QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) Well the guy hates his racist nickname, so why wouldnt they call him his real name? You'll have to excuse me, the Green Lantern in my mind is frozen ca. 1959-1965 (complete with the big Gil Kane crease between his nose and mouth, naturally). Back then, if you were comic book Asian stereotype you were damn proud of it!

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) Sorry, apparently I jumped the gun a little bit, but it seems to be a foregone conclusion http://screenrant.com/green-lantern-jackie...tro-kofi-41425/ FWIW, I think either Hugo Weaving or JEH would be a magnificent Sinestro I bet he is in it. Yeah, but they'll probably call him "Tom" or something lame like that.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) What episode was it Kramer and Newman were playing Risk forever?? When at the end one of them says Yugoslavia is weak and some old guy screams out Yugoslavia is not weak and knocks the board over.. It was the Ukraine, from teh label Maker episode. "You know what the Ukraine is? It's a sitting duck. A road apple, Newman. The Ukraine is weak. It's feeble. I think it's time to put the hurt on the Ukraine."

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) Jackie Earle Haley confirmed as Sinestro in Green Lantern I can see that. Now who's going to play Pieface? Or is this going to be one of them there politically keerect movies that doesn't use derogatory terms to describe Asian sidekicks?

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) Help, what was the street game Kramer ran into that was named after the president and the street? The Van Buren Boys

I'm pretty darn good if they put the kiddie gutter bumpers up for me.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 11:19 PM) Too late? I was thinking more like 100 years too soon... Bill Murry will really look old by then, and Akroyd will be roughly the size of a small planetoid.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) Ivan Reitman confirmed to direct Ghostbusters 3. FlaSoxxJim confirms an utter lack of desire to see the sequel when it comes out 15 years too late.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 11:20 PM) Im talking Xmen and X2. And you know what? I liked Superman Returns. It wasnt what everyone wanted, but it was a nice pay of respect to the Christopher Reeves movies. It wasnt a terrible movie, it just wasnt anything new and it should have been something other than Superman vs Lex Luthor again. Exactly, and when the hell is Mister Mxyzptlk going to get the serious Hollywood treatment a villain of his stature demands?!?

Great to see so many people in agreement that Seinfeld is probably the best comedy ever. What I really liked were the running gags that spanned several episodes and (more often) seasons, cropping up when you least expect them. From Season 5. . . Elaine's boyfriend Jake : So you heard that I was in a car accident , and then decided to stop off for some Jujyfruit? Elaine (Mouth full of Jujyfruit): Well... the counter...was right there, and... Then, 13 episodes later in the next season. . . ELAINE: You know, we had a really bad break-up. JERRY: The Jujy Fruits? ELAINE: Yeah. . . the Jujy Fruits.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Another factor to consider is the technological advances, in film, lighting and photography. I think black and white film and intelligent set lighting had a lot to do with how wonderfully well beauty was captured back in the day. ^^^ Yet another beautiful Jimmy Stewart leading lady, Donna Reed. You sure don't capture the highlights of the hair or the flawlessness of the skin in Technicolor like you do with rich, warm, black and white film.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Seriously, no Jayne Mansfield or Raquel Welch? There will be if you add them to the nominations, silly.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) I'd do Marie Antoinette "But she never lost her head, even when she was giving head." ^^^ Number One Song Lyric NOT about Marie Antoinette ^^^

QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) I don't get the Vertigo love. It's not a bad movie, but it's really long, and the ending isn't that great. But I guess there is a different thread for this discussion. Jimmy Stewart makes the movie for me, and Kim Novak to a lesser extent. Of the three Stewart Hitchcock films, I put this in second place, behind Rear Window but ahead of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956).

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) I find this weird. I can't find a woman attractive if I know she's elderly or dead now. Likewise, I find that opinion sort of weird. That circa 1976 Farrah Fawcett should not appeal to the senses because she is dead, or to not appreciate how stunning was a yound Elizabeth Taylor because she's now 77 years old seems odd. Hollywood starlets are unattainable fantasies or objects of admiration. That said, for me it doesn't matter when a film was made so long as it captured and preserved the beauty of the performers.

"You, Mr. Jerry Seinfeld, are no comedian."

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) You know that I appreciate a lot of the same things in film/books/comics that you do, this is just conversation to me, no hard feelings Absolutely none taken. And of course I love some godawful films. I'd just rather see more godawful but new stuff coming out as opposed to the godawful rehash.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 07:46 AM) Grace Kelly Ingrid Bergman You have fine taste in women.

Some solid choices there, and yeah I think this can be fun. Kid Gleason has mentioned one of the Gish sisters as one of history's hotties (and I concur), and Big Ed has rattled off a few as well. And heck, if Tex pulls out his little black book, we may find out he dated some of the great silent film starlets back in the day. In an attempt to leave some selections for others, I'll just stick with a few absolute favorites from a few different Hollywood eras: • Ingrid Bergman has got to be my all-time favorite. All the seeming cliches about cameras loving certain women totally apply here, and I don't think anyone's beauty has been captured more successfully than Ingrid in Casablanca. • Since Kim Novak was already mentioned in the run-up to ths thread, I'll add my favorite Hitchcock actress, Grace Kelly. • Going way back to Zigfeld Follies and the silent film era, little known tragic starlet Olive Thomas is a gem. • Finally, though I greatly dislike her personal politics, there's no denying the sex kitten appeal of Brigitte Bardot. OK, somebody else's turn.
