If the Sox win and Indians, NY or Red Sox lose
SoxFan1 replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Just curious.. is there anything you don't complain about...? Childish.. in your eyes.. the irony. And FYI.. they haven't been there before. Let them enjoy it how they want. You can't be serious. You just cant. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) f*** that...playoffs is the playoffs. You don't get an extra prize for winning the world series and the division. Have you ever seen a team clinch the wildcard, still be in 1st in the divis, and celebrate? It would be childish in my eyes. Act like you've been there before, the job is not done. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) I'd celebrate. I don't care what the Sox do as long as they get in and I'm not the White Sox, but Ill be going crazy. You don't celebrate a Wild Card clincher if you are still in 1st place...that would be morbidly stupid of the Sox to do. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Rain..... These winds are about to rip the flag off my house! I wub Serbia.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) If the Red Sox and Yankees both lose, and the Sox win, the Sox clinch a playoff spot. So far the first two parts of that equation look good Nice. Let's f***ing do it then! -
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) f*** I love Frank Catalanotto. Why isn't he on our team? It seems to me that the Blue Jays have rights to his contract and pay him the dough. Any other guesses?

SO CAN WE CLINCH OR NOT TONIGHT? -
This website will reak the depths of hell if the Sox do not make the playoffs. Just thinking about it makes me get a headache. But if we do win the division, the slurpage will be excessive...

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) i'll never teeeellllllll...seriously. don't want to ruin it for a pack fan who has to stare at it and upon finding out, that would probably be all they notice and would therefore take it down and run me out of business... I know of 3 possible options but I am not sure which is the "jab."

3rd one is best Simon, great job as usual.

As far as I am concerned, there is no use in arguing. A.) It will not affect the team at all. B.) It's late. C.) It's still not going to affect the team. D.) We're playing like s***, no executing and it's up to the players not the posters. G'night guys.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) What's the point in stealing a base if you're not going to drive them in from 2nd anyway? And without Pods SB ability right now, he's pretty much useless, even though he'll still get on base for ya. How is that Pods' fault that his teammates can't get him over?
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) Nobody plays .850+ a full season. You have to admit they're playing over their heads right now, and making up for their poor first half quite well. ^
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) And Pods .352 obp looks godly to what we would have had to put in the leadoff spot which probably would have been Aaron and his .329 obp. Carlos's obp is pretty ugly as well for someone in his spot. ^

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Dude, his average draft position in fantasy drafts the past two seasons has been in about the third round. Nobody new who Luis Vizcaino was when the deal went down. Pods was a waiver wire reject, and there were several people here wo said just that. SBs are overrated. Totally dumb argument. 1.) You stated FANTASY baseball stats. 2.) No one knew who Vizcaino was huh? 3.) Stolen bases are overrated? I NEVER want to see you cheer in a game thread or anything about SB's then. How is getting 1/4 of the way closer overrated? Not to mention sometimes stealing 2 bases and getting 1/2 way there.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) That alone doesn't make up for the amount of runs scored. Cleveland has a better offense than us. They're offense isn't playing over their heads. What they did in the 2nd half AFTER guys like Boone and Martinez were hitting below .200 is remarkable. Playing .900+ ball isn't over their heads? I agree, their offense is better than ours but not .900 better. And the question had nothing to do with Cleveland, I just wanted to know because our execution sucks.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) And Jermaine Dye's had a better season than Maggs this year, and has pretty much hit for the same power for about $8M less. Thomas and Everett, well Everett after the 1st half has pretty much stunk. You have to take into consideration A.) who is in Maggs' lineup and B.) How much he missed this season.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) Oh. I was lazy for green. Consider it sarcasm. Gotcha. I was about to say...how do youhave 70 steals and no one knows you!?!?!?
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Your joking right? Cleveland have scored 36 more runs than us. If you remember how bad they were in the 1st half of the season, what they've done in the 2nd half far outweighs what we did in the 1st half. Read the 3rd post on this page...
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I wouldn't call Pods one of the most overrated players in baseball. There are far too many more better-known players with more name reocgnition that can take that title before him. Not that, but saying only his family and Brewers fans knew him????
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) Carlos Lee is hitting .282 with RISP. That'd be pretty damn valuable right now. And don't forget the 01-04 offense put up more runs than the one we had this season. It's all been the pitching. Since you seem to have the stats...compare the 1st half Sox abg with RISP and 2nd half...
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) No way. Unless you mean as far as playing over their heads. Uuum, duh.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) Nobody but his family and a couple of brewers fans knew who he was last year... He may be a little bit overrated, but I wouldn't go as far as calling him one of the most in all of baseball. What are you talking about?
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) Why do you think a team like Cleveland's offense has become so good then? And I know you're going to say Travis Hafner, but don't tell me you wouldn't want Grady Sizemore and Coco Crisp over Scott Podsednik and Aaron Rowand then? And it's not like our offense is fantastic anyways. Why would I say Travis Hafner? That ENTIRE team is playing WAY over their heads right now, as were the Sox in the 1st half. What does that have to do with your point of the vital power position? White Sox 1st half offense = Indians 2nd half offense
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) Doesn't that make Kent for more valuable than Pods then? Like I said before, SB's alone don't make up for the other bad parts of his game. Your still not getting it. Like Yahtzee said, do we have to fit the mold of every toher team? LF is NOT a vital "power position." You get power from where you have it and you get defense from where you have it.
