also am going to try to play D2 club hockey at U of I, and their goalie is graduating supposedly Anything you did or didn't like about Grand Valley???

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) Damn good list right there. All of those were up there for me. Definitely. I can kick back to any of those movies and let the memories run through my mind. Karate was big for me when I was a kid lol. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) I liked Angels in the Outfield a lot when i was little......and the fact that the White Sox were defending champs in that movie made it better. Forgot about that one. Love it, own it.
  4. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/m...-0402_brief.php Mizzou is not on that list but I am definitely going to check it out.
  5. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Where does Ohio University--Athens, rank on that list? I always heard they were a good broadcast school. As far as GVSU, my girlfriend had a friend go to school there and run track. She seemed to really like the school and always had good things to say about the school. Also its not too far of a drive from Chicago. Not on the list.
  6. QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) GVSU is a decent school, depending on what you study. Grand Rapids is a fun town as well, especially since the campus is right downtown. Do you go there?
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) As much as I hate to say it, Bush did a nice job. What did he say they call Pauly? Mr. Soxtober???? Yes.....and I have never heard ANYONE call him Mr. Soxtober.
  8. QUOTE(farmteam @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) 1st rule to being a good journalist: Don't trust one source. Also, are you using the 2006 one? I don't know if the 2007 edition is out yet, but the 2006 one has been out for quite a while. Yup, 2006. 2007 isn't out yet.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) Anyone else pumped that Crede still has the same haircut? I am more pumped that AJ has the same do.
  10. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) thankyou Of course. BTW, whoever rights Dubya's speaches is pretty funny. EDIT 2: f***ing El Duque must have been tired because he blinks about every .002372 seconds. Watch him in the top left corner lol.
  11. QUOTE(farmteam @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) Broadcast Journalism and no Missouri on the list? I heard they were cheap (for an out-of-state school, at least) AND had a good program. Just wondering. Not according to the US News Top Broadcasting schools...
  12. The entire clip can be seen at abc7chicago.com. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/index?section=c...nity&id=3401136
  13. Anyone watch Real Madrid/Athletic Bilbao? Robinho is a flipping beast!
  14. U-RSoBeautifulThome = SF1 You're all going down b****es....that means you WHarris1.
  15. You're gonna get some mixed reactions but I think T.O. would be good on the field for the Bears but the off-the-field issues scare everyone away. And McNabb is not the most overrated player in NFl history.....
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) Go to the school that gives you the most money. That's what I did. What school would that be?
  17. Aberdeen/Rangers coming up on Setanta Sports if anyone is interested.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 04:23 AM) I'm thinking new avy for you.
  19. I am not basing my whole choice off of what people are saying but I am taking words of advice. I definitely will not make my final choice until I visit my top 3, which I have already stated. Right now, I am in love with Grand Valley because it is a big school and the campus is beautiful. It is less than 20 minutes away from Grand Rapids and it is less than an hour away from Lake Michigan. I am a big outdoorsman so this plays into it as well because there is solid hunting and fishing area's up there. For the most part, they are known for their Broadcast Journalism program and they were ranked as one of the tops in the country by US News for that major. Like SnB said, Illinois has that "far from home but not too far" thing going for it, and it would be a lot cheaper for me to go there but they aren't known for their Broadcast Journalism program. GVSU has internships where I can work on the school TV channel or Radio and they help you find jobs in that major. The University of Akron is the same as GVSU but it is a bit farther and more expensive. Like I said, as of now, GVSU is my choice but who knows what can happen. I may go visit it and absolutely hate it.
  20. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) I live in Jersey now, but I am moving to Minnesota for school in late August/early September. I toured Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Illinois: Chicago, and Minnesota last year, while having been to UIUC, Purdue, Penn State, and Wisconsin with my other brothers when they were looking at colleges (so, like 5-8 years ago ). How long did the trip take?
  21. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) Thats cool. When I was going around last summer, I put them all together on one big trip since most of them were in the midwest and I live in Jersey. That way, I wouldn't have to be driving back and forth between here and the midwest Before looking at the schools, my list was something like this: 1. University of Illinois: Chicago 2. Pittsburgh University 3. Michigan State 4. University of Minnesota 5. random other schools which I didn't visit (Kent State, Penn State, some others) After looking at the schools, I realized how much I hated Michigan State, and Pittsburgh seemed rather dull, although was still nice. I loved Chicago, which was expected, and I fell in love with Minnesota's college atmosphere and campus. I ended up applying to one school (Minnesota), which isn't smart, in September, and was accepted by mid-October. I was done with the college process before most of the people I knew even submitted their applications (I suggest that anyone applying to colleges does it early, its great). I had my housing application done and accepted by the end of November, and haven't had to worry about anything since then. I have an Open House on March 4th, and past that, I don't think there's anything else until late August when I move in. So yea, thats basically my entire college story So are you living in Pittsburgh now? Where did you tour? Blah, meant New Jersey not Pittsburgh. :banghead

QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father, prepare to die. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, "The Princess Bride" was one of the my favorite movies when I was younger.. hell, who am I kidding, it still is Definitely a favorite but I wouldn't necessarily call it a childhood movie.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) My only advice is to go with your gut, and don't end up going to a college just to please others. You should also check the college out in person at least once or twice, and when you are there, make sure you can picture yourself there for the next 4 years (or so) of your life. You'll get accepted somewhere, and you'll find the right college. Its just a matter of time. The only decision I have made so far is to not choose until I see all my top 3 in person. I will be visiting GVSU this summer, UI is not far so I can go down there any weekend, and I am planning on visiting Akron and SCSU this summer too.
  24. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) 6. Any college with large Serbian population. What exactly do you plan on majoring in? Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Media, etc.
