QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Wait, doesnt this mean that Contreras and ElDuque will be back to back again? Unfortunately, Yes.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) Id feel the same way as the illini/zona game and i would go crazy and go oon a cub fan bashing. Yeah. I'd probably punch the 1st Cub fan I see and say "That's right b****! f*** the Cubbies! The Sox own this town now you homo-ass bastage!" -
Question: If a Cub's player was to represent the US, would the Americans still root for him???? PS: I'm thinking we should have a HR Derby chat....anyone up for it????

QUOTE(crash @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) He said that if London was awarded the 2012 Olympics, he'd play for them. The host nation is allowed to participate in all the events, and they are allowed to import players for sports they don't play. The Greek baseball team in the 2004 Olympics had only 2 players born in Greece, and they imported the rest. Loul grew up in the UK after his family escaped from Sudan. Wow, I didn't know that. Also, I apologize on behalf of the idiot that called you a troll. I don't believe I gave you a proper welcome so: WELCOME ABOARD!

Like others, I don;t know what I would do. Besides the Bulls, I have never experiences a championship from any of the teams I follow or am I fan of. Let's put it this way....the Illini/Zona game was a final 4 game and when that game was over and Adams missed the FT's, I almost broke my ankle from junping and I couldn't talk for the next day or 2. If the Sox won the World Series, I would end up in a body cast and I would turn into a mute. -
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Just because he is not 6 years younger does not mean he is a downgrade defensively to Aaron Rowand. That is just a ridiculous statement. I like Aaron Rowand and all, but come on, lets not be too much of a homer here. Jr. is one of the best defense OFs of all time. I remember how everyone was saying last year that Andruw Jones is no longer that good defensively and he is worse than Rowand defensively. s***, he is still better than Rowand too, bad knees and all. You guys are overrating a Rowand a ton defensively. He is not even in the same category of Jr and Andruw Jones. You must be kidding me. Girffey is 35/36 and past him prime. He is not as fast as Rowand in CF and he is always a threat to pull a hammy or break something running for a flyball.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) They just showed a bunch of old Frank Thomas derby highlights on Baseball Tonight. Yeah, I saw that. I also saw Booney whiff a 65 mph lob....

They were just showing a HR Derby history clip on BBTN....and guess who they showed whiffing a 65 MPH fastball....yes, good ole' Booney!

QUOTE(crash @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) There are always players who don't deserve to go. Get rid of this "every team needs a rep" Bulls***. It's not a true All-Star Game when every team needs to be represented. A la the NBA....the Bulls havent had a rep since Jordan....

When I was driving around this morning, I believe the cheapest was $2.379

!st movie that comes to my mind as far as psychological thrillers: Identity with Ray Liotta and Ed Norton. Good movie. Better ending.

FYI, Tadahito has had a hit in all but 2 games since June 28th.

As a Serbian, I am completely ashamed of this. I scarcely remember this. I hate Milosevic so much. He is such a worhtless piece of s***. He is a disgrace to Serbian culture. Of course this lead to the worst times of my young life so far when his dumbass wouldnt sign the peace treaty and then Clinton decided to invade and bomb. I still remember coming home crying and sobbing in tears wondering if the bombings had killed any of our family. Then I rememeber trying to call one day and EVERY single phone line was out. It was by far the most terrifying time of my life. Even now, when a discussion about this comes up in any of my classes, it brings back horrible memories.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) Contreras Garcia Buehrle Garland Hernandez Thank god this is only to start the 2nd half. I do like Garcia right after Contreras though and then Buehrle and Garland and then El Duque. It mixes up the rotation so the pposition doesnt see similar things in back to back days.

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) I think Pods presence on base getting in the pitchers heads has helped Iguchi's average more than Iguchi grounding to 2nd to move Pods to third has hurt it. Iguchi has been a strikeout machine who has been hitting worse and worse as the season has gone on. But I think he can and will turn it around because he is quite skilled with the bat. So you're saying that his strikeout are the reason for his average to plummet???? He has a .339 OBP whic hmeans he is still getting his base hits. Just because he gets Pods over doesnt mean he has to do it with a ground out. He has struck out 61 times in 73 games while he has 78 hits as well. He still has a solid .280 average. He is also batting better at hom (310) than he has on the road (242). To me, he was stil worthy of an All-Star appearance up until the middle of June when he was slumping. He'll turn it around but this really isn't a big problem. He is going out and doing what he has to do. The fact that we are arguing over a .280 batter who is doing well shows how good this team is.

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Never noticed this before, but if you watch closely in that clip, right after AJ touches home plate, you can see Timo and Willie duking it out in the top right corner. Funny s***. I noticed that when I first saw the clip on CSN. I didn't bother writing about it necause I thought everyone had already noticed. I think Timo woul beat the s*** ot of Willie btw.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) Speaking of a "Batman" nickname, I have an awesome poster in my dorm of Tony Gwynn that uses that name. Check it out: http://www.sportsposterwarehouse.com/wareh.../gwynnsix95.htm Thats pretty sweet. He should have the throwback uni on though. Nothing beats the brown and orange!

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) just to make sure you understand, i wasnt even questioning your knowledge at 15, ive read your posts. i was questioning it as a 9 year old. Oh. Well, I can assure you I wasn't saying s*** like "Go James Baldwin!" so I am pretty sure that I can trust my past. I wasn' a dumbass and I am pretty sure the only Sox player I hated was Jaime Navarro so I'm all good lol.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) You are the exception to the rule. I apologize for questioning your baseball knowledge at the age of 9, it just seemed from your comment you didn't remember how much of a factor Junior can be in the outcome of a game. Keep on truckin' and go Sox. Oh, no. I totally understand. Shoot, if I was older I would question a 15 year old too. But seriously, Girffey is part his prime. Yes, he is still a great player and could improve the team but for someone to say that he is better defensively that Aaron....come on? Sure, maybe in 1998 yes, but now, no. He is 35 or 36 right now and IMO, he wont have any Bonds type seasons to end his career. Now, on the part of hitting against RHP, he is an upgrade over Aaron but to me, it isn;t worth the defensive downgrade. Actually, he bats .287 vs LHP and RHP so TIFWIW.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) I agree with everything except for Saw. That movie f***ing sucked. No other words to describe it. That movie was built around trying to make a "twist" ending (like M. Night Shyamalan's flops, excluding Sixth Sense), and it failed. Ooh, it might be the doctor...ooh, it could be Danny Glover (who really had no point in this movie other than to be killed, unfortunately)...ooh, it might be the nurse. Or, it might be the guy who's in the movie for three tenths of a second (that's a little too Scream 2 for me). Plus, the acting was terrible and this is coming from a guy that really doesn't recognize good or bad acting. We appreciate your opinion....but that movie was awesome.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) Questioning whether you have any first hand knowledge, as opposed to knowledge are two different things. Seeing Michael Jordan play while it is happening is different than seeing highlights of slam dunks. That's the same thing as seeing Junior Griffey change the game with his defense/offense as opposed to seeing a highlight of some homeruns. PS I just don't know too many 6 year olds who are that up on the game, let alone can talk about it. I don't doubt your baseball knowledge as a 15 year old, but as a 9 year old, its questionable... I appreciate your concern lol but when I was young, I would have very serious conversation with other people about sports. I understand where your coming from though. And yes, I say MJ play to and have strong recollection of him as well. PS- I'll be 16 in a month.
