Best Songs Ever
I've been finding myself particularly haunted by "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel as of late. And "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss" by Yoko Ono. I'd forgotten that a lot of the music she made in the Double Fantasy - It's Alright period was some of the best new wave out in the early 1980s.

Curveball
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) So offer us a solution. What would you have us do? Change tone, approach. Pledge to become more aggressive in actually doing the rebuilding of Iraq and controlling the fraud that's perpetrated in the name of reconstruction. Hire local Iraqis to actually do the job. Work harder to actively include Sunni leadership in a political solution to what appears to be a brewing civil war. Start reducing troop levels as a show of good faith and give the Iraqi government an 18-24 month limit on large scale involvement within Iraq with a pledge to maintain a ready response unit in Iraq for a minimum of 5 years after that.

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
In sort of related news: Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice helped to negotiate a deal between Israeli and Palestinian authorities regarding Gaza border crossings. This is a milestone for the administration - in that its finally actually getting into the down and dirty work of multilateral diplomatic negotiation. Something it has seemingly resisted for several years. Good to see the administration doing the right thing here.

"My Humps"
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) I don't think she is "ugly", but rather she is just another one of those types that you expect to find in the Hip Hop and Rap video's (dress, mannerisms, etc), and that just isn't my thing. Ugly? No. Do I find other women (yes, my wife included) to being MUCH more attractive? Yes. It's all personal taste. Heck, some people find Rosanne and Bea Arthur attractive. You leave Bea Arthur out of this. Don't make me share the link.

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
It was either that or be censured. However, don't think that ad won't run next year. Ohio is a very fair game place for Dems next year. And she very narrowly beat Paul Hackett - an Iraq war vet who is now running to unseat Senator Mike DeWine, a Republican. As ugly as what's happening in the halls of Congress these days, it's a good thing to see the opposition grow a sack.

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
It's s*** like this that majorities pay for in the long run. And sadly, our country will too.

What about "The Ketchup Song" by Las Ketchup?

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
I don't think people like Congressman Murtha advocate a cut and run policy. I think its more like a "get our s*** together or leave" policy. And I think that's admirable.

Black support for Bush drops to two percent
If it wasn't for Lyndon B Johnson, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would never have passed. If it wasn't for Truman, Strom Thurmond would have stayed a Democrat. It's funny to see Larry Elder carry water for the GOP. Used to be a libertarian. I find him to be generally a pretty intelligent conservative pundit, but to say that what the Democrats did in the 1850s is a reason to support the President in 2005 is a pretty big leap of faith.

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) Can someone link me to where the White House called Murtha "unpatriotic" or where Bush "talked s***"? The GOP leadership did. But that's not the White House. Attacking your policies and "smearing" someone would be two different things. And every President gets the honor of having both happen simultaneously.

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) I agree with the fact that basically the current plan is to draw the "Terrorists" into Iraq and fight them there. It's all but said. And to tell you the truth, that's probably what needs to happen, at least in the short order... until they get their army in gear - which is closer to happening then it was 6 months ago by all accounts. Actually, not 100% on this but I thought one of the Generals assigned to train Iraqi forces admitted that there was only one battle ready battalion of iraqi forces capable of fighting independently as of last month. Down from three.

"Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!"
I drink it. I usually buy a half case every year. But I know its not really a good wine. I still like it. But then again, I also eat mustard sandwiches and have been known to get down with a coffee table in my day.

"Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!"
It's a marketing ploy. Not really good wine. A good year for the Beaujolais Nouveau makes it drinkable alcoholic cherry koolaid.

Senator Jay Rockefeller
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) No, I'm saying that the run-up to the war, he moved them, most likely to Syria. That's why all of a sudden, right at the end, he was so willing to let the inspectors back in. Sometimes, asking yourself logical questions instead of getting caught up in every political blog that supports ONLY your own position makes sense. I'm not saying that *IS* what happened, but it has to be a good possibility. Especially since there were communications intercepts of the supposed movement. But I suppose that's been debunked 6,343,474 ways from Sunday in xxxxx.com's liberal blog too. Or maybe he figured out the end game. You honestly think that Saddam Hussein thought he'd beat the US this time? Maybe he realized his only shot at a peaceful end to this is by offering the President what he wanted. Knowing that's what the President didn't really want. The only war Hussein could have won was the war of public opinion and I wager he knew that. And I remember there was significant debate in the intelligence community, especially ours, about the reality of those claims. From what I understand, we didn't just find a lack of WMD. We found a lack of WMD infrastructure.

Senator Jay Rockefeller
Yeah, I am. I don't think a Democrat senator from WV gets in depth access to the future war plans of this Republican president months before he announces it to anyone or even leaks it to the media. If he does and if he did, then he's as liable as anyone else who helped facilitate the blatant lies we were spoonfed to put us in this situation.

Senator Jay Rockefeller
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) You do have to be careful with words. "IT'S MY OPINION that George W. Bush will go to war with Iraq" is far different then "shhh, but George has already committed to it..." Something tells me that Rockefeller didn't have that access to the Bush administration in 2002. And if he did, then he ought to be fired for not exposing an administration's lie to the public to pursue peaceful means to end that issue.

Mayor declares 'Julie Andrews Day' in Chicago
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) I have a problem with the movie Shark Tale. I think it's message is subversive. "I can't stand living a lie" "why won't you accept me for who I am". These things are ok on one level, but manipulative on another. Not everyone believes these things are universal. A shark that just doesn't fit in with other sharks, so he dresses up like a dolphin. I know "it's just a cartoon", but that's why I have a problem with it. We put adult messages in cartoons and our kids are just left with confusion. From working at blockbuster and seeing parents rent these "cartoons" for young children makes me very upset. anyway, just my 2 cents. Why is acceptance such a problem?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Seriously, can someone answer why is liking Streisand considered a gay reference in a film? Please share this insider joke with the rest of us. Go to the gay bar and play the Streisand song in the jukebox. You'll figure it out soon enough. As my friend told me last night. "It's your heritage!"

Green Day's Bigotry
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) But YES? I don't think John Anderson ever wrote a coherent lyric (not a knock). What was socially or politically incendiary in their catalog? The third party 1980 presidential candidate was a rock star?
