  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) I think he's 14. Pretty smart baseball wise for a 14 year old. I'll be 16 in less than a month...
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Kid how old are you? I am sure he will if it is at his head. Most pitchers will not throw at a guys head. Who is going to throw it at the players legs? Risk a wild pitch? That doesnt make sense. Since he has used that elbow pad I have not seen him move. That is correct. Read what is in bold again. In bold it states that BIGGIO tries to hit himself. BONDS does not intentionally try to get hit. BIGGIO actually will stick his arm or elbow into a pitch. Have you never seen this done? BONDS does not do that. Why does he have to INTENTIONALLY try to get hit by the pitch in order to never get out of the way of a pitch? Your argument is ridiculous. Im sick of this age bulls***. It doesn't f***ing matter how old I am. I am still a fan and I still think your argument is dumb. I never said Biggio doesnt try to get hit on purpose. He is a leadoff hitter and a scrappy player who just wants to get on base. By saying Bonds never moves from a pitch heading right towards him, you are inferring that he wants to get hit on purpose. 9 HBP a year is not a lot. Yet, my argument is ridiculous. :rolly
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Why would he move after he got hit by the ball? I don't understand. He got hit by the ball and then tried to get out of the way? Why would someone do that? You started the argument. All along I said I was not arguing the home run point, but you kept insisting I was. I argued that it made him a better overall hitter. Look at my posts. I even included on base percentage, batting average, and walks. Go back and check it out wise guy. Wow. Do you not watch baseball. Someone can actually turn into a pitch on accident and get plunked. Did you see how Jenks popped that Ambres guy in te chin yesterday??? Or how about a late reaction. Look at Hafner when he got popped by Buehrle. 2nd, how can you claim he started the argument when at 1st, you challenged me by saying that the juice is not why he is good, instead, it is the "armor."???
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Jesus f***ing Christ kid. Carl Everett does stand on top of the plate, but does not wear body armor. The pitcher can brush hm off the plate as much as he wants and Carl WILL move. Bonds has no need to as he is protected. They won't pitch Bonds inside. Biggio doesn't stand on top of the plate. Closer than Frank, but not right on top of it like Bonds or Crazy Carl. He sometimes puts his elbow out there to get plunked. He has tried to get hit at times. I have never seen Bonds do that. 1. Calm the f*** down killer. 2. If your gonna tell me Bonds doesnt move on brush-back pitches than your f***ing crazy. He is a human being, not a robot. Natural reflexes are to get your ass out of the way of a pitching coming at you! WTF are you talking about!?!?! 3. IN bold your saying he never tries to hit himself, yet, earlier, all you were saying is that he doesnt get out of the way, ever. How does that make sense?
  5. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) Also, for my money, Bonds 04 was the greatest year by a hitter, ever. 2002 was arguabley better. More HR's, RBIs, higher AVG, more SB, more Hits, more 2Bs, and less GIDP.
  6. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) That shouldnt be in green.... Maybe. Maybe not. You'll never know.....
  7. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) Imagine these big hulking hunk of men, hitting titanic home runs with regularity at the expense of that certain part of the anatomy. Must do wonders for their love lives. Is it worth the money???
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Butchering others' quotes I see...
  9. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Bottom line is Bonds hits HR's because he is f***ing GOOD, not because of the armor. But I do think that the armor gives hitters an unfair advantage over the pitchers. Wow, you guys are making it sound like he wears a Knight's oufit. He's not the only one to wear an elbow pad. Yet, he hits more HR's than anyone else.
  10. Look at Carl Everett and how damn close he stand to the plate. He doesn't hit 50 HR's a year. Compare Bonds HBP #'s to Biggio who gets hit over 20 times a year. 256 HBP in 300 less career games. He wears an elbow pad. He stands close to the plate. Yet, he averages 15 HR's a year.
  11. Barry Bonds: 93 HBP in 2716 games in his career. Since 2000: 2000- 3 2001- 9 2002- 9 2003- 10 2004- 9 Previous to 2001, he had been hit 8 times in 1 season twice. 6 times once. And 5 times twice. Those are low HBP totals....
  12. I am too scared to go. I don't want to be made fun of in person...
  13. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) 1)I don't see Bonds getting traded. 2)Elbow pads don't help driving balls out of the ballpark. Yup, that pretty much sums it up.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Again, Anaheim and a some other teams like don'e mind spending money wouldn't give 2 s***s abot his contract. He would bring enough fans in to the stadim chasing the home run record that the contract wouldn't even matter. The Juice? HA!! OK. In Barry's case I don't think it is the juice that is helping him. Now if they outlawed body armor and elbow pads in baseball then we may see a different player than the old Bonds. Expensiveness as to what other teams would have to give up? I can't see it being a lot as SF would be stuck between a rock and a hard place. If his knee does not allow him to play the field where the hell are the Giants going to play him? They have no choice but to trade him. If every team knows this do you really think they are going to pay a lot to get him? I don't think you are thinking this through completely. Maybe I'm not but explain to me how 1 big elbow pad helps him hit???
  15. Your right, only in Indiana. 30 other states would have the "peeper" be a burglar and the other 19 wouldn't have peepers.
  16. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) I doubt koch would get treated like that if he came back as a visitor. Hawkins received racist letters in the mail on top of things. Shingo definately would never get that treatment. Of course not. We still love Shingo. It is just a shame that he never got it together this season. And now that we know he is going to stay in Charlotte, we can only hope he does get beck to the Shingo of '04.
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) oh no i know that. However i did expect maybe less of their runs coming off of the Home Run. Basically, he is saying that the offense will not score 13 one game and then score 4 combined in the next 5 games. More consistent run scoring has helped the Sox this year, no matter what anybody thinks. The runs per game may be down but the consistency is there, just not as of late.
  18. So how often do you guys actually drink???
  19. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) it wasnt the authentic it was one of those that are a t-shirt, but they say the players name on the back and a sox logo on the front Aww, you should have said t-shirt then. I was about to scream lol. I'm glad he is staying. If he can get his s*** straight in AAA, it would only mean good things for the Sox.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Didn't make it out to any of the Detroit games did ya.. ? No but I guess you are inferring we did. I watched the game and never heard "Maggs Sucks" as a chant. I heard boos and the occasional "You Suck Maggs!" but never a chant...
  21. QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) Need a judge? I've always wanted to be a judge on that show.... My judge's will be my mom and younger sister and possibly my grandparents. The main ingredient is not yet known but it is probably going to be one of beef, pork, or chicken.... My little sister had been practicing being a judge too. For example, yesterday, I made her a ham and cheese omelet and she was like "The texture is wonderfult but the eggs are a bit too greasy. It would have been perfect if you had less oil and just a bit more cheese." She's 11.
  22. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) I have never had it. I do still have two uncorked bottles of the original Sam Adams Triple Bock laid down though. Those were the little nippers in the cobalt blue bottles with the gold leaf lettering on them. WILLING TO TRADE ONE FOR ONE OF THEM THERE BEASTS. Any takers? I have a HUGE gallon-sized of Heineken that my dad got as a present a while back?? Although true, not interested in any trades. That big ass bottle is too funny.

    Ancient Rome..

    QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) I spent about a week there when I was abroad and it's amazing. I loved it--so beautiful. The people are incredibly nice and kind, and it's just a truly magical place. I loved being surrounded by history, just incredible. Funny Rome story: I was walking around some of the ruins, an old market place and this man comes up to me and says (in English with a thick Italian Accent) It's a Beeeeeuuuutiful day. Then he proceeds to give me a tour of the whole area saying what the ruins used to be and lots of cool info like that. It was really cool--afterwards he invited me back to his apartment, but I really appreciated having my own Roman tour guide for an hour-ish. The Italians were definitely some of the nicest people I met on my travels. Invited you to his apartment??? Shoot, I can give plenty of tours of Chicago!!!!!
  24. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) i got a shingo jersey shirt for $10 on sunday, it used to be 35 Damn you! I payed 210 for mine last year.
  25. QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) The guy in the pictures looks like Chairman Kaga from Iron Chef.... Iron Chef is the f***ing s***! I am going to battle my sister this wekend in an in-home Iron Chef!
