Will the Frank Thomas bashers please stand up?
FlaSoxxJim replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
MB is happy here, and now he's making the money he deserves to make. Both times Mark made comments about it being kind of a neat idea to some day play for the team he grew up cheering for it was a NON-STORY that the press tried to make something out of. Frank is happy here and is readdy to play for ex-teammate Ozzie. The apprehension about his arrival at ST and the trouble brewing was, again, a NON-STORY that the press tried to make something out of. I can't wait until ST games begin next week and the press can actually write about that for a change. And speaking of the press stirring up trouble, I know Shoenweis is going to miss a few days because his wife is having a baby. But what is the "personal business" that's taking Koch away from camp for the next few days? -
I'm a card-carrying member of the ACLU, as I'm sure is cw. The country would be a lot worse off without them around, which is why I support them financially. But that doesn't mean you have to believe in every case they take on. Still, while I don't know the details of the case (and as such may be way off), I can see what ACLU took on the case. NAMBLA is a sickening group - all the more so now that I am a father. But, if the suit brought against them by the boy's parents claims the NAMBLA literature MADE these two sick people kill and rape the boy, I can see ehy ACLU is part of it. At the same time, cw's right, I likely could not rush to the defense of a group I hold in disdain.

Dang, that's it? I thought he was going to tell me who to hook up with to get some good egg foo young.

Kudos to Frank. I hope he has an MVO-caliber year and retires a Sox. And I hope Magglio has a big year and were leading the pack come July so JR is forced to do what it takes to keep him through 2004 and beyond. I know that's easier said than done, but a Sox team in contentions - hopefully well out in front - will = put up or shut up for both the fans and JR. If attendance is up and the team is doing well, trading Magglio would turn fans into one angry mob. I would have understood a trade this off-season, but now it's time to get into gear for 2004 and not find ourselves in a positio where we have to deal Magglio come July just so we get something in return.

The Ozzie and Frank squabble seemed like much ado about nothing most of the offseason, and here's hoping that's the case. Right now it sounds like the clubhouse attitude in AZ is great and everybody's feeling comfortable. I hope that translates into a monster year for Frank and a hot White Sox team that surprises a lot of people. -
Good News indeed. Time to play ball.

That is correct, but most consumer camcorders don't let you change the refresh rate the way the pro and 'prosumer' models do.

Let's just say it's unlikely that "Dirty Dancing - Havana Nights" and "Eurotrip" are unlikely to give it much of a run for its money.

I was guessing methane...

I think MuleStation was the game console Sony tried to market to the Amish and the Menanites, right?

If presales count in that total, it could come near $75 million I'd guess. The thing is, with a mid-week opening on Ash Wed, there is not a full weekend in that first three day box office take. It certainly will be up there after the weekend, although in th elonger term it will be unlike the big-budget Matrix and LOTR record-setters because I don't thing there will be people seeing it 3 and 4 times. It sounds a little too visceral to draw a big repeat crowd.

That's from a powdered donut, silly.

So now you are probbably going to tell me this one is a fake, too?

You couldn't do that cleanly with a typical consumer camcorder because the refresh rates of the monitor and the camera are not the same, and you would get an interfereance flicker or roll. If you have a Betacam or some other high-end model that will allow you to sync the refress rate you could do it. Easier just to send the computer signal to a VCR, tv or other NTSC monitor through RCA outputs (if your computer has them). If the timeout feature on the file works because it limits your access to a streamed file, then playing around with a way to dump the information stored in RAM to a hard drive file might be an option.

Yeah, the gun would have been more like at knee level than head level...

Four more years?!?

Fox's Arrested Development is a seriously good show if you haven't seen it. It's on Sundays up against Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO, which is pretty much the obly other comedy I make a point of seeing.

While I'd prefer he be used as dependable middle- and long relief, sure, he needs to be in the mix and get a look for the 5th spot. Hopefully the 2002 version shows up and not the 2003, but Wright needs to have a good year that's for sure.

I like this one too.

Yeah, by and large, your assessment is better than mine. Time has allowed me to paint a picture of himmeing more effective than he probably was. I should have said fair, competent, etc., rather than effective. He did have measurable success in certain areas, and one of them was in public health care at the time. My dad was the Deputy Commish of Health for the city through his administration, and he made more progress then than he did either before or after and the Mayor's office gave the department most of what it asked for in terms of resources. Of course it was early in the R.M. Daley reagn that my dad got axed in a completely political firing (no political favors from the Mayor for THAT SS Irishman) to appease teh nun that ran Catholic Services by putting one of her cronies in place. Amazingly, I think Dad still votes for that Putz every election.
